I have the iAtkos 5i DVD that I torrented. When I try to boot it, it gives me this error message:

System Config file '/com.apple.boot.S/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

I tried a new DVD, and I tried redownloading the torrent file. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how I can make it work?

I had that problem on the Kalyway 10.5.2 install. It was caused by the SATA DVD drive I was using. I grabbed an old IDE drive and using it I was able to install just fine. That being said I was able to use my SATA drive to install iAKTOS 5i just fine but there may be some issue with your hardware that is different than mine ;p try an IDE drive and see what happens :D

Okay...this is probably a stupid question, but what's an IDE drive? Is it like an external one that plugs in via USB? I've never done this before, so I really don't know what I'm doing.

Also, I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-CR410E, if that makes a difference.

It's not about the driver, I can't open the installation DVD!

And like I said, I'm new to this, so I don't know what wiki you're referring to.

then maybe you got a bad copy or try to re-burn or try to re-download or try to check your download file with md5 file

:P

Could someone that already did the install answer some of my problems please :wallbash:

I've tried to install the 5i after a panic on a software update.

I've tried so many settings.

I have a P5W-DH and i've tried to get it working again.

Does anyone have any idea on what could be happening?

The drive is on the jmicron controller.

In verbose mode, it seems like it tries to mount the drive (something about drive with uuid...) and then it panic.

It loads fine from the dvd bootloader.

Thanks

Hey I am getting the dreaded grey screen at install right when I boot to the DVD for the first time. I attached some pictures of the screen in -v so you can see what I am looking at. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated

My comp is a:

Dell D830 Laptop

Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8ghz

2 Gigs Ram

chipset is a Intel GM965

BIOS Version A12

Dell wireless 1490 dual band

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M

"NO OS SET"

I get the very same error no matter how I run iATKOS 5i. I have set ACHI on, Virtualization off etc.

Im on Gigabyte EP35 DS4 (v.2) FW-5..... and im not getting anywhere.

I tried the last 2 days to install it 20+ times, with different dvd brands (always slow burning), keeping it out of pause/freeze... and MD5 checksum was correct on my DVD. Burned with Toast Titanium 9 as Image disc 4x.

As painful as it is, im going back to Kalyway 10.5.2 (iDaneb 10.5.4 didn't do well for me).

"NO OS SET"? why dont you post a screenshot of yours, even on my forum i did not see a screen from you.

I wrote you on your forum, and willing to do one more install, just so I can show you the screenshot. I just need to know what kind of install I need to make.

then maybe you got a bad copy or try to re-burn or try to re-download or try to check your download file with md5 file

:D

I tried to re-burn and re-download. I haven't checked with the md5 file...how do you do that? I have a document that came with the iso file that says something about it, but I didn't know how to check it.

EDIT: I downloaded FastSum and checked the md5, which matched with the one written in the document that came with the ISO file. So I know that I have the right iso. Is it possible that the DVD I'm using isn't compatible? It's a DVD+RW. I assumed that this wasn't the problem, since I was still able to reboot with the DVD, I just couldn't get into the installer before it told me that a certain file was missing.

I still can't get my Ethernet or wireless card to work. I have tried iwi3945 for my wireless card and orBytes PCGenRTL8139ethernet.kext driver for my on-board rtl8139, I also tried the one provided in the dvd (realtek 8139) which uses the same text but it did not work either.

I have read since it is on-board i am supposed to use MMIO mode to access it but I don't know how to do that. I understand that it is probably something simple and I am just a not good with osx86, and for that matter this is my first time attempting to use mac, so I would highly appreciate some help.

DickDuff: Thank you for help

Hi Everyone,

Let me just say that I started about a couple of days ago learning about the OSx86 project and the iATKOS 5i is the first one that I tried. I have a Dell D600, yes I know it´s a little bit old, but everything works wonderfully well except the ethernet, (Broadcom 570x). I tried to download the modified version and followed the instructions from this topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=130589 but for some reason it doesn´t work. I replaced the old AppleBCM5701 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/ with the modified one, then ran the command (which gave errors), then rebooted and as soon as i rebooted I got an error message saying that there was something wrong with the modified kext. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, like I said, everything works wonderful, even the battery/power, audio, mouse, usb, video (i got that to the native resolution by adding <key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1400x1050x32</string>

in the boot.plist) but not the lan.

Setting that I used:

Chamaleon

AppleDecrypt

AppleSMBIOS-28

Kernel 9.20 ToH

APIC driver

Disabler.kext

Remove Thermal kexts

The rest unchecked.

PROPS TO THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THIS!!! :(

Has ANYONE gotten NVIDIA 8800 GT 512MB to work (whatever option chosen), WITH Quartz Extreme & Core Image support ?

This seems to be a nice release, and it seems there is trouble all over getting QE&CI to work under 10.5.5.

Im just wondering, if its even possible, or if I have to use extensive guides, different patches, paficist installations yadayada.

So much for progress, if one of the most important things are lacking behind... graphics support.

Works a treat on my machine - I just picked the EFI Strings option for 8800GT 512MB.

XD

and why by the way this instalation stucks randomly... some time it wont even boot dvd, some time its shows shotdown error when i try to format hdd... and so on... :S

Okay, while this ISO is really innovative and great for giving a BOOT-132 install options out of the box, there are some REALLY strange things with this disc.

During install, i selected the "Intel Speedstep a" option, which is supposed to install mercurysquad's IntelEnhancedSpeedStep.kext and the SpeedStep.app. However, after the installation completed, the IntelEnhancedSpeedStep.kext is nowhere to be found!! Is it even present? If I'm missing something, can someone please tell me where it's located? Is be glad to know, thanks!!

The Speedstep.app is present though, but i dont know if it does anything at all
