Intel Wireless driver

I'm not following this driver development, so I don't know if WEP is supported or not.

Can someone please give me that information?

I've got a problem. I can see my wireless network but if I try to connect it waits for a little while and then the power is turned off. Dmesg shows:

when you get this message press the wireless switch only once - the driver will start scaning.them use nsgui to turn it off - you'll get 0x40001use nsgui (again) to turn on - it will start scaning and you'll get 0x50000if you reboot to windows the card will remain on

this is a bug - just retry to associate. if it fails might be because of a unsuported network type

i need people with this card to submit the logs and help writting new code. the code for this driver was taken from iwi3945 and need to be rewritten for 4965.

i've put the right firmware for 4965. this will be the first step to make the driver workthis is why the logs are importanti also need someone with this card to get some of the linux 4965 code and write it into iwi4965 - this is a easy step because the code is shared with 3945. it only need specific 4965 functions

I did what you said, but the driver didn't start scaning because the system.log was the same after I turned the switcher once.

 

Now I've reinstalled the iwi2200 driver and I got this here when I tried to get the system.log (en1 is the 2200bg card):

After that I turned the switcher once more, waited a little and had to press the "set power on" button (not to turn the card off) and then turned it off. I got:

Doesn't work on my confi.

But there is a new problem, when I deleted iwi3945.kext my wired Lan card driver was changed and now doesn't work too.

So i have to reinstall Uphuck, or has someone some possible idea how i can repair it?

Hi Jalavoui, here are the logs as pairs before and after Network Selector launch with option 2. The same Error #10 appears. The previous logs were cleared with ONYX. Thanks a lot for keeping this issue and trying to solve it.

Call me crazy, but couldn't you work with the guys doing the IPW2200bg driver for Linux over at http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net. You could probably port the WEP/WPA parts of the driver fairly easily, I'd imagine. Not having WEP/WPA is the only thing holding me back from using OSX86 full time. But still, thanks so much to you guys for your efforts in creating this great driver!

this release might fail in the mac address detection, but should fix the firmware hw/sw error

if any developer like to that a look check the start() and ipw_up() functions

i also add debug values for the radio on/off - use networkselector for it - and see the log file before posting. some people are posting logs without this values - that doesn't help at all

Acer Travelmate 292Lmi - look in my sig is now working 100% hardware compatible. The only thing lacking in hardware support is the infra red port and no resolution switching in otherwise CI and QE supported Ati Radeon 9700 Mobility but for the rest 100% hardware compatibility has been reached!

 

Thanks for putting so much efford in these drivers, the gui to the network selector works great as do the drivers! I am using the unprotected part of my FON router to connect to the web via Wifi - works like a charm!

I hope you guys don't mind me asking a silly question.. I"ve been keeping up with this thread from time to time and apparently am way behind in determing what progress was made on the Intel 3945 Wireless.

 

Are we at a point where Rev. 482 is stable and working or is there still alot of debugging going on with this card?

My notebook is Acer Extensa 2900, is very similar to your Acer Travelmate 292Lmi. Does your switcher work? Do you also have a dualbooted windows? My wlan card doesn't work under it, because it is powered down under mac os and the switcher cannot power it on under windows any more. Jalavoui said it failed to work and I should turn it once under mac os after the "iwi2200: IPW_INTA_BIT_RF_KILL_DONE", the wlan card should start working. But it doesn't. Does the switcher work by you under mac os?

 

Does someone have another idea?

hello there...

just wanted to report back from the furious finals here in my UNI, two weeks from now and i'll be back in trying to do whatever i can to implement secure networks [WEP first] in our lovely lovely iwi2200 driver...

 

already did some research in the BSD ieee80211 generic driver for some implementation tips...

hopefully some of the stuff there will be more useful than the linux drivers since the BSD ones use the mbuf structure for data packets and this is what we use in our driver while the linux ones use the skb_buff structure in their packets....

 

so just wanted you guys to know, i'm not dead [yet] and i'll be back in two weeks...

Spu, what might help is when you have a dual booting windows system like I have do the following:

Boot Windows and turn on the lan-card by browsing the web or something like that. Then reboot without switching the laptop off or manipulating the switch. The card is recognized (visible when you do a -v boot) and the LED stays on when you Boot into OSX. Then run the NetGui app and turn to full mode and 'turn on' the card from within the menu.

Scan for an unprotected network and connect to it. Your card should function properly!

 

There is a problem with the card being detected (visible upon -v boot) but not actually being turned on from within the application. Turning it on in Windows first and reboot into OSX does fix this for some. But this will not help the single booters that suffer this problem.

 

I am not sure if this is a known bug that the author(s) is/are familiar with.
