demonfox13x Posted March 12, 2008 Share Posted March 12, 2008 when i have my firewire dv-camera connected and all my cores enabled my usb devices stop working after awhile but everything is still running, internet, etc. im just not able to move my mouse and keyboard. When i disconnect the firewire my whole computer freezes. Everything is perfect without my camera connected with all cores enabled. any ideas on how to fix this besides cpus=1 ? Mysticus C* Posted March 12, 2008 Author Share Posted March 12, 2008 @jade: what is idle hdd? you mean ide hdd? before the first boot to hdd, you removed the dvd? also make a hardware profile in your signature first! also make your problem description clearer step by step please... @demonfox: what install dvd did you use for os x? how did you update to 10.5.2? and have u tried an extra firewire pci card and disable the onboard ones? almost everything on board on nforce chipset is like trouble for os x so i wouldnt be suprised if that caused trouble... usb disconnections are happening on different mobos... you can maybe try usbehci for leopard by orbyte... but dont know about firewire issue... i have firewire on board is recognized and seems working (but never tried anything on it yet... so I dont know how it would respond, i will try an external drive on it later to see results... other than that u can search the forums for comman problems related to extensions ports such as usb and firewire... Mysticus C* Posted March 12, 2008 Author Share Posted March 12, 2008 Some Update: ========== currently I am adding all the device ids to graphics update (probably 100+ ids I m adding right now ) that is gonna take some time... after that I will combine the kalyway update and gfx update together along with some kernel options and some couple of drivers... hopefully i dont mess up the installer... last time was ok... except missing ids... this time it will contain more than 100 ids i think... almost all the 5x 6x 7x 8x series and figured out most of the quadro series ... but cant guarantee that all of them will work... many on board cards have high chance that they may not work if they dont have dedicated memory... but i dont know yet... people will have to try and see... hopefully the nvidia gfx part will be the most complete one i think... dont know about intel gfx cards and ati cards... Without these tutorials, it would have been quite difficult, or rather impossible, for me to figure that out. I couldn't even get to the installation part of Leo as I have an nForce chipset mobo. The installation runs properly now. I can partition my drive using the disk utility and the following options are chosen: iATKOS v1.0i Main System Darwin EFI bootloader NForce NO-HPET SSE3 Kernel Remove CPUPowerManagement Remove Thermal kexts VGA - nVidia GeForce 8800 with nvInject 640Mb Everything seems to go fine. Right after the bootloader, the grey screen with the Apple in the middle appears and everything hangs there Can you please help me with getting this working right and point out where and what went wrong? I had to connect BOTH an IDE HD and IDE DVD (I pulled them out of my G4 so I didn't have to buy new ones). It wouldn't let me boot the install DVD with only one of the IDE devices. To install, I booted from the IDE DVD. I didn't have to install to the IDE HD, I only had to have one connected. I installed to my SATA drive and all works fine. After install, I shutdown and removed all the IDE devices and am running SATA only now. Mysticus C* Posted March 12, 2008 Author Share Posted March 12, 2008 here are the list of things I added (and still adding couple more) ========================================= + 10.5.2 Kalyway system update + 1.0 Leopard Gfx Update for 10.5.2 (fixed for nforce chipset) + Kernels (2 from Netkas, 2 from Kabyl) + NVinject (128mb to 768mb only--no 1 gb yet-- sorry) + Programs (kernel and kext installers) + Drivers (system.kext replacement, netkas' smbios,azalia stereo driver, ati radeon hd 2900, usb ehci by orbyte, nforce ata test driver) - 8139 is already in r3, no need for it, and there is no fix for network drops, it s caused from (flow control-flushing buffers/caches) in heavy constant usage, mostly high speed multiple connections download of huge file, or torrent type of multpiple in and out connections or multiple files download at the same time... all these causes some buffers/caches to fill up quickly and cant be flushed by either driver or kernel (some knowledge needed here) almost done with adding these stuffs, and soon will wrap up the installer and keep you updated for the where-to-get-it-from information... any wishes for last minute before i wrap it up? cheers...
