1. NVidia Quadro FX 580 dual screen

I have a DELL Precision T1500 installed with Mac OS X 10.7.3. The overall installation was smooth: I have wired network (thanks to BCM5722D.kext), wireless, and accelerated graphics (either with Graphics Enabler or NVEnabler). My challenge now is to enable two monitors. My graphic card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 (0x10de 0x0659, rev: 0x00a1). I have selected to use NVEnabler (and to disable GraphicsEnabler) to try to get dual screen working. /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist contains: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>No</string> /System/Library/Extensions/NVDAResman.kext/Contents/Info.plist contains: <key>IOPCIClassMatch</key> <string>0x03000000&0xff000000</string> <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0x065910de</string> /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext/Contents/Info.plist contains: <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string> 0x065910de&0xfff0ffff /Extra/Extensions/NVEnabler.kext/Contents/Info.plist is attached to this post. The screens addresses (0x00000110 and 0x00000112) come from Windows 7 properties on each screen. One screen is connected using a standard DVI cable, that is the main monitor - this one works great (and is accelerated). The other screen is connected using NVIDIA proprietary cable to DVI and it is not detected. Mac OS X display preferences show two screens, but the second screen is listed as a VGA display… as if it did not understand that this is a DVI connected LCD panel. I am attaching my ioreg dump using ioreg -lw0. What did I miss? Is it at all possible to get both screens working with this card? NVEnabler_ioreg_dump.txt.gz org.chameleon.Boot.plist.gz Info.plist.gz
2. I have a DELL Precision T1500 as well (Core i7 @2.93, 8 GB). I followed the ##### install method and got Lion running. However, I am unable to enable QE/CI on the graphic card NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 (0x0659 / 0x00A1). The card is recognised by "Graphic Enabler" and I get the correct screen resolution, but not accelerated. How did you solve this?
3. ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

No answer on my previous post? How does the Apple driver works? Does it auto-detect somehow the EDID of the attached external display? Thanks, Mathieu.
4. ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

Hello, I have a quick question. My ATI FireGL 5200 works great now: I get QE/CI without mouse tearing on the laptop display in 1600x1200. Changing resolution works, but can sometimes lead to corrupted screenshots ; that's alright because I never actually need to change the resolution on my laptop LCD screen. However, I wasn't able to get a second display (attached to the CRT port) recognized. I would like to be able to run presentations from this laptop and therefore to attach various projectors. The projector get the grey boot screen, but once the graphic card driver initializes, there's no more image on the projector. Running detect diplay doesn't help (and it's somehow weird: it blinks the screen the first time as expected, but seems to do nothing the second time around). I reckon that entering the EDID of the external projector in the driver plist file could help, however that's not really practical because I do not know in advance the EDID of the projector I will connect to... Any solution? Thanks, Mathieu.
5. These laptops can run OS X, but they still have many issues when compared to a real Mac. For instance, my T60p (I am not sure why the T60 made it in your list, and what are the differences with the T60p) works pretty well: see list in my sig. However, it doesn't recover from sleep (actually it doesn't sleep, it hibernates), network works but I have to plug the cable after boot, wifi doesn't work yet and my external wifi doesn't seem to handle WPA correctly (so I have to switch my configs to use WEP). Also I tried connecting the laptop to an external projector for a presentation and that didn't work (the boot screen goes to the projector, but there is no more image when the video card driver initializes). The touchpad doesn't do two-finger scrolling (although it can with the synaptics driver but then it's so fast that it becomes unusable for anything else that two-finger scrolling). Last, I didn't dare yet upgrading to 10.4.9 as I just managed to get the ATI FireGL 5200 to work. Mathieu.
6. AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

That's an easy one: put the install DVD back in and go to System/Installation/Packages. You will find the installer for the Azalia package there. Mathieu. (I had the same problem actually ;p)
7. SoundMAX installation help!

Hello, I have a slightly newer model of the same laptop, with the same audio card. However, following the instructions you have linked in your blog, I get audio out working fine without the issues you have mentioned. Mathieu.
8. ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

Hello all, I got my ATI FireGL 5200 to work without mouse tearing: used the files provided by adidasprince. changed the device-id to match mine: 0x71c4. changed the LVID for the one retrieved with Phoenix. chown and chmod the three subtrees. deleted the extensions cache files. rebooted. I reckon that the key to make that work is not to forget to update the permissions on all the three subtrees: ATIinject, ATINDRV and IONDRVSupport. Also I always was under the false assumption that adidasprince had same device-id than mine, so it took a long time before I figured out I had to change 71c5 into 71c4. Thank you all for the help. Now it's time for me to work on getting the sound card to work. Mathieu.
9. ATI Mobility X1600, X1700 and others

Didn't work for me. I have a thinkpad T60p 2008-93A (Core Duo 2.33 with ATI FireGL 5200 1600x1200). I got QE/CI working thanks to adidasprince, but I have the characteristic mouse tearing and the issues when coming back from OpenGL. I ran Phoenix on XP and got the following EDID: EDID BYTES: 0x 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F ------------------------------------------------ 00 | 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 30 AE 46 40 00 00 00 00 10 | 00 0F 01 03 80 1E 16 78 0A BD 30 91 54 4F 8B 26 20 | 21 50 54 00 00 00 81 80 A9 40 01 01 01 01 01 01 30 | 01 01 01 01 01 01 48 3F 40 30 62 B0 32 40 40 C0 40 | 13 00 30 E4 10 00 00 19 BC 34 40 30 62 B0 32 40 50 | 40 C0 13 00 30 E4 10 00 00 19 00 00 00 0F 00 A9 60 | 43 32 A9 43 28 14 02 00 09 E5 00 00 00 00 00 FE 70 | 00 48 56 31 35 30 55 58 31 2D 31 30 30 0A 00 B0 which I remplaced into ATIinject.kext/Contents/Info.plist (renamed from Info2.plist to keep it simple): 00FFFFFF FFFFFF00 30AE4640 00000000 000F0103 801E1678 0ABD3091 544F8B26 21505400 00008180 A9400101 01010101 01010101 0101483F 403062B0 324040C0 130030E4 10000019 BC344030 62B03240 40C01300 30E41000 00190000 000F00A9 4332A943 28140200 09E50000 000000FE 00485631 35305558 312D3130 300A00B0 but I am stuck at the grey screen: the screen blinks quickly and the grey screen remains static. Rebuilding extensions, and fixing permissions doesn't help. Moving ATIinject.kext out of the way bring me back to the mouse tearing accelerated graphics. I am attaching my ATIinject.kext file modified. Could someone have a look to tell me if I did anything wrong? Thank you, Mathieu. EDIT: with the attachment. ATIinject.kext.zip
10. Hello, I have a very similar laptop (T60p with Core Duo 2.15 and the FireGL 5200). It runs Mac OS X 10.4.8 fine with a few limitations: - no power management. I have the battery meter, but it's not possible to sleep the laptop - no accelerated graphics (no QE/CI). Native resolution works fine (1600x1200 here), but without QE and CI games will not run (or rather very very slowly), and Parallel is a pain to use - no wifi. That's the Intel 3945, experimental drivers are being developed but for now you won't have it. - no line in, no mic in. You can listen to music, but forget about iChat, ... unless you buy an USB mic of some kind. And it doesn't have an integrated camera. What's working: both cores are working (but mine is a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo), USB and Bluetooth are working. The keyboard is working fine, but feels weird: Alt is Apple, Windows is Option, Ctrl is Ctrl. The sound volume control work but without feedback on the screen. You will not need BootCamp: install Windows XP first, and then Mac OS and you will have a dual boot menu. Overall, you will not want to use Mac OS X full time on this laptop. It's a Windows laptop, and can run Mac OS X with a lot of limitations. You will miss the real thing (note that upgrades may break your install). If you want to run Mac OS X and you can choose your laptop, then you should choose a MacBook or a MacBook pro. Mathieu.
11. Any update on this topic yet? I also have a FireGL 5250, and I'd love to see QE/CI working...
12. Thank you. kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/RT2500USBWirelessDriver.kext Gave me the answer: invalid Bundle... I had made a small typo modifying Info.plist, and indeed the driver was never loaded properly. It now works beautifuly... For reference: DELL D610 ATI Radeon X300 - 1400x1050x32 - working (native LCD resolution) Bluetooth - working Broadcom integrated ethernet network card - somehow working (have to init it with the BIOS) Linksys Wireless-G (WUSB54G) - working Integrated Intel Wireless card - NOT working (yet)
13. Could you post all the steps needed to get it to work? I've installed the Ralink driver, and I have the WUSB54G ver 4. System profiler shows it in the USB device tree with Version 0.04, Product ID 0x000d and Vendor ID 0x13b1. I also edited /System/Library/Extensions/RT2500USBWirelessDriver.kext/Content/Info.plist to add a new section with the excerpt you have given. Unfortunately, when I plug the device on the USB port, I have no message in /var/log/system.log and WirelessUSBUtility still tells me "No device!"... What step did I miss? Thanks.
