Rammjet
unfortunately, even if i got rid of the partition error, osx will still not boot up. the last message pops up seems like it is waiting for something. "still waiting for root device" or something like that... In my experience here trying to help people, a waiting root device error means different things whether you are booting the install DVD or booting your installation. If booting the install DVD, it means there is a problem finding the boot device and some attention needs to be paid to getting the system boiled down to the basics: a hard drive on primary master and a DVD drive on primary slave. Set with jumpers, not depending on cable select. This is obviously hard to do in a laptop, so the next best thing there is to head for VMware. If booting your installation, the error usually results when you didn't choose the correct packages under the Customize section. Verify the capabilities of your computer - whether it is SSE2 or SSE3 and choose only one of those. Choose only AMD packages or Intel packages, not both. So, since you are having trouble booting your installation, I would reinstall and carefully choose your packages under the Customize section. Rammjet
yea the big title "HACKED Group" and then "Owned" and got nothings under that Maybe you need to scroll down, because pictures I've seen of that installation have an AMD Enabler and then an Intel package below that. I think you need the AMD enabler. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=2806 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/31/#findComment-162482 Share on other sites
newbmac
Hi, I am trying to install on my USB external hard drive. Machine Details: Dell 8400 Chipset i925x rev B1 Southbridge: i82801FB PIV Prescott -- SSE3 confirmed SATA (disabled since I was getting kernel errors so thought this might be the problem) OS X Version: 10.4.6 JAS DVD Install went fine. Installer found the drive, partitioned it etc. I selected the appropriate patches (I think). At boot it starts up but I get a kernel panic. Screen shot of the boot details of the Kernel panic are below: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/31/#findComment-162483 Share on other sites

newbmac
Can you remember what packages you selected? It is my friends computer, I am posting for him He can't remmeber specifically and will re-do setup with me. He says he remembers only doing the Intel SSE3 patches and the intel decryptors, and none of the AMD ones (since he doesn't have an AMD CPU). Rammjet
what do you mean you dont understand itallian??? She is spamming every group that has "Asus" or "x1600" in it, even foreign language ones. paulebappie
It works! Used Asus P4P800-E motherboard Geforce Ti4600 512Mb memory Pentium 2.4 (SSE2) Goatsecx image There were 2 SATA disks connected in Raid 0 and the installer didn't recognise the Raid disks so i installed an extra 80Gb disk on IDE to install OSX 10.4.6 Als no keyboard when booting OSX, PS/2 keyboard & USB mouse, i converted the mouse to PS/2, worked! That worked great! Also the update to 10.4.7 (Jas) Thanks alot for all the info, keep up the good work! Jennifer
haha... sorry guys... but i couldnt find the perfect thread so I posted them into the relevant ones... so I could increase my chance of getting an helpful answer. And no Iam not 10 years old but Iam stuck and need help. I just copy pasted the message I sent to the Italian thread about an Asus and forgot to remove that part here and some other places. I really don't see the problem with that, but if you do i won't do it anymore.. When you installed, right before clicking the "Install" button, did you first click the "Customize" button and select packages that pertain to your computer? You had to click the little arrows to reveal the individual packages. Select only AMD or Intel packages, not both. Select only SSE2 or SSE3 depending upon your processor's capability, but not both. Yes, I remember pressing customize, but also remeber that i had two choises, Some X11 (didn't check that) and the Amd and Intel patch, but there was no (don't think so) further arrows (+) , so I checked the patch for Amd an Intel... maybe I was wrong but I remember checking if that patch could be opened (sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what i mean, like if there was a + to open the patch further) ... am I wrong? The one I used was the Hottiso 10.4.6 , is that the one to recommend by the way?
