I have an MSI Wind installed with a retail copy (updated to 10.5.5 with software update) using the boot312 method. I'm scared to be the first... :(

UPDATE:

-boot321 install (10.5.5 currently installed)

-Installed BIOS update (1.0a).

-Installed 10.5.6 via Software Update.

-Rebooted. 800x600 icon_e_sad.gif

-Cleared Extension Cache with OSx86Tools.

-Reinstalled GMA 10.5.5 updated kexts with KextHelper

-???

Yeah, I'm not too interested in being the first to make the leap on the Dell Mini9 either. We just recently updated our Boot132 version to a version that's supposed to support 10.5.6.. But I don't think anyone has tried for real yet.

i tried on my machine. got stuck on the apple logo at retsrt. the wheel was spinniing forever (like 30 min)

i forced restart and then it booted. however, my drives turned oragnge, no sound working, sys profiler didnt work, etc

i tried reinstalling kexts and then my keyboard wasnt recognized

i am reinstalling to 10.5.5

Did you install the dsdt patch?

You may need to do this:

open up Terminal and type “sudo su -” without the quotes. Enter your user password and then type “while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done” without the quotes.

Without DSDT patch.

I have disabler.kext. After installation correct ACPIPS2Nub.kext and AppleHDA.kext.

Namely

<key>com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform</key>
<string>1.2.1</string>

-> change to 1.2.4

That's all.

even if using boot-132?

Installed it .... booted up twice, but everything is ok. No disblers or DSDT pacthes.

what methos of install did you use? a patched file like kalyway or a retail methos like boot-132?

did you experience any long waits?

thanks

I'm about to try the update. Downloading the file, not via Updater. Gonna use the terminal command posted above on the iDeneb 10.5.5 distro.... wish me luck.

Alright, back up and running with 10.5.6. Had to reinstall the audio kexts, but aside from that everything HW wise is working. Only glitch is that System Profiler no longer shows the System Information.

I tried installing the update on my kalway 10.5.5 install and half way through it had a kernel panic and my system was hosed.

So I reinstalled with ideneb 10.5.5 and the first thing I did when it was up and running was install the 10.5.6 combo update and same thing happened. Kernel panic and now I have to do another reinstall.

i know this problem.

Once in installing AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement is written into Extensions it immediately go up but without AppleHPET it crashes the system.

So there are ways

1. Install Disabler.kext. As I do.

2. Install DSDT patch to make CPUPM working. As Fassl do.

3. Delete the kext in cycle as Netkas do.

Asus P5K-E with iAtkos v.2.0i installed EFI v9 installed DSDT Patch, did the whole "while sleep rm" thingy during update to 10.5.6 downloaded from apple, not the combo.. replaced IONetworkingFamily.kext,AppleSMBIOS.kext and AppleHDA.kext system booted without a hitch..B)

When you get ready to "Generate Plugin" using UIstaller is asks you to name it, how do you know what to name it?

I have tried just intel, and other names but it's still grayed out ;)

Do I need to know the exact intel card I have? I have a vaio notebook with gma950.

Anyone know what I'm talking about???
