update went smooth on my ASUS P5B-E. My audio got wacked with the update, but that was it I just added the kext file again and repaired permissions after reboot it was back to normal. one odd thing though is that system profiler can not pull any of my hardware info. Is there a quick fix for this?

Hope you all have good luck with your updates.

Cheers

Well after reboot, I've got the "Still waiting for root device" message.

Any idea what kext it might be related to?

I had always avoided that error.

I run Chameleon + PCEFI V9 + patched DSDT.

Maybe it comes from my sas controller, but well the disks are still bootable.

It's just that UUID boot volume isn't found.

I have the same issue.

I installed with dvd retail and used generic.iso cdrom to boot.

I have an MSI Wind installed with a retail copy (updated to 10.5.5 with software update) using the boot312 method. I'm scared to be the first...

Install went fine, had to replace my audio afterwards. Other wise okay apart from bluetooth new kexts seem diabolical so replaced with ones from 10.5.5

At least on my Wind ("barebones" version), Boot132 doesn't work directly ... I have to boot the CD first, and then select "80" to boot Leo (10.5.5, with all updates).

I reapplied the DSDT patch and then I installed the 10.5.6 Combo Update.

Not a problem after the usual two reboots following the 10.5.6 installation.

Had to reinstall the Aliza audio patch, of course, but I already knew that.

10.5.6 has been flawless on my Wind so far.

It would be nice to be able to boot directly from the hard drive, however.

Booting from a USB stick has proved to be impossible with the sticks I have (Kingston DataTravelers).

For others who might be considering the Wind as a very low-cost MacOS X platform, use the "DS3L Kit" installation method, select Rev. 1.0 of the DS3L board, GMA950 video, and be sure to specify a video resolution which is appropriate for your monitor. For me, that is 1280 x 1024.

Usually related to AppleDecrypt or dsmos.

I dod a clean installation on a new hard disk to test, install iAtkos 10.5.5, did all updates but 10.5.6. Created a dsdt.aml and then created the plugin. after that installed 10.5.6 from apple site. All is working. the Hackintosh even seems quicker too.

I'm running on a Gigabyte P35 DS3-R and just did an update from 10.5.5 (up from Kalyway 10.5.2 w/ vanilla kernel & PC-EFI v9) to 10.5.6 using the delta update package and "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done"

No need for anything else - everything still works!

Wow, that would tend to imply that all this hoopla about DSDT being important is FUD. Very interesting. Nice that the newer distros don't even need that script run, but it's also nice that the old installs can continue to plug on without needing to do anything about DSDT.

TBH, I've been a bit out of the loop on all this and don't quite understand what DSDT is all about. I tried the method here but it bricked my install (had a full HDD image backup, just in case!) so I gave the trusty old method which saw me through the last few updates a try and voila!

Only problem is the whole 4GHz thing... I can't get OSX86Tools to change it back to 3GHz!

When you get ready to "Generate Plugin" using UIstaller is asks you to name it, how do you know what to name it?

I have tried just intel, and other names but it's still grayed out :(

Do I need to know the exact intel card I have? I have a vaio notebook with gma950.

Anyone know what I'm talking about???
