Just installed successful with nullspot's USB Installation Guide. But I got the panic kernel right after boot in the OS. Too fast to be able to install Chameleon or do anything (except copy the kexts form USB to Mac HD).

so no ideas on how i can get my GA311 seen by my system?

 

You can use the onboard LAN as others have stated and in fact need to if you use the dsdt because they've made edits that enable it. However, the GA311 can easily be used (I have it in both my Hackintoshes both running SnowKitty). But you do not need the entries in the dsdt for the onboard LAN. I don't know about the one provided since I edited my own dsdt (which quite frankly I'd recommend since mobo can be different, different verisons, etc.).

 

But editing the dsdt is not for the weak of heart. The instructions in the SL pack from the first post are, however, VERY easy to read and understand. So you may wish to try it.

 

The main benefit of using the GA311 is that there is NO need to do any of the bonjour fix (credits to Eliade for it's creation btw). The GA311 without any edits to dsdt will work 100% and provide bonjour support.

I also updated pciefi to 10.6 from netkas

Then I'll try the update

However I do have a little issue, but this was even before 10.6.3 (but not in 10.5)

the "Display Calibrator Assistant" dosen't work well, it runs but the calibration slider have no effects, so it is useless

Selecting different profiles will change the screen color so profiles works....

I'm using 2 DVI monitors and a 8800gts

 

However my other hackintosh, a Shuttle K45, does work (uses VGA)

 

So I just don't get it

Hey Eliade, good to see you here, I see looking at your kexts you need to catch up mate :D

 

I updated to 10.6.3 but get an error, does somebody know how to fix it ?

 

Luky Luke you error was caused by VooDooMonitor kext

Trying to compare R, L and P models, while price and availability is a major factor for my build.

 

I would be satisfied with the specs of the UD3L (cheapest and easiest to find).But I'm concerned about stability, compatibility and performance under 10.6. I see some others reporting kernel panic, unrecognized memory and flaky USB with the L model.

 

L users what do you think?

UD3P = UD3R + Lan Port. So there's not much difference, im using the UD3R for almost a year now and it's the best motherboard i ever had. In my opinion even better than my HP Workstation xw6000.

All you really lose with the UD3L are two SATA ports (you'll still have 6) and RAID capability. If you don't need the extra SATA ports and have no plans to do hardware RAID, get the UD3L and save a few bucks. It's also a bit smaller, so it's easier to work with.

 

One more note: Sound kext is different from UD3R. IIRC it's ALC888, rather than 889. If you have trouble finding it, let me know and I'll post it.

Hello guys,

 

Just add some info: I have installed SL on a friends PC with a mobo UD3L with ALC888, everything works great, but in both digital outputs the sound works only in Stereo, not 5.1ch. I'd have myself a EP45 UD3P about a year or so and works great, no one KP at this moment! not with Leo nor with snow.
