rob356
Apple has released another of their get a mac ads. this one features a "refree" I won't say more, because I don't want to ruin it, all I will say is that I think that this is one of their best. Click here to see the ad.

SDRacer48
The only reason I really find it funny is because referees often blow calls and ruin competitive games. Otherwise, it is just another poorly composed Apple commercial that takes cheap shots at Microsoft, instead of telling you about all the great things Leopard has to offer. limini
Is it just me or are all the new Get a Mac ads getting more and more unfunny over time? You mean: PC making rediculous and futile attempts at proving he's better, while mac underscores his superiority by being flustered and embarassed for PC? Is it formulaic? Yes. Is it funny? Often. Is it true? Sometimes. Is it biased? SPECTACULARLY!! I find the formula is running out of steam too.

Maxintosh
... instead of telling you about all the great things Leopard has to offer Apparently your narrow-mindedness and/or fanboyism kept you from hearing when they clearly said that "Leopard is better and faster than vista". I'd say that's a good point for them to advertise about Leopard, too bad you didn't hear it :censored2: The funniest part is that it could have just as easily been a commercial from MS about Win XP saying the same thing :censored2: :censored2:

It clearly said and I quote from you, "Leopard is better and faster than vista". That is not a selling point at all. There is no reasoning behind it, except to bash Microsoft. How about the bundled iLife, or the Dashboard, or the spectacular interface? They didn't mention any of that in that commercial. As a consumer, I want to be given a reason why it is better, instead of just told it IS!!! Maxintosh: Hey go out a spend more money on a computer with the same specs just because it is better. Sdracer48: Why should I, why is it better? Maxintosh: Because I said so, with my whopping 30 posts!!! Sdracer48: Oh ok, I will get right on that... (before you get mad, the above was the joke ) And on the second part, yes Microsoft could do the same exact thing, but they don't...

Maxintosh
It clearly said and I quote from you, "Leopard is better and faster than vista". Yes it did. Glad you're honest about it. That is not a selling point at all. Oh really? So when one product is BETTER than another, or when one product is FASTER than another, those aren't good selling points? Not surprised you're still stuck using windows ... except to bash Microsoft. Oh noes...! please don't look under the microsoft band-aid... sdracer doesn't want to admit that it's got those scabs. How about the bundled iLife, or the Dashboard, or the spectacular interface? News flash! This is not the only Mac commercial that Apple has ever made. They covered these points ad nauseam in other commercials. Plus these commercials are simply too short to give specifics like that. As a consumer, I want to be given a reason why it is better Reason #1= it is faster. If you want details on 'why' it is better then you need to be more open-minded the next time someone who owns a Mac tells you why they bought it, instead of immediately having a knee-jerk reaction to what they say and discounting thier reason(s) and thinking that they are only 'bashing' windows. No one needs to bash windows, it bashes itself IF you are honest enough with yourself and get away from the fanboyism. Here are just a few good reasons why people have switched to Macs from members of this very site: "I got my first look at...wait for it...OS X! It looked so beautiful at the time (this was OS 10.0) compared to the ugly Windows 2000 and the competition, Windows XP. And its beauty and productivity and the sheer number of things you could do with it is irresistible..." "In conclusion I find OS X to be superior for most of what I want and with leopard out now will make a great time to upgrade my old system to something that is a lot more compatable and see that monster eat vista for breafast lunch and dinner." "Got it home and started playing, havent looked back since... My hubby liked my MBP so much he went to the Apple store the following week and bought a new Mac Pro desktop... We are now a full Mac family and we are not looking back!" "I don't want a windows clone. I like the Aqua interface a lot, along with the FreeBSD driven OS." "OS X has grown on me more than I ever thought it would, now I hate using my windows box at work."

apowerr
Yea I agree with racer, you sound fanboyish max. The second quote you picked sounds fanboyish as well. I concur. @Maxintosh, you are missing what sdracer is saying. He's not saying that Leopard isn't better or faster, he's saying that the commercials should focus on why Leopard is better rather than bashing Windows. Plus these commercials are simply too short to give specifics like that. Nope, they could make 'I'm a Mac' commercials: they just have Mac in them. It could go like this: "Hello I'm a Mac. I regularly use my camera and video camera during work, recreational activities and family gatherings. With my Mac, I can easily import and organize all of my photographs with iPhoto. iMovie makes movie editing a breeze. The best part is, that thanks to .Mac I can share my pictures and videos with a few clicks." There you go.
~pcwiz
To be honest I really didn't find this commercial funny. Its like: OK lets start a competition to see what's better, Leopard and Vista Ref says "Leopard is better and faster than Vista" Like c'mon? What's up with that That wasn't even remotely funny. Apple is just stating that Leopard is better than Vista. It may be, and in my opinion it is, but I agree with sdracer48. They aren't giving any reasons why its better. Just plainly blatantly saying that Leopard is better. Sounds like what a 3 year old would say "my toy car is better than yours :P". And I'm not talking about these commercials in general, because most were pretty good. I'm talking about this specific commercial.

Maxintosh
Look in the mirror, you will find your fanboy... Oh please, get a clue I'm really tired of seeing people like you throw out the word 'fanboy' everytime someone makes a point that supports a product that you don't like. Fact: Apple does good things and bad things. Fact: MS does good things and bad things. I can tell you things about Apple that are bad that most people don't know about (until it's too late). I can do the same for MS. So please, try to stick to the point here sdracer48, that your original statement about the commercial not "giving any reasons to buy a Mac" was dead wrong. They did. Infact they gave two reasons, and neither one was "bashing" microsoft in any way! I'd say that's pretty good considering the advertising agency only had 30 SECONDS to do so. Here's a prediction, if they come out with another ad and someone posts about it - I'll bet you'll find some way to say that that they were "bashing' windows again That's what people like you do. That means your whole decision making process is polarized pro-microsoft, and THAT makes you a stepford mouthpiece for microsoft. Deal with it and move on - PLEASE. @erei - I understand your point, but you're clearly missing mine. You have a stop watch that is set to 30 seconds. Now in that 30 seconds you have to take a person in the audience that just saw a pizza or soap commercial, and get them interested in a totally different product, in this case a Mac computer. Because you only have 30 seconds to convey this message you can NOT convey details. Advertising agencies know this, which is the whole reason why they use a persons emotions as a tool. They know they can't set a bonfire in that 30 seconds, but that they can at least spark interest in their product, and that's what the 'Mac' commercials do. Almost all classic commercials involve humor in some way because it's such an effective tool. Look at famous ad for a car company. Now if sdracer48 drives a chevy then he will just say that the commercial is 'bashing' chevy, when clearly it isn't, just like the Mac commercials don't bash microsoft. They simply make you laugh at all of the pitfalls about using windows that everyone here in this forum are well aware of, and that's not bashing windows (unless you write microsoft code) it's just making light of windows shortcomings. In other words they are using humor as a tool to sell their product. Imagine that. The question isn't do you or I find it funny (because that's subjective) - the question is does the commercial use humor in a way that makes you want to talk about it more, and clearly it does. Even sdracer48 couldn't resist talking about it When you get people to talk about your product further, that makes it a good (effective) commercial. Synaesthesia
...whatever, I'm not getting into this pointless argument. We like macs, OK? my : What, what, what??? I find the formula is running out of steam too.I totally agree! These ads would NOT make me switch. They are OK, but why doesn't Apple should make ads that show off OS X's interface + functionality?? How about a tv/movie ad which showcases any one of these features (or all of them)- Time Machine - Expose + Spaces - the dock and 'genie' effect for minimising windows - iLife, iWork, MS Office, Final Cut etc. etc. (eg. someone dragging photos out of iPhoto) - Dashboard, clipping websites from Safari The OS X desktop and environment are so attractive and cool, they would be ideal for a TV ad, or before a movie. You could watch the ad and think, hey, that's cool, I wish my PC could do that. Or, hey, I could actually use that.

SDRacer48
Did you guys see the new Mac ad that talks about Time Machine? Now that new one is what I want to see. It has three key things that I like in a Product vs. Product commercial. A) It focuses on the product that is actually made by the company who made the commercial. (i.e. Apple focusing on their personal computer - the Mac) 2) It does not aim childlike and sometimes opinionated criticism at a competitor who is mainly defenseless in the commercial / argument because it is not their commercial. -) It is funny, to the point, and actually gives me information that I could use in making a decision to look into Macs and possibly buy one. That was a very good Get a Mac Ad. Note: I was never really good at indexing - George Carlin
