Lostgame
Safari is the only browser I will use, it's nice, it's neat, it's almost back to the good old days of IE 5, with all the important upgrades so you can view your internet content. It's very, very nice. However, Apple will never try to port it, what does it have to gain from it right now? sHARD>>
Opera > Safari > Firefox Thus, seeing a port of Safari to Windows would be cool. But hey, they already ported the rendering engine and you can grab a buggy copy of it here. It crashes a lot, but hey, it works! head
However, Apple will never try to port it, what does it have to gain from it right now? Well, maybe Apple has something new on their roadmap that has to do with internet accessibility (maybe a huge update of .mac?) - so they could need a windows-based browser which supports that new kind of thingy... erbic
Firefox FTW. And I don't even use Safari on my MBP. Camino owns it in almost every way. *hums loudly to block out the people who disagree* Edited January 17, 2007 by ErBiC Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38880-safari-for-windows/#findComment-277737 Share on other sites
Lostgame
Camino is great, but isn't it still PPC? erbic
Major one I can see is that it's all Cocoa, unlike Firefox. Seems to run faster, too. A little glitchy here and there (try to load Xbox.com for example), but overall a very nice browser. sandmanfvrga
Firefox does take a few seconds to come up the first time, but it is rock solid after that. I think I will stick with it. Conan Obrien
there used to be a browser called SWIFT it was based on webkit just like safari is... it was designed for windows and it was the most unstable browser ive ever used in my life but it did not take that much system resources and was fast... they will not port safari to windows because it is not necessary for windows users unlike iTunes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38880-safari-for-windows/#findComment-278437 Share on other sites

Haha, you don't have to be sarcastic on us, we're just saying that it's not likely for Safari. If you're that sarchastic, people will think you're serious when you say things like "porting iLife to Windows," just be a little careful. Nickhamm
At first I thought it would be nice to have a functional, lightweight browser on my Windows machine so it didn't take forever to load up like Firefox does. then I realized how resource intensive and slow their iTunes and Quicktime ports for windows are, and figured ti wouldn't be any faster or better in the end, so I lost interest. iTunes almost runs faster on my iMac DV400 with 512MB memory than it does my 2.2GHz Sempron with 768MB of memory. bliss
well i dont want to say that apple will port ilife - maybe they goth other software for windows at work... well ok theres quicktime for windows - but quicktime comes with itunes - so why the updater? i dont think they waste their time at apple and port the updater to windows just for iTunes and Quicktime... remember: ever thought before 1997 that there will be interent explorer on mac os?? and it was the mac os standard brwoser for a time. so with apple i think anything is possible Edited January 19, 2007 by bliss Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38880-safari-for-windows/#findComment-279308 Share on other sites
retroz
Another vote for Camino on OSX, Firefox on PC. Firefox on OSX, seems a bit slower.....will have to check it out again. One poster said it starts off slow then picks up speed? retroz
One of the features though that I love although simple, (Camino) is that hitting a new tab opens to yahoo.com or what ever you set it too. Firefox is still a blank screen. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38880-safari-for-windows/#findComment-279536 Share on other sites
sandmanfvrga
Well I got camino and I like it. It is pure cocoa, and it runs faster. I am impressed. BUT, two things they need to fix: I shouldn't have to Command+Click to make a link open in a new tab. Download center/management should have an option such as "Ask me where to download to each time" The download one is minor, but the other is a major one. I also saw pop up in camino alot, is there a plug to fix that?
