After giving it much thought, I’ve decided I need a MacBook Pro. (And I'll pay you to help me out... see below)

I’ll have to admit that it’s difficult to run a Mac website when you don’t actually own one. :) There are a lot of things members have asked us to add to the blog – reviews, tips, etc – that are made much more difficult by living in the Windows world. I've been a Mac fan for awhile (thus this site) and I've decided that if I am going to give this website my all, I need to do it with a Mac in hand.

But I’m too poor to afford a new MacBook and I’m not running OSx86 on my PC. After thinking about it, and seeking advice from a few of you, I’ve decided to embark on an experiment… I’m going to get my MacBook Pro with referrals.

Like you, I’m a little wary of referral programs. (I tried one about a year ago that just didn’t work, but later found out that it was due to the tackiness of that network.) After doing a lot of investigation I've discovered that the secret is finding a good referral network... and that it can be done. The site I'm using, Free4Me, is listed as a Grade A Program by the folks over at Anything4Free and have gotten nothing but great reviews from the people who have used them. I've talked with several people who have used this site (the owner regularly hangs out in that forum to answer questions, etc) and it comes highly recommended.

So here’s the deal.

I need 11 people to sign up and complete 3 easy offers with Free4Me using this link. There are several "offers" you can choose - all of them are quick and simple. I'd recommend signing up for these:

First page (complete 2 offers)

Complete Home - You're billed exactly $1 - just cancel within 30 days. You receive 2 free $10 Lowe's Home Improvement Gift Card (which you can sell on ebay if you’d like). Check out what other people say about this offer.

Netmarket - You're billed exactly $1 - again, just cancel within 30 days. You will receive a free mp3 player or digital camera or site credit (they change the gifts from time to time). Here are some reviews of this offer.

Those are just the ones I recommend (and the ones I've done). You can also do those Tickle IQ tests and several other things which are cheap and fun. I like the ones above since they're 2 dollars total and you get free stuff, which is always nice. They're also easy to cancel.

Second page (complete 1 offer)

[/size]Earthlink: This is really a great deal - sign up for 6 months of Earthlink dial up for 10 bucks (which I'll pay for). In a week or so after you've gotten credit (should be instantly) you give them a call to cancel (it usually takes about 10 minutes). It's fast, easy, and hassle free. This is the page 2 offer that I'd highly recommend, since you don't have to deal with the mess of casinos or the credit issues with the hosting. If you are planning on trying this offer, let me know - I've got a coupon code which should make it free! Click here for reviews of this offer.

I'll pay the the money for you to do these offers. I can afford 200-300 dollars much sooner than I can afford the almost 2000 required for a new Mac. If you have any issues getting credit for the offers, just submit a "No-Credit" ticket on the site (and shoot me an email to let me know) - you shouldn't have any issues, but occasionally they happen and are resolved quickly.

That means:

Total Cost: $0

You keep:

Free Lowe's Cards

Free Gift/Site Credit

Various other free stuff depending on the offer you choose

(I've also got invites to some of the best torrent sites that I can give like oink and bitme.org)

Don't forget that you can also get your own free stuff too, like a Cinema Display, Mac Mini, iSight (just 1 referral needed!), iBook G4, PowerBook G4. You can get all the info here.

The OSx86 Project isn't a commercial venture, which is why I'm doing this all through referrals. Believe it or not, helping me out in this will make the OSx86 Project better for everyone - more timely, more informed, etc.

If you're interesting in helping out, just PM me or IM me on AIM as "Mashugly" - I'd be happy to help you get started getting your own things. I've done this myself, I can vouch for its safety and legitimacy - you can trust me that it's the real thing. Thanks for your help!

Let me get your ipod and i'll get 3 people to do it :)

that looks pretty nice!

but all those good programs are restricted to us & canada citizens...

nothing (or almost nothing) for us poor german guys

just looked at the top things on Anything4Free, none was for germany...

has anyone got suggestions about the best german programs? or a site like Anything4Free only for germany?

oh and don't tell me FreePay, already tried it and it didn't work out...

mtin, I checked about Germany - you can indeed sign up for the offers! Instead of getting actual iPods, though, they just pay you in cash via paypal! You can also do the offers for $400 cash, etc.

To get this you'll just sign up with FreeMac4Me and then after you complete the offers, switch to one of their other sites to get whatever you want. The site is really easy to use and the owner is always around for questions if you have any.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, if you don't like the offers I mentioned above, there are a ton more - I'm sure there will be something for you there. Plus, I'm paying for it - what have you got to lose? :)

Phreakster-

Yeah, it definitely works for those in the UK. They'll ship you your MacBook Pro just like they'll ship mine!

If anyone is wanting to help out but is wary or just curious, please send me an email. I'd be happy to talk about and it and help you get your free stuff as well.

Update: 8 people have signed up and 1 has completed the offers (with one just waiting to be confirmed)! There are also several new page 2 offers for those interested, including some great $20 casino offers (which, again, I'll pay for!).

Thanks everyone - this computer will go a long way in helping me improve this site!

Sure, go ahead - several people have done the tickle offers, which I'd be happy to pay for. If it's on page one and it costs less than 10 USD, I'll still cover it. :)

A few of the sites that alll referral sites use, like Tickle don't play well with anything other than IE sometimes, so if you're on a PC, use it just to be on the safe side.

Just waiting for my instant page 1 offers to become completed for you and then I'll be doing the hosting... shame that one takes 3-5 weeks while the casino ones are instant. I'd like you to get your MBP ASAP and that way you can start playing with it and letting us all know what you think.

How long do the instant offers usually take to show up completed? I hope it's not an issue I used safari.

Thanks A@ron! Nah, safari shouldn't be an issue. The offers show up pretty soon after you complete them - the page 1 offers only take a day or so, and although the hosting takes a few weeks, it's a worst case scenario (they had some people scamming the hosting offer, so they had to make that long wait time).

Also, there is a new casino offer which has instant credit! All you have to do is deposit $50 dollars. If this is the offer you'd rather use, I'll pay the $50 once you're confirmed! I would recommend betting the money several times so that it's not seen as offer fraud (since if people sign up and immediately cancel, offers typically disappear.) You must use internet explorer for this offer, and make sure you sign up for it on page 2!

This site has a system set up so that as soon as the offer sites let them know, they update your page. If it takes more than a day or so, let me know!

Unstable Connection -

You can do offers yourself so long as its from a different ip and different credit card. I'm hoping I won't have to, but I may do some on my own if I need to.

colonels1020 - I'm not sure how many you need for the cinema display. It may cost you more than a dollar, but I'll obviously pay to get you started! (meaning that it could be free in the end!)

Mashugly, I'm willing to do the iPower thing for you, it's not a problem at all, how do you deposit money back? Paypal? Let me know, and I'll do it as soon as your reply. And I can do the others as it's only $2 lol

Thanks,

Andrew

And actually another thing I want my free iSight, maybe if I do the whole referral thing for you, you can do one for me? So I can get a free iSight? We should talk in e-mail as I'm not always on the forums, so I'm sure you can see my email, give me a holler and we can discuss this, we both can get something out of the deal :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I haven't gotten any spam - the offers all have little boxes that you can check to not get their mail.

Also I canceled from the NetMarket and Complete Home offers yesterday - it was a breeze. It took around 5 minutes and was no hassle at all (it's mostly automated). I was actually pleasantly surprised! If you're in a hurry just tell them you're on an international cell phone making an expensive call (which was the truth for me) and they'll whisk you right through. :)

Alternatively you can try to see what they'll give you - one guy I talked to actually got them to give him store credit! He used it, then canceled.
