  2. Discontinued

Thanks dude! Got mine running as well (Asus P5N e-SLI) on Leopard 10.5.2 (iAtkos ir3 + Kalyway 10.5.2 update + GFX Update). Installed your kext with Kext Helper (smooooth install) - of course did the 30 sec unplug as well So far all works great -- will report when freezes/crashes occure. EDIT: OK ... as reported by others .... I got too happy too fast ... works great with Internet - crashes when moving larger files over the network No I do not wish to use the cpu=1 feature ... I have a quad core CPU and would like to use it to it's full potential.
  3. ASUS P5N-E SLI

Thanks toloot Got iAtkos ir3 (ir2+PPF patch+10.5.2 Kalyway update+GFX Update) running now - video (ATIx1800GTO - it shows as a x1900 in the system profiler) runs fine with 2 screens, running all from SATA, using all 4 cores of my CPU - no crashes or ther monkey business (yet) ... Oh yes, I had to revert to a PATA DVDRom player to even be able to install anything. Last challenge; get the network to work!
  4. 5. ASUS P5N-E SLI

I'm trying Kalyway 10.5.1 right now; and get random crashes during setup (problem - need to restart - press power button - etc). Tried "vanilla" kernel - that's even worse ... Have been playing with the BIOS settings the past few hours, no results yet Board: Asus P5N-e Sli HDD: 500Gb SATA DVDRom: SATA / Plextor Memory: 2Gb Video: ATI x1800 Any suggestions?

  7. Starting Programming

I'm right now in the process of looking around for "ideal" development "tools". I see remarks left and right that XCode is supposed to support "cross-platform"; I'm just wondering how difficult that really is? Anyone? Do I need to completely redo the GUI for each platform? I've also taken a look at RealBASIC, simple, but might be worth something as it allows creating binaries for Windows, Mac, and Linux by clicking the right button -- easy you'd say, but what are the consequences? how efficient is it? how compatible? what does the future look like?
  8. Best tool to make a harddisk image?

@tususer33; how do I set unused sectors on a used partition to zero? Acronis indeed copies the entire partition - kind-a big for a backup. Would disk-utility be able to restore the entire disk, including mbr? Like I said; I have a nice setup, OS X / Vista, with dual boot ... and would like to be able to restore that in the future ...
  9. Starting Programming

I'd recommend a language like Object Pascal (Lazarus/FPC), definitely easier than Java or C++. Only downside to object-pascal; Lazarus/FPC requires X11 ... and does not (yet) generate OSX apps but X11 apps. They're currently trying to make it all native Mac OSX, if that get's done; then porting apps amongst MacOSX, Linux, Windows should be very easy. Lazarus/FreePascal: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/ (open source)
  10. Lazarus

Isn't lazarus already pre-compiled available? Only bummer: you need to run it in X11 I'd love to get a Delphi like IDE running in native OSX ... so I'm patiently waiting for them to work on Cocoa, GTK2, etc ...
  11. Best tool to make a harddisk image?

Thanks guys! I tried Acronis Trueimage Home 10.0, and it made a full backup of my HDD (MBR, partitions, the works) and yes it didn't compress the MacOSX partition (identifies it as a ShagOS swap disk?). So I'm having a 40 something Gb backup file sitting on a USB disk. I'll try disk utility, but can it completely backup my entire hdd? or just per partition?
  12. Best tool to make a harddisk image?

I see people posting these solutions: 1) Acronis TrueImage Anyone got this to work? 2) SuperDuper Will this make a full image (ie. MBR + all partitions)
  13. How to backup my osx installation?

What version/edition of TrueImage did you use? I'm trying to make a backup of my entire disk (MBR, partitions, etc), since I have an nice Vista/MacOSX dualboot setup ... For the SuperDuper users; can SuperDuper do this as well?
  14. Best tool to make a harddisk image?

Is there nobody out there that made an image of their hard disk after a successful setup?
  15. (Almost) Hidden Secrets of OS X

Some of us know KVM’s. A little box attached to multiple computers so you can share keyboard, mouse, and screen with all those computers. Nice and it works. If you want to use your keyboard and mouse for multiple computers, each having their own monitor, then Synergy2 might come in handy. I use my maindesktop which has Vista and Mac OS X running, a laptop with Mac OS X (Macbook Pro), a Windows 2000 server, and a Linux box. And with all of them I can share my one and only keyboard and mouse and it works great. The missing link for the Mac is the GUI, and that’s where you’d like to install SynergyKM. This is all you need for a Mac client or server. Works great! It’s free: http://software.landryhetu.com/synergy/
