just wondering. what is gonna be the ease level of rev. 2? would i be able to give a disc to my parents and tell them to put it in and boot and install? will all the kexts be fixed already and put in already? sound? wireless internet/internet alone?

What do we have to look forward to?

Zeph and i are working on it. there are still a couple things that need to be done before it will be released. so nothing new actually. just relax and enjoy Rev1.

Just finished downloading rev.1 and succesfully installed on following H/W:

CPU: Athlon64 X2 4200+

MB: ASUS M2A-VM HDMI (2Gb RAM installed), based on AMD690G chipset (ATI X1250 on-board graphic not tested)

SouthBridge: AMD SB600 (UDMA enabled with A real SB600 .kext/patch, please?)

Video: Discrete ATI Radeon HD2600 XT 512Mb DDR3 (no DVI, but working QE/CI with Radeon_HD package)

Monitor: SyncMaster 215TW (1680*1050 native res)

IDE HDD: WesternDigital WD800JB (80Gb)

SATA HDD's: Maxtor STM3160815AS (160Gb), Samsung HD501LJ (500Gb) (can't see them yet)

Network: Onboard Realtek 8111 (fully working with R1000 driver)

Sound: Onboard Realtek HDA883 (stereo ok with azalia)

Keyboard&Mice: Logitech Internet 1500 wireless Laser Cordless Desktop (USB)

Have to install from IDE DVD drive. SATA DVD gives 'still waiting for root device'.

After installation I have to boot with -x, then install respective drivers - and now I'm up&running!

I replaced the AppleNForce.kext on the REV1 CD with the one from medevil. I am able to boot the cd but just behind the dnsResponder the cd is rebooting and rebooting. Do i missed something ? I did only a replacement of the kext, because of my nforce5 sata drive. I replaced the kext in the directory /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns.

HW:

CPU 2x AMD 2218 Dual Core Opteron

Chipset: nforce5 MCP55

Motherboard: Sun Ultra40 M2

RAM: 16 GB

Graphic: Nvidia Quadro FX 5500

Finally I managed the installation and I'm happy now, sort of. There is still a problem with my Laptop screen resolution. It is set to 1024x768 and I can't change it. I already installed NVInjectGo 0.2 but no change.

System profiler shows me the following:

Graphics by NVIDIA:

 Chipset Model:	Graphics by NVIDIA
 Type:	Display
 Bus:	PCI
 VRAM (Total):	256 MB
 Vendor:	NVIDIA (0x10de)
 Device ID:	0x0244
 Revision ID:	0x00a2
 ROM Revision:	NVinjectGo 0.2.0
 Displays:
Display:
 Resolution:	1024 x 768
 Depth:	32-bit Color
 Core Image:	Software
 Main Display:	Yes
 Mirror:	Off
 Online:	Yes
 Quartz Extreme:	Not Supported
Display Connector:

Any idea how I can change my resolution to 1280x800.

Thanks,

komeet

Carpet, my ethernet card is enable.

I've try with "disable", same result.

I had the same problem: just have to remove the kexts and replace them with those that your spec need. Good luck!

I replaced the AppleNForce.kext on the REV1 CD with the one from medevil. I am able to boot the cd but just behind the dnsResponder the cd is rebooting and rebooting.

out of curiosity, how did you modify and create the new dvd?

I'm just asking because I also tried to change a driver on the installation dvd but I am somehow unable to boot from the newly created dvd...

Zephyroth if not already asked, could you maby add the latest AppleNForceATA.kext (31-12-2007) to Rev2?

This will help to make MCP61 and other's working, so we can install to our SATA harddrives too :(

Maybe you need the proper Kext for Nforce4 Ultra? Thats what your board has apparently. http://de.shuttle.com/fr/desktopdefault.as...169_read-10611/

Did you select a supportive kext during installation? I can't remember if Zephyroth's had the proper kext in the DVD. Rev2 of Zepyroth's DVD might add support. Try looking through these threads for an answer?:http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...2BNforce4+Ultra

I wish i could help you more.

For Tiger:

1. hdiutil attach /"Your ISO File" -readwrite

2. mkdir ~/inject

3. mkextunpack -d ~/inject /Volumes/YourMountedISO/System/Library/Extensions.mkext

4. rm -rf ~/inject/AppleNForceATA.kext

5. cp -rp /path/to/new/AppleNForceATA.kext ~/inject

6. chown -R root:wheel ~/inject

7. chmod -R 755 ~/inject

8. kextcache -m ~/Extensions.mkext ~/inject

9. rm -rf /Volumes/YourMountedISO/System/Library/Extensions.mkext

10. cp -rp ~/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/YourMountedISO/System/Library

Eject and boot

For Leo:

1. hdiutil attach /"Your ISO File" -readwrite

2. rm -rf /"Your ISO File"/System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleNForceATA.kext

3. cp -rp /path/to/new/AppleNForceATA.kext /"Your ISO File"/System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns

4. chown -R root:wheel /"Your ISO File"/System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleNForceATA.kext

5. chmod -R 755 /"Your ISO File"/System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleNForceATA.kext

Eject and boot

I want't to install "leopard amd R1" too!

I will install in vmware on raw partition like i installed the tiger version and change later the S-ATA driver.

But after the DVD is booting i get the leopard picture and than i think the system is hanging.

I see the rotating appple mouse an nothing hapends!

Has anyone a sollution for the problem?

Sorry for my very bad english!
