I was looking online, but I couldn't find anyone who was using the legitimate copy of Mac OS X to make the installation on EFI system. I have a legal copy of Mac os 10.4.5 to work with Intel, and no one has posted anything about how to install it with 10.4.5. Can anyone help me with this? I thought it should be as simple as inserting the DVD, but it wasn't that simple. I have checked the hardware from the HCL, and it seems to meet the spec. Thanks.

10.4.5 doesn't exist yet. We're working on getting 10.4.4 to work on normal machines, but it's currently a work in progress.

OS X 10.4.5 is the latest version that supports Intel. I guess it's not out on the market yet. It's the latest build for Tiger, not the developer copy that is floating around the internet. The current 10.4.4 for Intel is 8G1171 or 8G1174, but I have later version, so that's why I was asking. Thanks.

Moderation time out.

Do you really have a copy of 10.4.5? And for Intel? Legally? If so, we'd be excited to hear about it and I'm sure lots of folks would want to help you get it up and running. Please come back with some details. If you made a mistake we'll understand too. But let's not get into a slanging match. Thanks.

Request to the moderator, please kill this thread. Many a noob is going to come across this and get confused. Lets review our OS X for Intel revisions shall we.

10.4.1 - First version (leaked) of Intel OS X

10.4.2 - Possibly a limited developers release, never really made the rounds.

10.4.3 (8F1099) - Most common version of 10.4.3. I believe this is the one most non-SSE3 users had the best chances of success with.

10.4.3 (8F1111G) - A lot of people mistakenly qoute the build number as 8F1111A, This is the latest version for Intel that the scene has been able to get working. Also the version I am currently running, and it runs great!

10.4.4 - This is the gold release of OS X for Intel. Currently the only place you can see it is on a new iMac or MacBook Pro.

10.4.5 - This will be the next service release of 10.4. Considering 10.4.4 for both PPC and Intel was released only a few weeks ago, I would say we are at least several months from this. If you come across a version floating around, I wouldn't touch it as even if it is legit, it is going to be a VERY early version.

10.5 - Also known as Leopard. This will be the next VERSION of the OS X operating system. I do not know the release date off the top of my head, but I have not heard about this being released any sooner then the end of 2006, more likely at MacWorld in '07.

I hope that clears up any confusion, and please if I have made an errors do not hesitate to correct me.

This guy is either:

A. Lying,

B. Stupid,

C. A registered Apple Developer who happens to have a copy that no-one else has but is blabbing about it (see "B" above)

or

D. An Apple employee who has stolen an internal copy (see "B" above).

Stryder seems to have issue with what I have said. Maybe I have the version wrong, and made a mistake. From the source that I have received it from, they have told me it was version 10.4.5.

I don't know what kind of idiot Stryder is, but you cannot steal software from Apple, if you work for the company. If you are part of engineering team, you get a copy of latest compile of the OS, therefore, for someone who doesn't even work for the company to make such comment on how they stole the software seems ridiculous. Maybe if you work at the retail store, I guess you can steal the software. Maybe only people Stryder knows must work at the apple retail store.

Maybe I'm just stepping into the deep end of this whole thing, but has anyone seen this yet?

Interesting front page news reported by mashugly...

Especially interesting in light of tsunami316's post. Perhaps he has something... Then again, is it an install disc or merely the ~15MB update package? Call me crazy but many of you are awfully hasty with your comments for a forum which is almost always based on rumor, heresay, speculation, and leaked information. Patience, kind sirs and madams.

If you are on an engineering team, you would not be permitted to talk about your "copy" that you have in your possession.

I was going to say something similar. Give the guy a break, it's clear he has not tried it, and he does not know what version he has. He relies on the person who gave it to him. If it's not 10.4.5, it's an honest mistake. If it is, all those of you who bashed him will be the first to lick his a$$ to get a copy!

Let's wait and see. But if I did have 10.4.5, after the warm welcome he got here, I would keep it for myself!!!

I'm not going to kill the topic just yet - give the guy a chance - he's said he might have made a mistake and that's good enough for me. Plus we know 10.4.5 has to exist somewhere but it's not public -yet. I'm changing the title slightly to make it less confusing to newcomers. But if I have to delete more abusive comments I will close the thread and drop it in Junk. Believe me, I do cut out garbage without mercy and if your offending post disappears, don't come crying. So there!

Apple Store employees do not have access to engineering builds.
