Should I install the kalway update the normal way or should I follow the steps described in post #92?

follow #525... no need for 92 anymore as I included everything in the installer so no manual file placement or fixing needed...

install kalyway update(no restart)

install my update with appropriate choices

and restart

wait, it will restart once more by itself (from original update)

now it should go to gui, if u didnt choose anytg wrong...

and report back if u want if u see anytg wrong...

I'm searching the forum to find how to clone my leo install from 80gb pata to 200gb sata drive

without any luck..

can any one tip me?

use disk utility's restore function

source : your 80gb hdd partition drag n drop

target : your 200gb hdd partition drag n drop

make sure u made the target partition ready as osx journaled...

click restore without choosing anything... (but make sure u formated the partition first)

once restore finished...

restart and place iatkos dvd

boot from the iatkos dvd!!!

choose your 200 gb hdd's partition

and go to customize window of the installer...

in the custom window, choose only!!!! the efi bootloader... nothing else!!!

it will copy bootloader and make your hdd bootable...

good luck...

i have installed leopard on my box, got the confiramtion at the end of instalation. I was required to restart my box and i did it... however it didnt boot from HD i installed OSX... i get error something like: b0 error_

What needs to be done to point it to boot from HD?

Hi all,

I was able to successfully get iAtkos v1.0i r3 to work, I have only experienced 2 issues... The only way I am able to boot successfully (without black screen) is adding the flags "system=X86PC "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32"" then it boots right into leopard, and it's interesting because when I get into leopard the resolution is full 1360x768 and beautiful just strange :/... Also, I might not even have to put the "system=X86PC" I just always have...Any ideas how I can resolve this, so I don't have to type this everytime? and the other issue is sleep, but I seemed to have successfully disabled it now (havent seen it try to sleep again...) but if possible I was wondering if there was a fix to make sleep work properly.. Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks!!

Read the posts in the topic properly you may find your answer... however, as usual you look like you are one of the lazy ones... check post #525!!!

@macciti: I started to hate people who can not read a line or so disabled to use a search button... use search button and see what comes with b0 error...

I m getting sick of people who join the forum and without reading a single line and without any search at all, start asking every question to the last page of any topic, without reading a single line from the first page esp, post #2 in my case!!!!!

Hi all!

@Zonker, thanks for the leads(about reading a few pages back) you gave me. I finally got it working :)

So, I re-installed everything using iAtkos v1.0i r3 and did everything exactly as in the opening tutorial by Mysticus. Rebooted with the -v -f options and yes! it was there :D Now everything works fine, even when booting normally, i.e., without specifying any options.

Thanks guys! Now I need to get a proper NIC and try to install 10.5.2.

Cheers!

@ mystyicus i tried the 10.5.2 update but i dont know what graphic card i should use, i tried the NV inject768MB but i juts get a black screen when i tried to log in.

also how can i get my internet running im using ethernet cable

looking at my spec what do you think i should use?

thanks in advance

Hey guys, i hate to bug you with little things like this, i know that you are into advanced stuff in here, but i need your advice and/or at least stear me into right direction...i have installed leopard on my box, got the confiramtion at the end of instalation. Hi There..

I have been trying to get the instal done over a few weeks now. No luck so far. I have done a clean install and used MBR as suggested. I have tried the iAtkos v1.0i r3 The image loads successfully and set up is done. When i try to boot -v ,-x cpus=1 , it starts to load the setup from the hard drive and when the apple logo should come on it flashes and then reboots. I have tried many ways to boot it. Also tried Kalyway and iatkos r2. I think this would be a nvidia driver issue driver. Do you think I should just get a different card or wait till video issues are sorted. I do not know if it is easy to add the drivers to the boot process as I am new to Mac. If possible is this an easy fix to add the drivers with the NVinstaller?

Regards

Many thanks to Mysticus for your help..

First, add you specs to your signature!!!!

When you are in customize window, what do you choose? any nvinject value for nvidia?

What error messages (screen cap would be more helpful) you get when you boot through -v or -v -x?(note that I said -v -x and not -v -x cpus=1)

Please give proper description of what you did and what you didnt, and add your specs to your signature, so that people dont need to go back and forth for your specs...

Hi;

I can't add a screen shot of the the boot as it happens too fast and reboots. I have tried -v, -v -x, -v -x cpus=1. They all crash the reboot. I have everything unplugged ( sata, lan, audio card RME digi 96 ).

I have tried to to the install as you have suggested and the last one was with efi only with R3 iso. When I used the Kalyway 10.5.2. I can get to install screen and pick the keyboard. When I used this and followed the prompts as I got to transfer files I would select none and it would cycle back to select keyboard again. The r3 ISO crashes on reboot after successful install. I am thinking that it is an Nvidia driver issue and am wondering if I should change my Graphics card . I have also selected the nvinject drivers on different installs.

Thx for your patience ..

hey mysticus...

I am booting from DVD into iATKOS R3. My drive is an LG PATA. Here is my -v:

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x04, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

following that is

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002D88DE): "nfs_boot_init failed with 6\n"@/volumes/disk1s2/leo_xnu/xnu-1228/bsd/nfs/nfs_vfsops.c:851

Debugger called: <panic>

and then doom...

Your post said that if you run into sam media read or write failed, and then "still waiting for root device", that the SATA Optical drive should be replaced with a PATA one. No can do because mine is already PATA. It also said if it "just says still waiting for root device", than replace with SATA HD with a PATA HD. Well, mine doesn't say waiting for root device anywhere.

Thanks ?Mysticus? at least some response :( I want you to know that i have read everything in BOLD and have added my signature as you see. Plus i have read all your explanations before asking questions. I know it becomes annoying when people don't read 'manual" and then ask questions... i want to assure you i did. I just still having hard time making it work...

?Mysticus?

I have fixed 'b0 error_' error but got another one. My BIOS stock in restarting cycle. I would assume that BIOS cant find the boot string to OSX, but i am not computer advanced so i might be wrong. If you want, you can help me in this...

Thanks

@ anyone:

So, i have successfully installed iatkos v1.0i r3, used Kalyway ComboUpdate, and netkas 9.2.0 Speedstep (did this a couple of weeks ago). Added a realtek 8139 since marvell was kind of sucky with fast transfers. Had to reinstall twice after trying the Leopard Graphics Update, once from Apple, and once with the stand alone update. Everything has been fine until a few days ago (that was my backstory). And thanks Myst for all the efforts way back when.

So, every now and again, out of nowhere, i get the screen greying over from top to bottom with the "you need to restart your machine" message with the power button background. Eh, so i reboot and usually everything is fine and dandy again. But it has finally become a pain in the butt, so I figured I would throw it out here. Upon my last reboot, I got a freeze at the blue screen. Rebooted again with -v to see what was up. Here is what I got:

IMG_4172.jpg

So I turned off my power, gave it a few seconds, booted, and am now typing this message from my os x.

Any ideas on why I get the greyed out reboot message?

Any idea what was up with the kernel panic I got?

Anyone got plans to make a graphics update for ATI x1900gt (this was just a curiousity).

Thanks guys.

first add your specs to your signature: go to control panel | on the left see edit signature | copy paste your specs there | dont forget yo click "update my signature button

immidiate restart is a sign of wrong kernel... or wrong selections overall...

where did i suggest you efi only installation?

did u read post #2 ? did u see the custom window basic selections??? you dont seem to read the guide properly at all...

read it first and than state a problem, your problem right now seems that you didnt read the guide properly, and didnt choose suggested stuffs...

@darkstormcr: panic call sounds like something wrong picked up for your pata/sata controllers most likely... can you try bios update first if u havent done so... also check your sata drives operation mode? ahci? ide? raid? bcoz many people on this topic with same mobo, have installed osx w/o problems...

one possible scenerio is that your dvd maybe damaged as well?

@chaos: error on the screen shows things going wrong with cpu? most likely related to kernel? (also OC too high?)

get latest bios, read post #525 and get sleep kernel from there, see if it helps...

@macciti: thanx for reading the tutorial... what i can suggest you is that write down everything you have done in an order, so i can follow, and also screen caps during dvd/hdd boot (with -v) so that i can see what error messages are being shown... than i can have an idea about what is going wrong... right now, i cant see any proper error reporting from you, no details regarding the errors? only after proper error report and screen caps of the error parts, i can help you better...

@ mysticus,

I updated the BIOS and still received the panic. How do I check the SATA drive operation mode? Like where in the BIOS?

so ... the Installation of iATKOS r3 runs perfectly ...

I installed my videocard (1950pro) without a problem

same audio and ata ...

now i installed the kalyway 10.5.2 update (without a reboot)

and installed your package (with 9.2 nforce patched efi kernel) ...

the installation runs without a problem and the system had been rebooted,

the grey apple screen and then the lightblue screen and then the mouse cursor on the lightblue screen...

and then - nothing ... only the lightbluescreen with the mouse cursor ... no error - nothing ...

i also can turn the cursor around ...

What´s the error?!? what can i do?!? ...

Hey guys

I have a small problem.

I installed iatkos R3 without any problems.

But I have no access to the internet, I use the onboard Lan nforce chip.

I have a nforce Geforce 8800GTS which is not identiefied.

I can only use 1024*786.

What can I do?

Install any kext or driver?

Can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance.

the problem is most likely is the atindrv and natit versions... i will try to add the natit/atindrv versions from iatkos to the new installer... i will let you know when it is added, but in the mean time, i want you to try to boot with -v -s to see if u can? also tell if qe/ci was working or not in the 10.5.1?

these kind of driver errors happens bcoz people dont request these kind of drivers in the first place while the installer is being made, and mostly people dont have knowledge of which drivers usually needs to be backed up before any major update... expects everything to be told...

@sunner07: for gods sake, please read the guide and the topics!!!!!! I hate people who dont read a line and start asking questions... read post #525 for gfx card and for lan read my signature...

ok ... you think is the ati driver? not a bad applesmbios? ...

but unfortunatelly i can´t boot with -v - s because my system runs only with the iatkos dvd inside ... (at the moment, i´m gonna fix it)

... target mode isn´t possible on a hackitosh? cause i had an "real" Mac too ..

@waldfee: dvd boot is indication of bootloader is missing... you can fix it by booting off DVD for installation.... but I think i know the one thing that will fix both of your problems...

boot from the iatkos os x dvd for installation ok?

continue to install window, and first choose your partition that you want to boot off from and in custom windows, choose only efi bootloader, and the ati driver for your gfx card ok? do not choose anything else!!!!

that will fix your dvd boot issue and the gfx problem,

than first try boot with -v only to see if you can boot to gui...

hope it helps (i guess it should but i cant guarantee) and report back...

@darkstorm: error message is indacating that HDD/DVD read/write error... is this screen from dvd installation boot? or hdd boot?
