  1. actually, having read your post again.. it seems that yours was is NOT a permanent issue.. mine was.. anyway.. hope that helps lol
  2. did you have any other displays connected ? Try my solution here : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=49128
  3. I've had the exact same issue.. (C2D Macbook Pro) This might not work.. (or i might be your saviour ), Have you been trying to connect an external display lately? I connected up a 40" 1080p display on vga .. it was all fine until i booted vista.. and closed the lid while it was booting.. Then when i opened it up.. the screen was screwed.. Spent hours trying to fix.. Anyway.. heres how i fixed it.. Make sure you have an external monitor connected. (DVI preferred i guess). Now with the lid barely open.. switch the macbook on.. and immidietly close the lid. This will make your external monitor your default monitor (and force a detection). Let it boot into OSX.. once thats done.. open the lid (which should result in a disabled built in monitor). Go to display preferences and detect displays. Mine detected it fine and all was fixed I guess the prob was that the built in display "inherited" the external display's settings when i closed the lid while booting Let me know how it goes
  4. Callisto Technical Discussion

Looks good! ATI Radeon 9800 Pro: Chipset Model: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Type: Display Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4e48 Revision ID: 0x0000 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported BUT! some issues... - DVI doesnt work above 1280x1024.. - only managed to get native (1920x1200) when on VGA connection. - having 2 monitors connected.. driver only queries one on VGA connection - mouse tearing present with QE (i know GA issues and not Callisto) TEARING IS ALOT LESS THO! (might be cause of the high res?) no idea Running OPENGL screensaver (again under VGA), i notice several erm.. artifacts? tears.. basically lines of colour popping.. then again this might be due to the RadeonGA and not to callisto.. just pointint it out same "lines" appear when watching video.. but only at 1920x1200.. might be my system.. ram getting too got or something.. someone else with a 1920 res should try. good work omni
  5. quite amazed that noone responded.. surely someone managed to screw his 10.4.5 installation somehow and was able to find the error without resintalling. any takers?
  6. Hey guys.. i've been trying for ages to restore my 10.4.5 installation!.. Like an idiot i tried installing Logitech Control Center 1.62 without checking if its a unibin or not.. Installation went fine and everything.. but when i rebooted it sticks at LoginWindow and nothing else happens.. (osx boots in the background). LCC had an uninstall option, so i booted up with -x.. ran it.. rebooted and same {censored}!. I cant boot in normal mode now and its doing my head in! I checked to see if there are any kexts that prevent the the system from booting but nothing.. even tried replacing the LoginWindow again.. (cause it seems like the same prob when you just update the security updates). Any pointers would be appreciated. any way to get a detailed view of whats going on when booting.. and see why loginwindow doesnt popup? (funilly enough mouse pops up and everything).
  7. Bluetooth Fix

    glad to see it worked
  8. Bluetooth Fix

I dont have a mac to test, but you can ADD the mac device id which is USB\Vid_05ac&Pid_8205 . according to : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841803 its not listed so u need to add it. try editing \WINDOWS\inf\bth.inf and add the line anywhere i suppose (i would add it under Cambridge.NT.5.1) Apple Bluetooth Radio= BthUsb, USB\Vid_05ac&Pid_8205 Save and update driver in System. Let me know if it works so i can update the first post
  9. The Great Driver Hunt

    Bluetooth fixed! http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12293
  10. Bluetooth Fix

in testing now.. the utility does not change any firmware just a trigger. if testing fails the post will be deleted.. as for piracy.. the link is a driver found on manufacturer's websites but with some checks removed (anycom)
  11. Bluetooth Fix

TESTED AND WORKS (getting Bluetooth on mac in windows XP) I believe the reason for the bluetooth not working is because the Bluetooth device is in HID mode.. You have 2 options.. Use the SP2 bluetooth stack, or use the Widcomm stack which has all the profiles With MS Stack to edit the file \WINDOWS\inf\bth.inf and add : Apple=Apple, NT.5.1 in [Manufacturer] and [Apple.NT.5.1] Apple Bluetooth Radio= BthUsb, USB\Vid_05ac&Pid_8205 under device section-start OR with widcomm u need to add the apple bluetooth in the device id list of the widcomm stack driver to get it to work. Either way.. download the attachment.. rename it (remove rename.txt) so its a plain exe file.. The program switches the HID mode to HCI. To run open CMD and run hid2hci.exe 05ac 1000 05ac is the apple device id. This will switch the mode and windows will detect the bluetooth. This is NOT permanent and needs to be done on startup. So a good idea will be to place a shortcut in startup with that command Windows will install a generic driver and use its stack, but if you want widcomm you need to do several other steps. For widcomm, you need to download the latest stack.. bottom link is an ANYCOM driver. (with licence check removed). U'll need to install it and during the install it will complain no bluetooth found bla bla.. just install without it. it will ask for a restart.. do it . After you restart, run the hid2hci (if not already in your startup). Edit the file btwusb.inf in the install dir of the stack .. in program files under widcomm or anycom \bin\btwusb.inf.. After line 151 (under [WIDCOMM.NTx86.5.1] .. add %APPLE.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_05AC&PID_8205 Now in your System properties, under Bluetooth devices. if you already have a generic bluetooth device.. change the driver and point it to that above dir (where you edited the file). The RED BT icon should turn white and everything should work.. (Some say APPLE BT keybaord and mouse might not work but havent tested yet). http://www.filefactory.com/get/v3/f2.php?f...af8519e52a1a964 p.s also thanks for jason for testing hid2hci.exe.rename.txt
  12. 10.4.4 install success

In order to get your "Install Error... try again" problem fixed, Instead of copying Packages in your desktop do what Maxxuss writes in bold letters.. copy it into a TOP-LEVEL of a partition (it can be your current 10.4.3 partition) as long as its TOP-LEVEL Then run your stuff and it should work Jim
  13. Are patched dvd iso's available?

either your dvd media is {censored}.. (burn at a lower speed or use better media). or if you have a different dvd reader.. use that
  14. Install's to 90%

enable the logger and set it to output all messages (enable from the top menu of the installation). Also i had similar issues when installing failed at the same stages everytime.. ended up being the bloody IDE CABLE! go figure
  15. Installation with Mac os X 10.4.5
