needs audio patching
EDIT: unfortunatelly bellow code doesn't work anymore for ALC 888 patching
10.6.8 boots a little bit faster than previous builds
sudo perl -pi -e 's|\x85\x08\xec\x10|\x88\x08\xec\x10|g' /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA

Updated and it killed my sound (new AppleHDA) so I had to replace it with the kext from 10.6.2 again. (ALC888S)
boot does seem faster that's for sure.

SleepEnabler.kext requires pmVersion to be set to 23 in 10.6.8.
Edit: NeoMatrix125 is correct, SleepEnabler causes a KP. Delete it to boot.

Works fine, boot faster than 10.6.7 but killed audio (alc889a)
applehda seem to be loaded
Edit : Because of layout.xml and platforms.xml like Lion's applehda
applehda seem to be loaded

After this upgrade my system hangs at boot with last line:
[ PCI configuration begin ]
Any ideas why? Booting in safe mode doesn't work either, neither with option GraphicsEnabler=No

SleepEnabler is a No go for this one
If you have SleepEnabler, Delete the Kext and update!
You will get kernel panics otherwise!
Also BiTRiP
I had that too but it seemed to just go past it and boot :/
