@smellyshoes90 I'm planning to do a compalition of guides, tips, files and solutions for the M1330 on the Genius Bar

That is great news! I ordered my M1330 yesterday and it should be here in a week or so. ;) I can't wait to get OSx86 running on it :)

Installed iatkos r2 but having no luck with powermanagement.bundle. I installed and overwrote the existing one along with the macnub AppleSMBIOS.kext. Still no luck...I installed with stock kexts and such...any other ideas? Also installed the 8400 drivers and now can't reboot/shutdown correctly. Thanks!

Try the kexts included in the SpeedStep package from here: http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2727

What I cant remember right now is if the Vanilla AppleACPIPlatform.kext affect the bettery indicator, I'll be make some test and report back.

Hi Everyone,My name is Muramoto.

I tried the code dump from Fedora 8 Live CD.

I found infomation ,M1330's no sound speaker cause to alsa'bug.

and the bug fixed on alsa 1.0.15 or higher.

So,I tried Fedora 8 it's include alsa 1.0.15.

M1330's Speaker is OK on Fedora 8.

I tried using the dumped codec file, but i failed.

I tried some module option ,

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=dell-3stack

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=3stack

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=5stack

modprobe snd-hda-intel

And Get dumped codec file, patched by HDAPatcher v1.16

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > codec0.txt

but all no sound from speaker.

My M1330 's spec is,

Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz

Mem 2GB

X3100 Graphics ( I'm using sleep & wake trick , thx )

Wireless Intel 3495ABG

Kalyway leopard 10.5.1

I attached the dumped codec files I used.

codec0.txt is no module option version.

codec0_dell_3stack.txt

codec0_3stack.txt

codec0_5stack.txt

codec0.txt

I'm runnig 10.5.2 (9C23) no changes to shutdown/reboot/sleep or performance gain yet :dev:

Today I put a 1390 Dell Wireless card for a moment, borrowed froma a friend Dell's Inspiron 1501, it was detected flawlessly as an Airport card ;), maybe I order one of those cards now that I know that those Inspirons are selling with that card only.

Ok, I have had time to play a bit with my laptop with osx now. I installed with leopard iatkos r2 with darwinefi, Dell 1505 wireless-n (broadcom) works out of the box, also webcam and bluetooth. To get battery meter, i copied AppleACPIPowerSource into AppleACPI plugins directory and changed to the modified PowerManagment.bundle. Works perfect. So everything is ok. I replaced the darwinefi installed from the dvd with netkas pc-efi 8.0 and macgirls nvidia c.a.boot.plist. Copied 10.5.2 nvidia kext and opengl, the gfx now works fully, but bluetooth crashes as well as system profiler is not able to show the basic information now and reboot is not working anymore. I get bluetooth up and systemprofiler properly if i boot with -v.

I've tried to get Time machine working on my external HD: I 've used Disk Utility to erase it and setted-up as my Time Machine backup. And when TimeMachine is supposed to make the 1st backup, I've got an error : "backup failed" (could not find the backup disk)

Does someone use Timemachine ? Is it working ? if so which configuration is used ?

ps: I cannot neither see my OSX system partition on my StartUp disk configuration but only Network Selector. Is it normal ?

It appears that 10.5.2 kexts have problems with shutdown/restart with 8x00 cards. strage thing about your BT.

Did you try the Time Machine fixes, there is a pinned topic on one of the leopard subforums.

Startup Disk not showing any disks is normal.

i think i've got a boost in coverflow view and video play (quicktime)

i'm searching for audio and card reader solution.. i've found this blog and this posts (for linux).. can it help us? i'm not a programmer so i don't know if it works for us:

Card Reader

Audio

ps. i'm working yet.. i've noted that dell will ship that laptop with new ubuntu release (7,10).. i'm downloading the live cd.. i hope it can help us!!! :D

Thanks for your response.

I've found a procedure to fix time machine and replaced some kext files but it didn't work. I've tried with 2 different packages but both failed.

Is somebody using the time machine feature on the xps1330 with iAtkos patch ?

@macgirl: it would be great to add time machine fix on your genius bar tuto

I've received my dell wireless card this morning (bought on ebay) and I am finally able to post on this forum from safari browser :)

With time machine working, it will be almost perfect ...

auto installer for TMFix here

just the patched kext here

Thx for the links. I've ran autoinstaller but no wonder : "Time Machine Error: The backup volume could not be found"

Anyone has an idea ?

Anyway, thanks to all participants of this discussion

Edit2 : after research, seems like mac adress is directly linked to ethernet. And xpsM1330's ethernet does not work on leopard.

If someone uses TimeMachine on the xps M1330, I would like to know if the computer has got a mac adress. It is showed there: System Preferences/Network panel/Ethernet/Advanced/Ethernet/

Ethernet ID: field should show the MAC Address for the computer

Thanks in advance

@macgirl

Taurga is hard at work with the 9228 codec... He gave me some test kexts, which allowed use for the 2nd headphone jack, and the mic jack.... nothing worth switching to... yet, but I'm guessing he will have the speakers cracked in a few days.

Anyways, have you seen any of the new updated 10.5.2 OpenGL Framework/NVidia kexts that have been updated, aka with a newer build of 10.5.2? HOPEFULLY it will solve the shutdown/sleep issue... but seriously sleep use to work, I couldn't shut down....

awesome, the m1330 is a few steps away from being a perfect hackintosh. Power of a macbook pro, but cheaper and smaller than a regular macbook!

Needed mainly:

Sleep\shutdown\restart

scrolling on the trackpad

Other smaller stuff:

ethernet

intel wireless cards

play\stop\ffw\etc buttons

ok...

My sound stopped working through the speakers today. It was working fine yesterday. The only thing I changed after installing the ktext is edit the plist file to get the battery to show up in this kalyway install (changing the version from 1.0.5 to 1.1.0. I tried reinstallign the kexts, but it still doesnt work! someone please help me figure this out :D

And how did you use AppleHDAPatcher with the codecs, it gives me:

AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 Taruga v1.16

_______________________________________________________

Codec :

Vendor Id :

Subsystem Id :

_______________________________________________________

* Detected unsupported Codec

When I drag either file, or both of them to it... I tried HDApatcher 1.15 to 1.20
