stationapollo
My patch allow you to see the ports after the two first in IDE mode. It's an installer: no terminal. YoYelloW
Question: I have a GA-P35-DS3P with P35+ICH9R as chipset, it works very well for a great load of people, but for some reason i cant get it to boot frm any DVD, nor from sata disk (dvd drive sata as well), i've tried every BIOS setting there is, and still its either waiting for root device, or simple hangs at the same point where it should say waiting for root device. Any idea whats wrong? ive heard more people had teh same problems with this board, could it be a bad chiprevision or something malfunctioning? IrishBiker
Hi Guys Sorry to be a pain but I've been trying to get me board to work with 10.5 for more than a week now, can anyone please review and comment? I suppose first off here is my specs MSI P35 Neo-FR board 2 gig DD2 667 Memory 160 sata drive SH-S203b sata DVD XFX Geforce 7600GT I have tried both TOH 10.5 RC2 and Brazilians version. Both give me the same error. At first I thought it was my 8600GT card so I got the plastic out and bought a XFX which I've read works right out of the box but it still gives me the following error: boots right up to the following message MAC Framework successfully initalized using 10485 bugger headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers and that's it nothing more. Nothing else jumps out at me, i.e. there's no kernel panics or anything to point me in the right direction? I've tried various sata/Pata drives along with different DVD roms including usb, all give the same result. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks a lot I. YoYelloW
You have used the '-x -v' boot flags? really, i have tried everything that i knew, after that i asked on irc and tried everything that people told me there, still nothing. Different packages, DVDs, PC_efi still with the same result. IrishBiker
Just seen someone else's boot log and mine has the following line: Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatoform" has immediate dependecies on both com.applekernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style Now I've tried various ACPI settings but nothing seems to be making a difference. rhalls
Hey TonyKL, which exact versions of OSX did you use? Which ways of booting did you try (P-ATA and S-ATA or only S-AtA DVD?)? Just list them up and ill try here (if i have them) if they boot here. Maybe that will get a y bit further... Did you only try Leopard for booting? havent tried that. Dont know why i should try Leopard while its still buggy (even on regular macs). TonyKL
Did you only try Leopard for booting? I only used Leopard - and as this is the Leopard area I assume everyone is talking Leopard here? Hey TonyKL, which exact versions of OSX did you use? Which ways of booting did you try (P-ATA and S-ATA or only S-AtA DVD?)? Ok, I dont have PC_EFI setup yet - this it my task when I have time. I have used 10.5.0 on both ToH Leopard and a DVD I made myself from original Leopard and the BrazilMac patch. Using SATA hard-drives in ports 1&2 (intel/yellow - set to AHCI in bios) and an Asus SATA DVD drive on port 3 (intel/yellow) Both DVD's happily booted using -x -v at the boot prompt - nothing special, nothing clever. I do know that you need to either disable or set to AHCI your drive controllers (both intel/yellow and gigabyte/purple) otherwise it wont boot. stationapollo
yes it works because you have ICH9. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: -Download and install my installer -Reboot -Enter to the bios and put the sata mode in IDE -Start leopard/tiger Now you should see the latest sata ports. ps. IDE mode permits to windows xp booting without problems. if you want to use windows xp in AHCI mode, you have to use a floppy disk while install with the southbridge driver. Brywalker
Ok, this makes sense for ICH9, but my ICH9R has all ports available right from the start. However, they show as Generic AHCI (null). Is there any way to get OS X to recognize these as the correct chipset WITHOUT having to set IDE? aurkitu
I have the same searching that Brywalker. My leopard use generic 1.20 for sata. Detects alls. But like generic controller. Motives for not change to IDE: SATA II (NCQ + hot plug), and is correctly installed in my others systems...between others issues. Then this patch isn,´t a solution for us? Thanks! mdg
Exactly! NCQ is PARAMOUNT here. Also, there are different device IDs with different boards. I have a P5K and this patch does nothing for my board...I have 4 SATA (but can only see 2 in AHCI mode). After running the patch and putting into IDE, I still see 2 only...and switching back to AHCI I still have 2...Honestly, I don't think this patch did anything to my PC. stationapollo
The kext for AHCI mode in only a modding of the AppleAHCIFamily.kext: with this you should see the latest sata ports. Do you want more speed with using a kext specifically made up for ICH9?
