This is my first ever contribution to the forums, and I am definately not as good with OS X ect. as many of the people on this forum. That being said, rather than contribute with technical info, a few friends of mine and I put together a video to entertain the OS X86 knowledgeable masses.

To preface the video, we loaded up a Dell E1505 with uphuck 1.3 and set everything as default as possible. We then took it to a few local computer reatailers/tech support centers. Those places were a Dell kiosk in the mall, a Best Buy's Geek Squad, and the Apple Store. I did my best to act computer dumb, and acted like I didn't know how OS X even got on there.

You can view the video at:

There is also a better quality version in 16:9 you can download at:

Also, I wanna thank devilhood for his awsome guide along with all OS X86 developers

Without these guys none of this would be possible.

Yeah, I agree with numberz. Someone install Kalyway Leopard 9a527 and then go and show it to tech support. Make sure the About this Mac screen is (with the 10.5 identification) is displayed when you go to the tech support :(

But an easier way to convince the techs is to just get an ordinary 10.4 Hackint0sh install and edit the AboutThisMac.strings file to say Mac OS X 10.5.

Hi Randominity:

Thanks for the video. It was entertaining!

I did something similar at local Best Buy near my work. I had a Dell Inspiron 1300 that have Mac OS X 10.4.6 with native resolution (1400x900). I wanted to see how it looked on the widescreen HDTV (Fairly well!) lol I was known as the guy who had Mac on Dell. :(

Nice video, those geek squad guys should take a look at this site sometime.. I thought everyone who knew anything about macs already knew about osx86... Frankly I'd expect the Tech desk guys to be unsurprised at it. Apple guy sure knew...

I'd think that they would at least go home that day and google "os x on pc hardware" or something... which leads them almost directly here!

It wasn't in the video cause its hard to hear, but one of the geek squad guys mentioned something about wanting the disc we installed it with. I didn't hear it, but commander64 supposedly caught it while editing it. I'll see if I can get him to post something, he found a lot of subtleties we missed while filming

randominity,

Awesome! Get commander64 to share an enhanced version of the clip where you can hear the guys saying the stuff about the disc.

Lets go hand out copies of Uphuck 1.3 to the Best Buy and Future Shop stores and see what they make of it...Maybe they'll start selling computers preinstalled with OS X

Ha ha! It's about time they started doing that. :D

By the way, they guy requests Uphuck in time frame 3:51. He attempts to over talk the technician that suggests wiping the hard drive.
