P.U.G.
I also installed iAtkosr2. Yet still experiencing the same problems, the card (dell1490 brcm4312) is recognised as a third party airport card, and it does connect to my wifi but loses connection after a few minutes and then is unable to find wireless networks. Just keeps scanning. eventually it turns itsself off and theres no way to turn it back on... and that makes me a saaaaaad panda.. PS. no hotplug, no tape, no hardware tricks whatsoever... mehdymehdy
hello everyone . i hope someone who knows something reads this . i really need an answer . thank you. i have a compaq presario with garbage celeron and the intel 950 . but this laptop suprises me . it works great with any OS i installed . vista , gusty gibbon , and now mac , both aitkos and kalyway install with no problem . everything works great. only one thing is the 4311 . i've searched everywhere . tried the bcm43xxenabler.sh no luck yet. my card is bcm4311KFBG .it works great with vista ultimat and works geat on gusty gibbon linux. so what is there to be done to get the airport working . i don't even see the airport in the list .and i tried many ways. ok the wireless switch i can keep it on by restarting from vista and it'll stay on when i'm in mac. last thing does this replace IOPCIfamily.kext work . did anyone try it on compaq presario with bcm4311KFBG? thank you. I have the exact some brcm4311 on my Presario c500, tried the IOPCIFamily.kext mentioned here, it didn't work for me. I have found out the pins that are power related, at some point I am going to apply external power to the card directly to see if it can be turn on that way. Have anyone tried that, btw? If it ain't working, cowboy it! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63024-development-broadcom-4311-fix/page/11/#findComment-666041 Share on other sites
Stanford-Binet
if you boot windows first, then do a soft reset, it'll keep the card powered up when you start osx. booger_sniffer5000
The card that comes with the C500 series does not work in OS X. You will need to buy a Dell Wireless 1390 or 1490 off eBay and use the PCI fix. Keep in mind that you will need to hot plug the card because it doesn't bypass the BIOS whitelist. I am working on a fix but my computer is in the middle of being fixed so I can't continue until I get it back. mehdymehdy
hello guys , thanks for the replay. i got enough answers . i know now that there are couple of solutions to this wireless delima. one is that to go through the who process of buying a new pci card and the fix and all that . another option is that i can just buy a good usb adapter that supports both mac and pc . forget this now. i have a question???? i read somewhere that the C500/C300's mini-pci slot is not recognized by mac osx, therefore the osx tiger or leopard is not reading the card cus the the "slot" is not recognized :S, is that true ???? if you know about this please confirm. another question is about the "bios whitlist bypass hack", i tried that last night , and i got everything right untill i reached the part where i had to find the "offset 0x1505". and i kept looking inside that BIOSCOD4 inside the HexIt , and i just can't find it . than i realize ,my laptop is C300 so it has a different Bios set than the other hp laptop. so the question, is there offset 0x1505. Did i miss it? sorry for being boring oh and i forgot to ask , can you explain how to hot plug ??? i don't know how to do it the right way so i don't fry the mother board . Booger, i never did get it to work, with hotplug my dell 1390 is recognized correclty but i cant turn it on, did you put a tape on pin20 , I did a fresh install of iatkos and copied the chun-nan's kext, do let me know if you find out how to correctly flash the 1390 so that i can pass whitelist as well as turn on in osx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63024-development-broadcom-4311-fix/page/11/#findComment-666871 Share on other sites

applehacker
well, i dont know what to tell u. mehdymehdy
i killed my laptop . i found the whitelist on my bios . and i found the offset where all the minipci cards are listed . and there were 3 broadcom and 3 intel minipci supported in the list . so i choosed to change one of the intel ID to the new broadcome card which is not supported . so i got the information of the new broadcome card from the windows vista device manager . so i had all information needed . i entered the line correctly as it should be looking at how the bios already had some broadcom id's entered . for example if it's 14E4 it's supposed to be E4 14 and the rest of the numbers after that i flashed the bios . and when it was done the laptop tried to shut down but it didn't . it took 30 min . i gave up and i shut down from the power button . now the laptop doesn't turn on anymore . i'm trying pheonix bios crisis disk . i created one and i put the correct bios for my laptop inside . and i used external usb drive . and did the win + B key trick . and the laptop turns on and the disk is read . but nothing happens after 2 min . it seems that it's installing the bios . but at the end it doesn't fix it . so i'm stuck here . i'm guessing i have to send this for repair . and the warranty is over . so i'm simply doomed. if your thinking of doing the bios hack , think twice , one is the recovery on your laptop possible and is it easy to do , i mean make sure you know no one ever complained that it wont recover . second make sure you have warranty. bad luck for me . good luck to you guys. booger_sniffer5000
I don't understand why you modified your BIOS. The SPROM hack is used for bypassing the whitelist. Sorry to hear that you couldn't reflash your BIOS. By the way, I should have my computer somewhere between April 7th and April 11th. I will try and get an SPROM that bypasses the whitelist and still allows the card to function so when that is done all you have to do is flash the SPROM.
