MacTech84
I assumed that when my chip read 12,340 C that the Hadron Collider had created 2 black holes inside my CPU. I still waiting to be sucked in and hoping to be spat out of a worm hole on the other side of the universe. Of course running this Hacintosh it may have already happened Wow, home grown SuperNova, love it! New GPU FINALLY installed, a fresh installation of OSX & V3 Installer went without a hitch (Also updated to 10.6.2). Just need to check and tweak things now. Massive thanks to Stell (Of course!) and SBMac for the continued support in here (Might need you at the weekend!!!). First Glitch: Sleep goes to sleep ok but upon waking I get no display on my primary monitor and a blue screen on the secondary one. If I press a key in this state that OSX doesn't like I can hear the Funk sound so I sort of know it has restarted but not correctly initialised the display? I should also mention I guess that sleep did work ok with the old 7600GS Graphics Card! I might recommend resetting your BIOS and see if that helps at all. I do not have any issues with sleep, but it could also be something plugged into your system. I have had USB devices in the past prevent my computer from sleeping properly, but then again I dont really use this function as I am always doing something constantly. i have been researching this thread to see if there are any other video cards compatible for this build. is this comment true or is there any other video cards that will work with this build without changing anything. im trying to save some money and was thinking of getting a 9400gt or 9500gt ( i dont game at all) A 9400/9500gt will work with your system, and even though you will not use it for gaming, a more powerful GPU will take advantage of new tech in OSX such as OpenCL and Grand Central where CPU processing is off loaded to the GPU. If its not too much more, I would go with the recommend 9800GTX. As for adding accessories such as the Logitech KB and Mice I make this recommendation. I am using the Performance MX and it works with the Logitech drivers. There are a lot of third party utilities like USB overdrive that will work as well and are even better in some instances. I would only say that is you are going to buy peripherals for use with your computer, make sure they have Mac Support listed and directly plug them into the computer, do not use a USB hub, as that can (in not so technical babble) dilute the signal for the computer to recognize the device properly. Sounds weird but I have noticed this in my own experiences. akilan
@rickyp123 i had the same issues - i can't find it at the moment, but somewhere on the mushkin site there is a post by moderator "mushkin sean" which spells out the voltages, timings and a few other bios settings that you need. i could boot with 1 stick in but any more, the computer would spontaneously restart while trying to boot. after i completed the changes, i let it sit on the bios page and watched the temps. cpu stayed below40. ultimately pc booted fine and i was able to install snow leopard. I have 991580 mushkin - 8gb, GA-ep45 ud3-p v.1.6, seagate barracuda 1 tb 7200 rpm drive, plextor burner, evga nvida gtx 260, antec skeleton case, trendnet ethernet card. best of luck, akilan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187440-lifehacker-guide-with-ga-ep45-ud3p-motherboard/page/32/#findComment-1355432 Share on other sites

martygearbox
Netflix ? I have a successful system with the TrenNet network card , running 10.6.1 and the V3 install. Not that I am even totally sure what Bonjour is it just sounds like something I need Just need to figure out what is causing my sleep (Awake!) problem now. Once it wakes from sleep I can still control the OS and can tell it to reboot using "Ctrl / Windows Key / F12" (Sorry Windows keyboard ) but on my DVI display connected to the port nearest to the Motherboard it reports no signal and on my LCD TV connected via DVI > VGA adapter I just get a blue screen. This evening I am going to try a plain 10.6.0 install with the Halloween version of the installer as it used to work before I updated the graphics card and Stell's install package. CoHPhasor
I am so happy to have back and forward buttons working on my Micoroinv mouse. Thank you very much. You're welcome. Glad you like the solution. :-) Any progress in allowing for the use of both PCI Express video slots to be use so that you can use more than 2 monitors? Sorry friend, but you need to go digging. guyjin
Okay, my build has been rock solid for me. Thanks to everyone! I have one final issue. I can't seem to get anything to display the temp for my 9800GTX+ gpu. AT Monitors and Temperature Monitor show everything but the gpu. Is there a special version of a kext that I need or something? I upgraded my extras folder using the v3 installer, so it should all be up to date. I'm stumped. Any thoughts? rainmanjam
Just wanted to post my results in having 2 video cards installed. I followed the instructions from aquamac forums - GFX Strings - DUAL CARDS - How To . The only thing you have to do is port the output in step 12 on a Leopard, NOT SNOW LEOPARD, box. And then follow the rest of the instructions. I didn't have to change the BIOS startup video card slot and everything works like a charm. MacTech84
Here is an example: "12/12/09 8:13:33 AM SyncServer[3631] _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35" From what I have been finding, this is actually not to common. What happens is there are some applications that make calls to Apple specific software, to hardware. Basically it wants to use the Built In Ethernet. Are you using a PCI-Nic? I know that it does work for almost all things, but there is this rare instance where the PCI-Nic is not seen as the Built-In-Ethernet. Anyone with a Hack-Intosh with 10.5 knows what I am talking about with needing to use the Time Machine fix. If you are using a PCI-Nic I would recommend pulling the card, and use this for the Built-In-Ethernet: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181133 I have had some weird problems with my PCI-Nic so I decided to give this a try, again... I say again I had to install twice, then bring up Disk Utility and repair permissions on your primary drive. Then I rebooted and voila! Built-In-Ethernet is up and fully working with Bonjour. Let me know if this works for you... MacTech84
How do I test Bonjour with just my Hackintosh and a Windows Vista Laptop? You would have to have Bonjour installed on the Vista Laptop as well, now what that lets you do is see other Bonjour enabled devices such as printers or Apple's own Apple TV on the network. This is how I know its working for me personally as iTunes relies on Bonjour to see the Apple TV. If you have a networkable printer, that is typically the easiest way to check at least from my own experiences. mrquacker
One more question that I havent seen an answer to. Whats the chip operating temperature supposed to be? I'm using the 3ghz quad core chip specified for this build, with the stock intel cooler that came with it. I've been running temperature monitor non-stop (set to boot on login) since I first booted it up over a week ago. Its obviously been shut down, restarted, and put to sleep for quite a bit of time as well. The idle temp has been hovering around 60C the whole time. I just added Seti@Home, and with it maxing out the 4 CPUs, temps shot up to 72C. So whats a normal idle/full throttle temp? Is this too high? Did I somehow screw up while I was installing the chip and cooler? I had bought this along with all my other parts for the build, but I cant install it, as parts on the Gigabyte board are in the way. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835207006 Anyone have any suggestions on a cooler that does work with this board/build? And one more question. Whats a good/cheap 5.1 or 7.1 sound card that I can install into this build? Stock sound from the Gigabyte board isnt sounding right. Thanks again! AkronElliott
Having issues installing Covenant Eyes with Snow Leopard. Would this be an issue of 32 bit vs. 64 bit? The application needs Rosetta. Only notice that the icon bounces in the dock and no icon appears in status bar. Well if you have Rosetta installed already, you can answer your own question by eliminating the other mentioned variable; Boot using the 32 bit mode flag. I've never done it, not do I know how to do it, but as others have posted it's simple. Google it, give it a shot. Whether it works or not the good thing is you already mentioned the vendor will put out an update to address it. One more question that I havent seen an answer to. I think mine runs fairly cool. (Mid 40's tops in the 50's) Cooler Master N520 I bought it at Fry's for about $35. It's fully customizable for older and new procs. #Warning!# I DO NOT use the case from the build. I do however use one I think is smaller lol! It definitely fits the board from the build perfectly. I would definitely suggest using Arctic Silver 5, perfect mix.
