You can find this info in the forum, but chances are that you'll have to search very hard and experiment several times before you succeed, if at all.

This method worked for my OS X 10.4.10 install after I replaced my mobo with a Bad Axe 2.

Download this: STAC9274D_83847621.txt

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=8191

Obviously save it as a text file.

Now download: AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16.zip, ATM the latest Taruga patcher

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=17878

Unzip.

Drag and drop STAC9274D_83847621.txt into the AppleHDA Patcher icon

After you authenticate, it should start patching.

Reboot.

Edit: do not install Audio Update 2007-001 from Software Update.

My /proc/ sound card is slightly different, still works, i have only tested 2 channel output but cannot get input working

osx does recognize (in applications/utilities/Audio MIDI Setup) that there is an internal mic, but it is greyed out.

Has anyone had any luck patching Leopard with this? I'm using the 1.17 (leopard version) of Taruga's HDA patcher along with this STAC9274 dump, but it doesn't appear to be working.

Edit:

Just tried with the older version of the patcher (1.16) and that seems to work.

Are you using a vanilla kernel or a patched version? I cannot seem to get my sound working using vanilla kernel. I have not tried it any other way.

I'm running ToH 10.5 upgraded to 10.5.1 still the sound will not work with Leo. It works fine in 10.4.x but I will have everything gray out even with the newest Taruga's HDA ...

Please tell if you have any working solutions

OSX86: ToH 10.5.1

motherboard: Intel Badaxe 2

processor: Intel Quad Core

memory: 2x1gb 667 DDR2

video: nvidia 7300gt/ko

hard drives: Hitachi Deskstar 320gb SATA

I posted AppleHDAPatcher 1.16 in this thread:

tnx tasc. downloaded it but doesn't seem to work w/ my SigmaTel STAC9271D. when i drag & drop the STAC9274D_83847621 text file, nothing happened. i still rebooted my computer but still no sound. pls. advise. tnx.

MACinized, you are going to need to get you hands on a linux dump of your specific sound hardware as it is different (9271d vs 9274d). I think there are a couple posts on these forums that tell you how to do this - it requires booting into linux with a liveCD (or something similar) and dumping your audio hardware.

i'm sorry tasc but i don't seem to understand how to "dump my audio hardware". i have a copy of ubuntu edgy eft. will u be kind enough to guide me how to do it?

What I have done many times before is:1. Download Taruga's app and unzip it. (I have tried the last 3 versions to no avail)2. Download the stac92XX.txt -- where XX is the number of the hardware you have -- and drag it into the icon of Taruga's app -- in my case stac9223 that works in Tiger just fine ;-)3. You will be prompted for authentication -- enter password --4. Download AppleHDA.kext (attached in zip format most of the time -- latest version of Taruga come with it).5. Copy to /System/Library/Extensions/ and replace original (backup would be a good idea -- authentication again). 6. Open Terminal7. Type "sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache"8. Type "sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions9. Open up Disk Utility10. Choose the "Repair Disk Permissions" button.11. Reboot.I hope this helps a littleTry SigmaTel STAC9223It works with my harware ... also BadAxe2 ... I have three of them with QuadCore and they all using 9223 for some reason! :P Tiger works fine with it but Leo is not

I know this is long after you posted but I can confirm line out working on my Bad Axe 2 with Leopard 10.5.2 Kalyway. It shows mic as well but I've yet to get that working and I don't know of anyone that has. If they have pass it on.
