stationapollo
Official P35 + ICH9/R Motherboard Thread INSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS: If you are installing Leopard ToH’s DVD you won’t have problems with sata. You only have to replace the original kexts with the mine. If you are installing Tiger you have to use a USB DVD reader or writer OR a SATA one. You have to put the SATA controller in AHCI mode and, after the installation, put it into IDE mode after replace the original kexts with mine modified. NOTE: you have to use USB or SATA DVD reader or writer because, from the ICH8, Intel doesn't include in her chipset solutions a PATA controller. A workaround is to use a third-party PATA controller: Jmicron JMB363. This controller is the cause of the problems. I’ve made a patch for ICH9 and ICH9R to allow you to use the latest sata ports in IDE mode. It's an installer. Run it and reboot. dnjmarlboro
Thanks, instead of installing in AHCI Mode - why not patching the DVD directly with ICH9/ICH9R kext files? stationapollo
you have to patch the DVD only for tiger...you can make this "workaround"...edit the image of a distro and install it. nagal
I tried the installer tonight and it totally killed my Leopard install. I was getting debug trace stack messages (or something to that effect) from the kernel as soon as it started to boot. stationapollo
Other users don't have this problem...did you put the disks in AHCI or IDE? You have to put the sata in IDE, because after installing my patch AHCI mode will cause a kernel panic. ? VenimK
INSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS:If you are installing Leopard ToH's DVD you won't have problems with sata. You only have to replace the original kexts with the mine. I zill try this 2night. Ijust installed TOH rc2 dvd. and it works when i set my HDD as SATA IDE now when i set them has SATA AHCI, it would not boot up, get this blinking stripe then So this installer patch would fix this ???? TonyKL
Surely the problem is that we are missing RAID not IDE? My SATA and IDE drives work fine with AHCI from a BrazilMac patched GM. stationapollo
My patch enables the sata ports after the first two. ? Then: RAID can't be applied to an hackintosh, because it's possible only on the mac pro. You can't have an array on a iMac or mbp, is this true? Edited the first post. TonyKL
My patch enables the sata ports after the first two. ? I can see how that would be useful if you have that problem. I must be lucky, I can use all 8 of my SATA ports with the BrazilMac patched Leopard - 6 Intel and 2 Gigabyte. stationapollo
tony i'm replacing my p5b with a p35c-ds3r: the same. I can say one thing: if you use the brazilmac dvd you don't see the last ports. EDIT: @alain2008 you can install leopard or tiger: look at the first post and use my patch to see the latest ports. richtig
Will this patch allow my ICH9 [non-raid] Biostar P35D2-A7 board to boot? The only installer distro that will get as far as Leopard installing is "ToH RC2"; but then fails when trying to boot from the hard drive. There is no AHCI mode selectable in bios. Is AHCI mode only present in "raid capable" SATA controllers? stationapollo
This is a post-install patch. My patch works with all P35/X38 Motherboards. Because X38 motherboard se, as southbridge, ICH9R. richtig
OK. Could you maybe write up a "how to" for installing your ICH9 patch, via Terminal? In other words: I'm able to install Leopard from the ToH DVD, then re-boot from the ToH DVD and launch Terminal, to install your ICH9 patch. Thanks in advance. Brywalker
I must be missing something. Why would you want to run them in IDE over AHCI? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74918-official-p35-ich9-ich9r/#findComment-530552 Share on other sites
TonyKL
tony i'm replacing my p5b with a p35c-ds3r: the same. I can say one thing: if you use the brazilmac dvd you don't see the last ports. To be fair, I have not tried plugging in anything into the last 2 (5&6) yellow (Intel) sata ports. I've used the first 4 yellow (intel) and the only 2 purple (gigabyte) and the ide and they all work happily.
