OzOSX86
Very interesting. The version of driver you used was for RT71W not the 11g-RT2500 as mentioned previously as working with the DWL-G122 Version B1 chipset. Perhaps they changed the chipset to this new version. I have the C1 too so hopefully you've stumbled upon the answer. I'll pull it out of the draw again and give it a try... Edit: yep you've cracked I can also confirm the RT71W driver works for the GWL-122 Version C1! Well done Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1546-working-wireless-usb-and-ralink/page/10/#findComment-97491 Share on other sites
Aristos
I brought a ASUS USB WL-1676 wifi adapter and it works great with the ralink driver. Cant complain one bit. raider
I can confirm the DWL-G122 Revision C works very well with 10.4.5 with the RT71W Drivers, but it still doesn't see the device on startup until it is unplugged and plugged back in, a minor inconvenience. I would love to know who wrote the RT2500Replug tool, see if it can be adapted for the RT71 chipset? Any idea? Have you check the version number ie is it B1 or C1, since that will dictate which driver is used? I just switched over the an altheros based gigabyte 108 mini-pci card, now I have full native airport support. Only cost $50. No more dongles for me. OzOSX86
One thing ive noticed is it is ver 4000, not 3000. And, i how do u check the ver num? I have this. You're looking at the wrong numbers there. It's not a matter of 3000 or 4000. Look at the adapter itself to see if it's B1 or C1. I seriously doubt it's anything other than C1, as that's the version currently stocked at most suppliers. edit: are you talking belkin when you say 3000 or 4000? Can't help you there in that case I only know D-link GWL-122 vC1. pepitoo
I have the D-Link DWL-G122 B1 Firmware 2.02 I just want to point out a couple things that may or may not be mentioned in this thread already: 1. OS X recognizes the G122 as a ethernet device rather than an airport card. 2. It worked for me without modifying any kexts. 3. I used the Wireless USB Utility and ifconfig to get it working. *edit* I thought there was a problem with it connecting to my westell wireless router, but after I remembered I had mac filtering on the router, it connected fine. How did you do it? I have the same problem, but airPort does not seems to recognize it. I did configure wi-fi utility, activity indicator of the card blinks like there is a data transfer, i can ping the router but I can not connect to internet using safari.
