true duel
ok so this is what i did. i made a raw partition in vista. and in the disk utility i formatted it to mac os extended (journaled) and yes it was selected MBR. then i decided to try erasing the whole hard drive and creating the HFS+ drive Journaled and selected MBR as well. and nothing. still same old thing as my last post. I think it sounds like a SATA controller issue. Might want to wait for rev2 since we're testing along alot of different hardware bases. Edit: Oh wait, i thought you had a differnt problem. locus
Can someone please tell me where to put a ktext file in the DVD so it loads at boot? I am trying to add the USB fix but I don't know where to put it. I'm wondering the same. I't looks like my chipset (VIA K8T800 Pro on a Asus A8V Deluxe) is not detected which means my hard drives are not recognized. Is there a simple way to add custom kernel extensions at boot time? cheers. You not only need to format your drive for MBR but once the install is done you need to boot back up on the dvd and drop to a terminal and make your drive bootable. All this can be found in the installation instructions on page 9 of this thread. At this time there is no working EFI patches for AMD and there probably won't be any for a long time if ever. Not true. I am currently using the EFI patches and I am running my Leopard on a GUID partion, not an MBR partition Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/61/#findComment-566907 Share on other sites

JCman
I can install Leopard without any issues but once restarting it won't boot into Leopard. It basically hangs at a blank screen as if the hard drive were blank. I can't even use the terminal in the Leopard setup because for some reason my PS2 keyboard doesn't work in setup. Does anyone know why it wont boot or why my keyboard isn't working? What vanilla kexts have you tried out that work? Stock kernel? Security updates works? blubyu
Hello. What vanilla kexts have you tried out that work? Stock kernel? Security updates works? Still have to use the amd kernel. This will probably always be the case. I do have all the security updates applied but you have to use Marvin's AMD to fix the files. Rev 2 is suppose to have all the updates included so I would wait until it comes out instead of updating. I had to rebuild my entire system after the first attempt at applying the security update As for vanilla kexts, I haven't played with them much so I don't have alot of info on that. So why did I even play with the EFI then? Because I can It is kind of cool to see my *Mac* show up as a Mac Pro in the System Profiler and it is cool to see that I am running on a GUID instead of using MBR. But EFI will never be the same for an AMD system like it is for Intel systems. Have you tried that? All i need now is to get my USB ports working without disabling legacy USB support in BIOS and a fix for the forcedeth freeze issue. Im currently running with 1 core. true duel
just wondering. what is gonna be the ease level of rev. 2? would i be able to give a disc to my parents and tell them to put it in and boot and install? will all the kexts be fixed already and put in already? sound? wireless internet/internet alone? Carpet
I would say it would probably be a bit easier, however, for the smoothest install its imperative that you know your hardware info (and whether its supported) prior to installation so you can install the proper kexts for your PC set up. BTW, kudos on the Wiki page for this AMD dvd, it has almost all the issues in one spot. ShadeZeRO
The wiki is only there due to your help. Keep posting problems, and solutions, and we'll try to keep it accessable for you all.. Speaking of which, I need to clean up some stuff, and upload files to mediafire. I don't think i've heard complains from mediafire ever.
