kevinosx
There are some BIOSes that are moded to make work the both cores, they say that Dell's could probably work. (on Hardware Forum) I have been following that thread and they say that they are not sure they can make dells work because they are not sure of why both cores don't work (although it definately is bois related), the other issue is that Dell uses a custom Phoenix Bios that we don't have any tools to modify, unless you can hex edit. khaos
Hey, I have an E1505 with the Intel GMA950 integrated graphics card. I'm running 10.5.2 and am having a bit of an issue running a secondary monitor. A good 80% of the time when I boot up into OS X the OS detects the secondary monitor as simply 'Display' with a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 (it's a 22" LCD so the resolution should be 1680x1050). Now, OS X at times DOES properly detect the monitor as an Acer AL2216W (this is correct) with a default resolution of 1680x1050, but like I said most of the time it does not detect it properly. Going into Display preferences and hitting Detect Display usually doesn't fix this. What I end up doing it simply restarting the computer over and over until it finally sees the monitor correctly as an Acer AL2216W. Once it detects it properly it works great until I restart the computer again, which ends up meaning I have to continue the restart cycle until it once-again detects the monitor properly. What I would like to know is if there is some way to force OS X into detecting my monitor as an Acer AL2216W (acer does not have a mac driver for this) with the proper resolution of 1680x1050 so I don't have to restart a dozen times everytime I wanna use my hackintosh. Thanks. Package content: - TurnlidOn kext - Graphics kexts - AppleHDA and ALCInject for Sigmatel 9200 - Netkas AppleSMBIOS for 10.5.2 - Modified com.apple.boot.list (cpus=1 and 5 sec timeout) - Media key enabler suite - Powermanager (activate Battery meter and PM stuff) - IONetworkingfamily.kext from 10.5.2 with BCM440X support - French Keyboard layout (laptop-optimized) - 2 fingers scrolling and dell configuration files. I open a topic dedicated to this project: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=97966 All links are there. Danomite
What's does not work on your M1710? well the main problem is the single core thing. Otherwise I think you package would likely work for me. Actually, noboby can't do anything about this problem. There is new (and unespected) hopes with modded bioses thread (see few posts ago). However, your hardware should works well with this installer (a member send me prepatched sound kexts for 1710 model, i will include them this week-end if everything is ok). Stay tuned! I have the EXSACT same problem, same error and same results as you. I am currently using a Dell XPS 1730. Kinda frustrating. I dont think it is common enough for people to want to touch on this yet. I am sure it will be looked into shortly. Looks like for most of us Dell users we are stuck with 10.5.1. mustng66
Having problem enabling AT X1400 on Dell Inspiron 6400/1505 running Klayway 15.5.2 Combo Intel/AMD Have made all the setting changes in ATIRadeonX1000.kext and while the correct ATI model number is in Profiler I still only get 1024x768 only in display. Is there a fix or another kernal install to fix this. Also my Airport network are not enabled on reboot, I have to join the wireless each time thought it does retain my password. Just a hassle having to click every time after reboot. MightyDarv
So, having a 6400 with the x1400 Mobility: am I correct in reading that OpenGL hardware acceleration is currently not working? Seems to be the case, and that is the message I get trying to run a game. Is there just something I have missed? I'd love to keep my install on the laptop but one of the things I was hoping to do with it is game a little away from the desktop. kevinosx
So got a weird one for you, after installing 10.5.2 kalyway the 1390 is intermittent, it works for a few seconds and gives a connection time out error, connects for a few seconds and does the same...Me thinks that it has to do with the airport updates, what do you think? Should I downgrade the airport driver to 10.5.1 or 10.4.8 or something? HaX0r Jim Duggan
I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 and am thinking of installing Leopard on it. Are both cores supported? kevinosx
HaX0r: no support for dual core yet due to weird limited bios, people are working on the issue but no timeline as to when it will be done, still on one core it runs fine. It uses the entire cpu as one core instead of splitting the cpu in two cores that work at different times. Also update on 1390 issue, it seems that 10.5.2 IONetworkingFamily.kext does not support the card well as it connects and disconnect intermittently so I downgraded to the 10.5.1 kext and everything seems to be working fine thus far! If it matters I selected the broadcom airport fix from the dvd install menu and now it shows up as an airport extreme, although didn't seem to affect the performance of the card in any way (Tried it with and without) Devilhood: you may want to make a mention of this 1390 issue and the fix in your guide EDIT: Oh and FYI: I get NO artifacting on my gma950 with Kalyway 10.5.2 running vanilla!! EDIT 2: Running 3 days on IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.5.1 on kalyway 10.5.2 install with Truemobile 1390 wireless without any issues 10.5.1 kext for IONetworkingFamily can be found here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15474-guide-dell-inspiron-6400940015201720e1405e1505e1705-intel-core-duo/page/57/#findComment-717767 Share on other sites
