breakingbad
couple of suggestions... + start brand new dvd boot, use disk utility to erase the partition (no need to repartition again... just do an erase...) + install with the basic stuffs that are must have which are shown on the custom window, first... (no drivers choosen in the initial install...) + if you get gfx trouble after first reboot, then reboot again and start with -v -x should get rid of all the driver errors/trouble... + continue to 10.5.2 update guide, and choose drivers correctly in this stage... (read the guide carefully couple of times and understand the stages... it is very simple in fact it is only three stages... 1) kalyway update (no restart when done) 2) my gfx update with customization (leave the default settings on, but add drivers of your needs additiong to default settings... such as you can try new nforce ata driver, correct nvinject driver for nvidia, and all others like network, audio etc...) 3) restart and wait patiently while it is restarting once again before going to gui... and finally in 2 restarts by itself, it should go to GUI and you have 10.5.2... good luck... (note: best way to learn and get familiar with OSX, is to break it and reinstall couple more times, this will give u the best experience and understanding in the long term...) thnx mysticus. That´s exactly what I´m going to do. Re-install Leopard. I wrotte down here in a piece of paper the options for the customized install and I´ll try again later. By now I´m going to start a job here and I need to hand it to the newspaper till 2 PM today. But I´m pretty sure that everything´s going to work fine this time. breakingbad
Hi all. @Mysticus I followed the instructions you post to me here, made a new installation of OSX and I´m still having the same problem. I tried to boot using cpus=1 and it goes to the screen with the apple and the icon of loading but hangs here. When using cpus=1 -v or cpus=1 -v -x it hangs in that screen that says: "MAC Framework successfully initialized - using 16384 buffer heads and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers" Any idea of what kind of problem I´m facing now??? Just to remmeber, now I´m using SATA IDE - PS/2 mouse and keyboard (for my surprise is working perfectly), no DVD in the drive. []´s P.S. - Please, tell me where the trumpet is being played when you´re done with it. Mysticus C*
{censored} i forgot to tell you the reason why it is failing is bcoz I forgot to tell you that the patch files (acpi and apic) are also needs to be installed in addition to default settings... check the patch settings in custom window it should have one extra setting for bad bios but when you update to 10.5.2 you will again have this problem, so you will need the patch files in order to replace after the 10.5.2 update before you restart... otherwise you can be doomed again... after the install with the patch, create your account, and when you are at the desktop, open finder window, and go to /System/Library/Extensions/ folder and find AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext files... (i think they should be the names but there is only one ACPI and only one APIC named file, so not very hard to find... well nevermind, i will make an additional installer or grab the patch installer from the dvd and give you a link for it... so sit tight, and dont update after installing ok? sorry man, forgot to tell you... you can also try using the dvd after updating to 10.5.2, to replace the files.... what you will need to do is, start the dvd for install, then, uncheck everything except the bad bios patch in patches, and restart... or wait a bit i will upload an installer file in 10 mins... so your update process will be one step more, kalyway update (no restart) bad bios patch update (no restart) my gfx update package with correct settings and restart... sorry man, didnt realize it in the beginning... this is why you need your bios patched, so you wont have this stupid problem again. otherwise, after every major update, that replaces acpi and apic, you will need to apply bad bios patch (old acpi and apic files)/// clear? @all: trumpet buttons are always in post#2 dont ask again... DotComBoyUK
Thanks muitommy I will check tonight I thought I had switched my wireless to be on en0. I will also check the irc channels to see if the fix works after the network testing. All working now ironically I had changed /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist to en1 to see if I could get the Airport utility working with my Linksys wireless adapter but no joy. Hi. I have a fresh install of Leopard. Used iATKOS like before and system started fine. Is running right now. My BIOS is configured like you said in post# 1267 - only the AHCI and SpeedStep that is not available on my BIOS settings. I have the Kalyway Update, The BadBios patch and the GFX Update place in my pendrive. One doubt I have about the GFX update is about the Kernel options. Should I change any of that? The last time I just added the nvinject for my 8600 GT -512 and got that problem. How should I proceed with the GFX? Wich options should I choose? I think this is my major doubt. After doing all that, wich flag should I use to boot??? I think these are my doubts right now. Well, as far as I remember, I already got and error message, that showed 9.2.0 kernel as a problem. About this kernel thing, should I uncheck everything about kernel in the GFX update or should I leave checked the ones that´s already choosen?? That part is making a little confused. Any screenshot that I can see wich options to choose?? If it´s not asking too much, of course... you´re already being a lot patient with me.
