    thanks! I'll take a look!
  3. I was wondering if anyone recommends a specific motherboard or guide for making an i7 hackintosh, geared for performance.

It gives me an error when trying to format. I've even tried diskpart in the repair utilities to do it and it just hangs. I loaded it into a sata-usb adapter and formatted it with another windows machine, which worked fine.

I disconnected everything except the DVD. The osx volume was not connected. I tried it on the onboard sata with the dvd on the other sata ports, I tried it with different bios settings. I tried it on the jmicron sata ports, they all say the same thing. I tried cleaning the drive with diskpart, and it can't format the disk either. This is getting ridiculous. It has nothing to do with osx86, but for some reason win7 does not like this mobo! It

I still can't get windows to install. I keep getting weird hard drive errors. I get different ones depending on how I've formatted the drive. Current error: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu." I even changed all the bios setting to back to IDE and legacy etc... I get the same error. I'm totally clueless on this one. Any ideas?
  8. I tried installing an AJA kona card in my ud3p hackintosh. With the card in any slot, the computer wouldn't even POST. I can confirm this card does work in a genuine mac. Does anyone know if there is some way that the kona card could be checking for something in the mobo bios, or if there is a way to work around the problem?

SBMac: I started this thread for the purpose of being able to track the specifics of this exact build. Read the topic. This thread is getting too bloated to be useful. Please stop broadening the scope of this thread. Please take all your video card questions to this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=213413
  10. This thread is for all who need help with various video cards in their snow leopard osx build. This is for all the overflow questions in build specific topics. Ask Away.

I'm assuming this needs to go into the com.apple.Boot.plist file?

Updated again. Keep it coming. FAQ: Q I can boot off my thumb-drive, but not my hard-drive. A You ran the installer on your thumb-drive, thats why it boots. After you install snow leopard on your hard drive, you need to run the installer on it too. That should make it bootable. Q: Can I use another Video Card with this build? Short Answer: No. Not with this method. Longer Answer: You can do anything you put your mind to. Please start another thread about how to get support for different video cards in a hackintosh. Q: How do I make the on-board Ethernet work (bonjour)? A: The hardware card provided in the list will work out of the box. If you really want to try with the onboard: install the patch made by weaksauce. To find it, google this: finally-64-bit-r1000-kext-for-snow-released It may show up as 100baseT, but you can manually set it to 1000 in ethernet preferences. This should make the onboard nic's work! Q: What bluetooth model will work flawlessy? A: Q: How to install windows xp or win7 on a seperate drive? A: 1. disconnect your sl drive 2. Set your new drive as boot priority. 3. Install windows xp sp3 (sp2 or below doesn't have AHCI support) or win7 4. Shut down and reconnect SL drive. 5. Set SL as boot priority. 6. Select your operating system via the chameleon loader. Q: I'm having trouble waking from sleep. Are there any known issues about sleep mode? A: Waking from sleep is problematic. It is best to disable sleep mode. Q: I installed this other piece of hardware, but it doesn't work and doesn't show up in profiler. A: Google it, or start a new thread about that hardware in a hackintosh. Please don't clutter this thread up any more than it already is. Things to be aware of: 1. The bios version should be FB. Newer bios will cause problems. Downgrade if necessary. 2. Some reports of fried motherboards/power supplies when connecting mac towers in target mode. Doesn't seem to happen with 4-pin firewire cables. Inconclusive evidence, so beware.
