amperex
Hello friends, after a good installation of kalyway 10.5.1 in my Pc with q6600 & gigabyte P35-ds3r I had a problems because I had a lot of stops and problems with my hardisk. I tryed a new install but the hard disk utility take a lot of time to format, and the installer stops showing 1 hour 4 minutes remaining. I tryed some things, I puted the computer en Raid mode, AHCI mode and normal(IDE) mode; into Leo I used succefully for a lot of time stationapolloICH9patch for recognition of ICH9-R. I cannot reinstall it at this moment Some ideas?? PD: I just finish install ubuntu in the same board and HD and its running very well. vaporATX
@legolas again.. i forgot to mention.. Firewire ports are very compatible with leopard.. but why in gods name would anyone ever use firewire (except for a true mac user who continually tries to convince themselves that it is better than USB 2) Try doing non sequential copies from you internal drives to a USB2 drive and you'll change your tune quick. For example: Grab a 4 gig video file and drag it to that USB2 external. Now, grab 700 MB iso and drag it there. Now another big video file. Now grab a folder full and raw images and drag that to that USB2 drive. Now you have four huge copies going on from different locations. Now watch USB2 choke. lol! USB2 is garbage... and no, I'm not a drooling mac head with a Steve Jobs poster on the wall. The only thing I use USB for is thumb drives. I use Firewire externals on all my machines be it Windows, Mac, Linux, or BSD. mtotho
@AHCI orange drive issues. The drives are not suppose to be orange.. that indicates that they are external drive and has nothing to do with ahci (are any of the real macs you see having orange drives?.. no). There is an issue with the stock AHCI kext that makes the computer think that the drive in AHCI are actualy external drive and not internal. I guess fixing this problem does not make a world of difference.. but think.. it is detecting an internet system hardrive as an EXTERNAL drive. There are some problems with it that go unnoticed, and you dont even think of the problem rooting from the External drive mode. The modified kexts come from "Brazilmacs post patch" I use these 2 kexts on all my installs. The only way you could ruin an install with these 2 kexts is if you install one and not the other. "AppleAHCIport.kext and IOAHCIFamilly.kext" It doesnt "just change the icon" it make your computer realize that the drives are internal. There is sufficient reason to switch... if you are not satisfied.. then you can put ur old kexts back on. Dragan27
Hey Everyone, I tried to follow the instructions on the previous pages about RAID 0 Setup. I'm still lost. Does anyone else have my Motherboard or something similar with RAID 0 for Windows and SATA for OS x and has successfully done a dual boot. I just can't seam to get it right! Thanks again. mtotho
Dragan.. you can easy do a dual boot with raid drives. The raid drives must be the drives getting booted off of. Use vista bootloader or xp loader on the vista drives to dual boot between. GIGANTOID
Has anyone tried or had problems with cloning your OSx86 install and being able to boot from it? I've tried reparetitioned a HD as MBR and again as GUI and tries Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper and Disk Utilities to clone the drive and none are bootable. Mercyful_Fate
The Kalyway DVD doesn't even boot for me! My hardware specs are: Mobo GB P35-DS3L Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz Graphics Gainward Bliss 8400GS 256MB H/D Western Digital 200GB SATA DVD-RW Samsung SH-S203 I made all BIOS settings as decribed in the first post, and then boot from the Kalyway dvd (which I've burned numerous times, but never got it to boot) but installation never boots. I press any key when it's asked, but it hangs there forever. I suspect something's wrong with my dvd-rw/hard disk devices, but then the BrazilMac leopard dvd boots normally and installs succesfully (although that doesn't work either for other reasons)... Can anyone give me a helping hand? p.s.: one weird thing I've noticed, concerning the hard drive, is that the installation process of BrazilMac recognizes it only as 128GB, even though I've formated it several times as Mac OS Extended... That's because you have to make them bootable. Put a copy of the efi_v8 somewhere handy. Open a terminal and cd to where you put that efi_v8 folder. sudo -s ./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsX ./boot_v8 (Enter) <---replace Xs with the disk number a partition number of your clone dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsX bs=512 count=1 (Enter) <--- " exit terminal. Now to boot it. At the boot: prompt type rd=diskXsX <---replace Xs with the disk number a partition number of your clone Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83689-how-to-install-on-gigabyteasuscompatible-boards/page/22/#findComment-640929 Share on other sites
meischder
I have a problem with Audio patch running on my P35-DS3 Mobo with Kalyway 10.5.1 installed. When I drag the HDA text file (ALC889A.txt) over to the HDA patcher (AppleHDA Patcher V1.20) after installing the 2 necessary kexts (ALCinject & AppleHDA),I get an error msg . Codec: (blank) Vendor Id:(blank) System Id:(blank) * Detected unsupported Codec. On checking the ALC889A.txt, it has Vendor Id:0x10ec0885 Subsystem:0x1458A002 However, I did get stereo sound but nothing was showing in audio under system profiler. Anyone encounter simlilar problem? Should I be concerned on audio performance degrading? Thanks Where I can find this file ( (ALC889A.txt))??? Lester56
After following this guide to reload my Hack (see my sig for specs) I found that my XBOX 360 camera no longer is recognised as a camera capture device and Front Row will no longer load. Front Row goes dark upon execution but the menu never appears. Is there a fix? Thanks for the guide! spiderman1369
@mtotho What BIOS are you using on your ASUS P5W DH board? I was reading at the Asus forums that the latest Bios (2602) has problems with speed stepping. A bunch of the people there were going back to Bios (2503). However, there is a (2504) but no one mentions that one. Thanks! Dragonshadow
I have the Ds3L... is there anyway to get front panel audio to work? And I forgot to do the factory reset bit, and went along and installed 10.5.2, sound, vidio, ahci fix, etc... what will happen if I do it now? And third, is there any way for me to get the Apple Boot Screen? The white one where you hold down control to get other boot options? Or is that not possible since PCs use BIOS? Oh, Does ANYONE know where Opera for Mac's data is stored? I'm trying to find where the profiles, mail, and all are (Application Data on windows) but no luck. Oh, how do I get bootcamp assistant to work? It keeps telling me You must update your computer's Boot ROM firmware before using this setup assistant . I assume your front ports are hooked up correctly to the MB. Go to System Preferences, Sound and change the Output to heaphone out (IIRC). And are you saying that you're trying to get Bootcamp to work on your hackintosh? Sounds interesting, but why even bother? Wouldn't that be like using a PC to simulate a Mac to simulate a PC?
