  1. Boot the JaS 10.5.4 DVD. Press F8 when prompted and boot with following flag: rd=diskXsY. X is the number of the disk you installed and Y number of the partition of the installed system. Leopard will start using the kexts from DVD (both mouse and keyboard will work). Then double-click on DVD icon on desktop, go to System/Packages/Patches and you will find a package named ApplePS2Controller. Install that and it should work. It worked for me.
