Odd, I think I'm getting the rear 2 channels when I have a 5.1 source. I don't have any problems when listening to anything in stereo. My 2.0 speakers are definitely hooked up to the correct output. I've tried the other outputs as well, but they didn't give me any sound at all. Any ideas?

10.5.8

Gigabyte EP35-DS3L

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (SB0240)

I would go to the Audio/Midi Setup in the Utilities folder to make sure that it is set to Stereo when you check in the Configure Speakers screen while you are there may as well test the speakers.

I was about to crawl under a rock because I remember messing around in there a couple of months ago. I double checked, my speakers are configured properly in stereo with the front left and right giving me the correct test static sounds.

Only idea I have left is checking the program you are using to play back the files to see if it has an audio output selection in it that may be trying to use the 5.1 on its own.

This happens in both Quicktime and VLC, so I think it's a global problem.

update!!!

copied kext on /System/library/extension

chmod -R 755 kXAudioDriver.kext/

chown -R root:wheel kXAudioDriver.kext/

kextload kXAudioDriver.kext/

Work on my system!!!

Glad to know that the driver will still work under Lion. I am fearfully counting down for the day when the driver would no longer work. :S

I see no end to this driver unless iOS lands as main OS on macs (which is the point where apple sales will drop  so) i doubt if it can ever happen.

By adding x64 Eugene solved many future problems... :)

@Morfy: added you workaround on page1 :D

I'm able to get sound on Audigy 2 with Lion. However there are frequent crackles while listening to music. Sometimes when I surf the web it lags the sound a bit then plays. I'm running i7 920 with 6gb ram which should be sufficient for these tasks. Has anyone else experienced these cracking noises? Thanks.

Yes I have, I asked but didn't get an answer

It's been several years since this driver was released, and quite a while since the last Mac OS update.

From scanning the thread, it seems that the main developer is no longer working with OSX?

This is a real - real - shame, as i've finally found my original front panel for my Audigy and was hoping to use the line inputs (nice clean pre-amp) with my guitar to lay some tracks down with guitar rig and garage band.

Is there any alternatives?

Anyone know of some affordable usb/firewire input devices that i can jack straight into to jam?

Supported by 10.7 also?

Thanks for the work so far, 5.1 is awesome.

Update: I've downgraded bios to F10 and downloaded DSDT.aml for F10 fro kexts.com and it solved the problem.

Im using 1.11b0 in OS X Lion with a Sound Blaster Live! and it's working really well. Only thing I noticed is it seems to hit the cpu pretty hard while gaming, mainly in World of Warcraft. I may be imagining this but has anyone else noticed increased CPU usage with the kX drivers?

Otherwise great work! It's nice to be able to use my 12 year old sound card again :) Strange how computer audio hasn't really changed much in all these years.

Got my Audigy2 in the mail yesterday and it works great EXCEPT in iTunes, safari, and quicktime (to name a few) only play from the rear channel speakers of my quadraphonic speaker set. In World of Warcraft it works as it's supposed to though thru the front.

Any suggestions?

Found my answer here http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/rear.php?language=en

Basically I swapped the black and green audio plugs and configured the speakers in Audi MIDI Setup accordingly.

ALSO (on a side note) sound flower does help the problem but i had to compile a Lion compatible version, i found the instructions here

http://kineme.net/forum/General/soundflowerforlion

It makes audio come from all the speakers but I'm worried I'm not getting the quadraphonic sound i'd like to have. Does anyone know if Soundflower maps the front left and right to the back two speakers or does it pass the correct data when using a source that supports multiple speakers.

Hi, I bought a GA z68x-UDH3-B3 and was previously running my Audigy 2 Platinum Pro ZS fine on an ASUS P55 motherboard, however with the GA board, when my system wakes from sleep, I lose audio output and the only way to get it back is to restart my PC.

This happens with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion.

Hi all,

I have some problems with 2.0 audio upmix to 5.1. I've downloaded the soundflowerbed-mod (that's in the first post), but it gets distorted after a few minutes. I also tried the AU Lab method, but I've got the same results... it gets crackling and distorted after a few minutes.

Anybody have a good method to upmix 2.0 audio to 5.1. I really want to listen my MP3's on my 5.1 speakers. Thanks.

This drivers works fine with Lion 10.7.1 but some apps don't work Like FaceTime (You need build in audio) Any way of fixing this issue? Anyone using this driver with Lion and has FaceTime working?

The isgight cam works fine with say Logicpro, it can record sound fine....

I use an external isight cam, worked fine in 10.6.x with FaceTime
