JaS OSx86 10.5.4 Client Server Intel SSE2 SSE3 released

apowerr

JaS's latest DVD comes with the following release notes:

Finally after much hard work and effort, repackaging / cutting driver to have the most stable release I could, along with months of hard work my version of OS X for Intel based systems is ready. This release features upgrading from the customize installation menu along with StageXNU (SSe2 SSe3 kernel thx everyone in xnu-chat for keeping older hardware alive with this great kernel) , NVKush (thx Diabolik) , chameleon (thx zef & Kabyl), SMBIOSResolver (thx Superhai), SMBIOS (thx iGuru) The whole range of Radeon HD Series drivers (thx netkas and lastExile). HDA drivers (thx Taruga) Along with the standard drivers usually found in other leopard install dvds. This release does not include any apps/mods to the UI. Also this is a OS X 10.5.4 Server (thx for the packages f41qu3 and SJobs) / Client installation dvd. Installation of Server will require a valid serial that I have not included. The base for this release was built with slipstream (thx Dense). DVD art by Realityiswhere.

Thanks to everyone over at irc.osx86.hu , irc.moofspeak.net , hackint0sh.org , insanelymac , and osx86scene.

Remember the point of this is to have some fun and learn a bit if we can. Also to help each other out, remember " no one left behind that can be supported" this is our motto and our creed.

JaS's releases are renowned for their high quality, and no doubt this one will continue the trend. Good luck installing everyone, I know I can't wait ;)

EDIT: Got a screenshot of the Installer options, looks very complete with a plethora of drivers. Nice work! -REVENGE

@joeventura

mate maybe your laptop already have a problem i mean hardware problem that's why it didn't work. And some leopard required atleast 1.6Ghz to function well.. Some perhaps. my hp2710p is a dual core 1.2 ghz and it is very spiffy on that.

The technical specifications of Mac OSX Leopard are:

Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 processators with >867 MHz and >512Mb of RAM

Oh yea, some Intel ICH7 boards have problems with AFP.

Symptoms are:

- Problems to connect the iTunes library via LAN

- problems to connect devices like iPhone with write access

Fix is here, it would be great to kextcache this in the future,

if not already done.

BTW:

I wonder why the IntelICH7toICH9AHCIController package

is empty. Is it preplaced for future upgrades or a faulty pkg?

Cheers, xtraa

I just installed on my Lenovo/IBM T61p. Everything seemed to go alright, had to boot off the cd to get into the OS, but I expected that. The only problem I'm having is during the welcome setup program thingy, it crashes when it ask if I have another Mac I want to transfer settings from. It sits there thinking about it, then crashes and goes back to the first Welcome screen. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Thanks JaS for a Great Release (Before now, no one was supporting my T61p!)

boot in single user mode (with -s)

type (exactly)....

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw / (note the spacing after -uw...very important)

touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone (note the fullstop before AppleSetupDone)

passwd root

(type the new password...it wont show but it's definitely typing in a password as the cursor doesnt move, need to repeat the password for verification)

(type) reboot

It should now boot to a log in.

the user name is root and the password is the one you made earlier

go to system preferences and click on accounts. de-activate the administrator account and add your own account. All done :construction: Good luck!

thank you so much for your quick reply! that did the trick. Now I'm tribooting xp, ubuntu 8.04, and JaS 10.5.4!

Thanks Again !

OK, so I have a new problem(s)

1: Video Support is not full

I have a nVidia Quadro FX 540m (256mb) but System profiler is only reconizing it as "Display" with 32mb of Vram. the Device ID is 0x040c and it says no Kext Loaded. Also my native screen resolution is 1920x1200 and I can't change it from 1024x768.

2: Wireless/Lan is not Detected

I have a Atheros Wireless card (the ThinkPad one, not the Intel one) that I'm sure I checked when I installed under the device reconization. as far as device ID's go, I couldn't tell you because it's not reconizing it.

Thanks in advanced for any replies!

Try installing that driver for video. Might work :)

As far as the Wireless... i have no expirence with those chips. Boot into xp to get the device id and see if anyone else has had luck with that one. Or get a Dell 1500 its draft N and ive had no problems with it. Cheap as hell on ebay.\

Also, i forgot to mention. The reason your system was restarting the welcome screen over and over was because of the NIC. What NIC is in that thing??? (guessing broadcom...... aka not good)

. . learn to read: 'joeventura' is clearly trying to get Leopard onto his laptop . . *any* Leo. He is clagging up a news thread specific to JaS 10.5.4 with his own concerns specific to his hardware & non-specific to JaS 10.5.4

. . & bug off yerself. This place is a no-Troll-zone

I read joeventura's posts and found he tried the JAS 10.5.4 distro, and the problem he had with it. He also mentioned the other distro's he's used. But I assume he's just looking for answers to the problems he has with Jas's distro. If not, I agree with you 100%

Joeventura, like shoarthing I agree. DO NOT DISCUSS PROBLEMS WITH OTHER DISTRO'S on this thread!

You are correct, it started with the JaS distro. I provided the other info for information purposes only,

if I got off track I apoligize, All my work has been focused around the latest JaS distro, I actually sent him

some $$$ in that regard.

My laptop works flawlessly so its not hardware, it must be something unusual about whatever may have changed from 10.4.8 JaS distro to this one because JaS 10.4.8 w PFF1 and 2 works very well.

Nothing major will be resolved for me until JaS returns so I will try not to bog the thread down with any irrelevant data :)

Yes but this is not a original mac it is a hackintosh that's why i said it my not function well unlike if he has a g4 or g5 mac it may work..

@joeventura

In using a kalyway 10.5.1, you must only choose sse2 system and if you partition your harddisk in mbr, check the mbr partition and that's all you have to choose when installing on a kalyway 10.5.1. I hope it helps..

@kramark

I never get past the Select install language before it freezes, how would I choose SSE2 before that

On Kalyway or Jas Install disto?

Thanks

Do you have any settings in your bios? check your settings it may help..

I am also getting the same error when I try to install on an ASUS P5KR.

Does this has something to do with the mobo?

I get something similar. It errors out when it tries to install the 10.5.4comboupdate and asks me to restart. I've tried this a couple of times, with the same results. I'll try another laptop, to see if it's the DVD. Anyone else have the same issue?

My JaS 10.5.4 finally finished downloading.

I'm currently running Kalyway 10.5.1 (plus 10.5.2 update and ToH 9.2.0 kernel) on a Thinkpad X41 tablet. Previously I used the paperclip trick until upgrading to the new GMA950 kexts someone posted a link to upthread. Now the paperclip trick is no longer needed. This information is provided to demonstrate that OSX does function correctly on this hardware.

Here is a log of my experience:

Today I tried a first attempt at installing JaS 10.5.4, using the boot flags -v -cpus=1. As soon as the GUI launches it gets stuck at the blue screen. The mouse pointer never appears and all hard drive activity comes to a halt. So I installed the paperclip again. Same results. I hooked up an external monitor and it will now successfully launch the GUI, but the resolution is off and I get weird overlapping and artifacts on the screen that prevent me from performing the install because parts of the picture trail off the edge of the monitor. Also, the mouse pointer does not line up with what appears to be underneath it.

Next step is to attempt setting the Graphics Mode to a known good resolution at the boot prompt. I will report back my findings.

Boot the JaS 10.5.4 DVD. Press F8 when prompted and boot with following flag: rd=diskXsY. X is the number of the disk you installed and Y number of the partition of the installed system. Leopard will start using the kexts from DVD (both mouse and keyboard will work). Then double-click on DVD icon on desktop, go to System/Packages/Patches and you will find a package named ApplePS2Controller. Install that and it should work. It worked for me.

Hello.

i've got an ASUS A6VA (Intel Centrino Processor) and i've installed the JaS OSx86 10.5.4 Client Server Intel SSE2 SSE3

I have not selected all the options available to customize the installation.

The installation process was ok but on the 1st booting of the system take a long (infunite) time to load the system with the apple in the background of the screen.

After that i cannot proceed hence the system does not load.

Is there any settings to do in order to make it working?

Thank you!

The Fast
