since to date, i am never every satisfied with an operating system. sometimes i want XP SP3, sometimes i want vista, sometimmes ubuntu and mac osx... but honestly there is not a single OS which satisfy my apetite... i guess i am very mean when it comes to OS. at the moment Vista + MAC OSX but soon xp + ubuntu will be on the board too... which OS do you like most? and Why? and what makes to stay on with only one os?

For work, Windows works well. I do visual effects for a living. For simple stuffs like making a DVD slideshow or video, there's nothing out there in the Windows world that can match Apple apps, such as iDVD. Apple really did a good job on the iLife apps and other ones like DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut.

Tiger, Leopard, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Ubuntu, FreeNAS.

Tiger - Good solid OS, worked for me well for a while until Leopard came along :)

Leopard - The worlds most advanced OS, now in UNIX flavours, love it, looks great, works great :)

Windows 2000 - Rock solid server OS and one of the most stable of Windows releases

Windows XP - Perhaps the best version of Windows released to date

Windows Vista - After Service Pack 1, its pretty good and its going to get better

Ubuntu - I tried it from version 6.06 and 7.10, overall a good OS no matter what people say. A prime reason why people switch from Windows to Linux :)

FreeNAS - Forgot to put my vote in for this one but this is a FANTASTIC solid file server OS that runs on just about anything

About the OSes that I didn't vote for. Windows 95 and 98 were just too "old" like for my liking, although like Numberzz says, they did what they did well. Windows ME because it was the worst OS MS ever made. Windows Server 2003 I have no doubt that its great, since its based on XP but I've never used it extensively so I can't exactly vote for it. The only release of Fedora I tried was one of the very first (v 1 or 2) and it was not good, but I think its improved since its now at version 7, haven't tried it though :)

i am stunned to see Vista SP1 on second place up until now. do you guys remember that there was lots of boos when vista officially launched. some people said its a rip off of mac, some said its crappy and some said it better to downgrade to windows XP... but it appears like Vitsa is finally winning the hearts and minds of people.

How touching ^_^

Leopard- Best OS I have ever used. Ever. My primary OS.

Vista- Best version of Windows to date, I use it daily for gaming and such. Primary OS until Leopard

XP- Microsoft did a superb job of merging Windows 9x and NT here. My primary OS for many, many years.

Windows 2000- When it came out, there was nothing better. ( in my opinion )

Other- OpenSUSE is my favorite Linux distro, although I hardly ever use it or any other Linux distro.

I didn't include Tiger, because although I ran it on my Hack and on my Mini, I was still just as happy with Vista. It was lacking in several areas and Leopard has greatly improved upon it.
