[SOLVED] LION and unsupported Quad Core CPUs

r1200 worked for me also. Changed processor to q6600 and matching smbios still no go. Then changed to rc5 r1200 and Apple will finally take my $29.00, have GM from alternate sources but after all the grief not sure I still want to give a company with 78 billion in cash another 29 bucks

[question]10.7 installation on Cartri modified BIOS

To tell you the truth I haven't a clue where I got it but I've tried several newer builds without problem. You can get the latest from this post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075 or I've been using r1200 from kext dot com without issue for a week or so. I have the installer for r1135 still but my build is in pieces right now using the case to setup and test a new setup for my main computer, Sandy Bridge time Gigabyte z68xp-ud4 with I5 2500k 8gig of Patriot memory. 4GHz on stock cooling as a starting point good bye Q6600 you've been good to me 3.2 GHz from day one never a worry.

Help Needed, stuck on Lion install boot.

Just trying to get clear picture of what you are doing. Is this it in a nutshell? 1. Use guide to get files from install dmg onto usb drive. 2. Install chameleon onto the usb drive. 3. Copy working SL extra folder onto the usb drive. 4. Boot with usb drive and install stalls at bootCashe.playlist By the way bootCashe.playlist is not on my usb drive either just bootCashe.data and my install has gone without a problem twice once for clean install and once for upgrade install. But I'm using Cartri bios and have no need for DSDT.

Stop downlaoding Lion Retail from torrents

I believe that fix is for people that can not sign into the app store, and I had said that I could do that already. Went ahead and tried, complete waste of time. I could sign in before and after even download apps previously bought but it just won't sell me Lion. @OP By the way I can log into the app store from my Lion install just fine, even push the buy Lion button. It tells me Lion is already installed and won't sell me Lion. Reading the Ars Technica review I see it states: "Mac OS X, Lion has no serial number, no product activation, and no DRM of any kind. In fact, the Mac App Store’s licensing policy is even more permissive than past releases of Mac OS X." Seems all your paranoid assumptions are completely false. http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2011/...-os-x-10-7.ars/

Stop downlaoding Lion Retail from torrents

Got it from newsgroups not torrent. Logs into the app store just fine thank you. I would buy it but the store won't sell it to me says that Lion can't be installed on my computer though it runs just fine.

[SOLVED] LION and unsupported Quad Core CPUs

Apple won't sell me a copy either. I have a E4500 that shows up in about my mac correctly as a core 2 duo, I have F42c88c8 in my smbios.plist that is seen a reported by geekbench. I Don't have any idea what apple is looking at but those don't seem to matter. ep45-ud3p with cartri bios, 9800gt

[question]10.7 installation on Cartri modified BIOS

My Installation is on a GA-EP45-UD3P v1.6 motherboard flashed with the Cartri v0.8 BIOS and my extra folder is exactly the same as in SL. Except one change I had to put pciroot set to 1 in my plist to get my 9500gt to work properly. Same sound fix you used in 10.6.8 needs to be done for 10.7 I also had to patch AppleRTC.kext to stop the bios from resetting its self on wake. See this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...3992&st=320 Just paste the code from post #340 into terminal and your done. You have to boot using a lion friendly version like Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r1135, I don't know what or if it breaks any to the features of the Cartri bios someone like BlackOSX who worked on the cartri friendly Chameleon version that we were using would have to figure that out. I haven't found anything wrong using the newer Chameleon everything that worked in SL is working in Lion. I didn't get my copy of Lion from Apple ( got it in the usegroups ) I've tried to buy from the Apple store with 10.6.8 and the cartri bios but I get a message that Lion won't install on this computer and it won't sell it to me. Anyone please post if you can buy Lion from the app store using computer with Cartri .8 bios.
  11. You just need to make a usb install and boot into it. Run the install and pick the drive you have your current install located and install Lion over that it will upgrade that leaving all your files and programs in place. Before the upgrade install the new Chameleon or after the upgrade use the usb stick to boot and then install the new Chameleon on your boot drive. The Lion install will break sound like the 10.6.8 upgrade did. You will have to replace the AppleHDA.kext. You may also have a problem waking from sleep, waking could reset you bios to defaults, there is a script you can run to repair AppleRTC.kext or use a older one from 10.6.7

[question]10.7 installation on Cartri modified BIOS

If you have no DSDT.aml file in your extra folder then you have no need to specify which DSDT to use. You only had to use DSDT=cartri on your first boot to make sure you didn't do anything wrong then you were supposed to delete the DSDT.aml file and stop using DSDT=cartri. The version of Chameleon I'm using to boot into Lion still uses com.apple.boot.plist not org.chameleon.boot.plist and I needed to add pciroot set to 1 in my plist. I think I'll try a newer chameleon and see if it is still needed or not with my graphics card.

    Lifehacker Guide with GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard

I normally haven't needed a smbios.plist being a cartri user but can't get Apple to sell me a copy of Lion. I've tried several smbios.plist's including D-an-W's posted above. They are working as about this mac reflects what is in the plist. Still the app store keeps telling me Lion can't be installed on this computer, but the clean install on one drive and the upgrade install on another tell me otherwise
  14. Glad you got it working I should have said 1135 not 1083
  15. Try a newer build of Chameleon had to use 1035 on my ep45-ud3p.
