i have an HP pavillion dv4000 that works pretty good. The only things that won't work are itunes, quicktime and then the built in wireless. Everything else works great though.

hi there, this thread is great, I added a link to it in the wiki. however, I think we should make up something like a built hackintosh logo. having a guide for the right configuration for, say, the current dell, hp and toshiba models would really help this scene. just my $.02

My friend bought Acer Travelmater 2423 few weeks ago, and it works like a charm. Everything from graphics (Intel GMA 900 & 1280*800 14.1") to WiFi (Atheros). Only downside of it is that it has Celeron 1.5Ghz CPU... But the price is nice... only 550 euro  And it is quite well made, and it only weighs 2.3kg.

please how you did it work?
i have same graphics same wifi card and same cpu (same weight)

i have an acer travelmate 2428.. it has super specs for a low price ( around 600 euro )

i installed both the JAS 10.4.6 and 10.4.8 DVDs, but on 10.4.8 the ACPICPUThrottle does not work ( the 8.8.1 kernel is not supported (yet)), so i stuck with the 4.6.

pentium m 1.7 ghz ( sse2 only, trying to find a solution for itunes 7 )
gma900 works with a patch ( but the ones from the installer dvds are useless, go get diabolik gma900 fixer pkg ), CI and QE working, full widescreen resolution, built a vga dongle from a clip and a serial 9pin housing - it's ok and doesn't show much
wired ethernet works
modem doesn't ( who cares )
pcmcia ( ete 1410 ) does not work, or better, no driver yet. bad but tolerable.
intel 2200 wifi, there is a driver but in a primitive phase... ordered zytel usb stick, had one with realtek rtl8187 chip but the driver was lousy AND buggy. some day there will be a 2200 driver :)
audio works wonderfully
Hardware keys for controlling volume and brightness working
patched powermanagement.bundle works ( if the battery indicator should go away, just recopy the patched bundle again )
the dvd burner works

standby works first time, but when sent to sleep a second time it won't go into standby and hangs...
if you close the lid it goes to standby, so i will find either a solution for the standby or one to disable the sleep on lid close.

battery lasts around 3.15 hours with the ACPICPUThrottle, it's quite ok... still trying to figure out how to set him to 1,2 ghz permanently ( on windows he goes down until 700 mhz, ubergreat battery time.. )

resolving the intel 2200 issue is a matter of time, the standby issue a matter of google :P everything else just rocks.
now my mac mini has a nice buddy :P

ah touchpad works out of the box too

Lenovo 3000 c200 working fairly well with tweaks.

Originally came with Celeron M, installed Maxxus 10.4.3 fine,
Upped to Core 2 Duo M 1.6, installed both 10.4.3 and 10.4.8 Semthex
945GM (Quartz 'n' Core flawless)
ICH7
Realtek 8139 eth (needs medium level tweak)
Realtek HDAudio (862 - anybody else run into this one?)
Broadcom 4311 wireless (needs simple tweak)
Ricoh 832 flash media port (not tried)
Broadcom bluetooth (not tried)

Honestly, 10.4.3 seemed to work better and smoother, but to take fuller advantage of Apple Pro Apps, I have to run 10.4.4 or better. The hardest tweak on this laptop is the audio. Got M-Audio MobilePreUSB working with M-Audio Intel driver, but really choppy. The paperclip thing works on install, but I just used an ext monitor to install and then I can reboot into XGA screen no prob.

Just bought an Acer Aspire 3680-2022 for $399 after $50 rebate at Micro Center. Amazingly, it runs Jas Mac OS 10.4.8 very well. In fact, the only thing that doesn't work is the built in speakers (but headphones work fine).

Specs:
Celeron M 1.73 GHz 1mb cache (65nm Yonah based with SSE3) - Mac OS thinks its a Core Duo
GMA 950 graphics - QE/CI and 1200x800 fully supported
Atheros 5005G Wi-Fi - works great after switching out the kext with one from 10.4.5
Synaptics touchpad - no scrolling, but tapping works fine
Realtek ALC883 Hi-def audio - headphone jack works fine, but internal speakers don't
Marvell Yukon ethernet - don't know if it works because I haven't tried it
TSST combo drive - plays dvds and burns cds like its supposed to
Hitachi SATA hard drive - was supposed to come with an 80gb unit, but got 120gb instead!

Overall a very sturdy, and fairly lightweight machine. Definitely worth 4 Ben Franklins!!

Is the Radeon 9600 really the only working graphics chip? I mean the GMA950 is great for the home user, but I want OSX for pretty much one reason: Final Cut Pro. I want a Core Duo chip, but it seems ALL the core duo laptops that work are GMA950.

Unless there has been a breakthrough that I'm unaware of, Radeon 9600 is not fully supported. You can get QE/CI but only with "mouse artifacts" and other garbage appearing on the screen. Resolution changing is not supported either, although you can get standard resolutions by editing the kernel boot file (as you would with VESA).

Have you already managed to resolve the audio issue? Did you already try the HDA/ALC883Audio.mpkg patches?
Most budget models of Acer (also Travelmate 2482/2483/2492/2493) seem to use the ALC883. Generally they look very interesting as a cheap Hackintosh laptop.
I am just interested to know if anyone has already managed to get the internal speakers working with the patches that have been released recently.

Regarding the paperclip method, I was under the impression that it is only required for the GMA900 and not the GMA950 - am I wrong? I would also disagree with the statement that the Radeon 9600 is the "only" properly working gfx chip. From what I read, the GMA950 is usually even less hassle to get working, sometimes not requiring *any* editing/patching.

Oh cool! I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 and I will try to install OSX on it today. If it works on the C200, the chances are good that it will work on the N100 too!
