  1. Office 2004 Setup Assistant Hanging

Stupid question I know - but I assume 08 opens 2003/2004 files fine right? Does it open docx as well? I really only use Office to view files that people send me, everything I write is in Pages or Numbers.
  2. Office 2004 Setup Assistant Hanging

    Tried restarting, still doesn't work.
  3. Anyone experienced issues installing Office 2004 on Leopard? When it gets up to the User Information section is just hangs. Can't even get focus on the window again. This has made it impossible to use Office 2004
  4. Software Update

    Yeah 9A581
  5. Software Update

I'm getting the same error, and mine is the retail kit which was delivered this morning.
  6. Has Apple updated the Dock since 9A559?

July 17th is when Apple released iCal.
  7. Who has pre-order Leopard?

    Ordered last night.
  8. "Packed with more than 300 new features, Mac OS X Leopard goes on sale Friday, October 26, at 6:00 p.m. at Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers, Apple announced today. And, beginning today, customers can place pre-orders on Apple’s online store. “Leopard, the sixth major release of Mac OS X, is the best upgrade we’ve ever released,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “And everyone gets the ‘Ultimate’ version, packed with all the new innovative features, for just $129.” [Oct 16, 2007]" http://www.apple.com/macosx/?sr=hotnews Yay.
  9. Will MAC OS 10.5 Work on this Laptop

I agree, get a mac. The only reason you wouldn't have gotten a mac previously was if you had to use windows for whatever reason, now with the Intel macs its non-issue. Just get a mac, have the benefits of a fully supported, working environment, and use windows if you need to. Hell if you end up hating OS X (as is the argument that you don't want to buy a mac because you might end up hating it), just get rid of OS X entirely and run it as a pure Windows box. Too easy.
  10. I'm annoyed that there isn't a wireless keyboard offering that has the same form factor as the wired keyboard, just wireless. The idea that a wireless keyboard must be for a portable machine and thus not need a num pad and must include a function key is misguided. I want the same full sized keyboard, just without a cable.
  11. Parallels in leopard

The updates would match my experiences - I just never put two and two together. I've gone back to Tiger for now - as soon as Leopard hits the shelves I'll pick up a copy though.
  12. Time Machine Setups

I'm backing up to my Windows Server 2k3 box via ethernet. Just connect to a network share, then in Time Machine preferences select the mounted share as the backup volume.
  13. No need to burn 9A466 at all

    You should remove that screenshot...
  14. Parallels in leopard

I've switched to Fusion, however I don't like the way they've implemented Unity, but I can live.
  15. Parallels in leopard

Weird. I just reinstalled Leopard on my MBP (it was installed on an external disk before). I installed Parallels, and the first time I launched it it worked fine. From thereon, any time I launch it, it bounces twice and then crashes. More updates: It appears to be an intermittent problem. I can now launch Parallels most of the time, however trying to start a virtual machine (either one brought over from my Tiger installation, or a new one created just then) results in the error: "Unable to communicate with hypervisor! Hopefully a restart will fix this - running a time machine backup at the moment.
