hello Masters,

probably you've noticed that I'm out of the topic long time ago but unfortunately my notebook (thinkpad T40) is broken.

battery or charger loop (or motherboard) isn't working well... it's dead.

I will try to repair it and come back to test iwi2100 again.

regards

Hi to all of you (Intel Wireless 3945 a/b/g community), development is going on by your hard work and tests. Thanks.

Here are my logs for today's version 476 of iwi3945.dmg after launching Network Selector option 1 (older logs were removed after cleaning with ONYX, in order to have a shorter list).

I forgot to tell you that the wireless card is working perfectly under Vista (I tested it in several conditions and everything is working, even on protected networks).

hey guys, i hope its helpful - here is my system information to my wireless network card 3945.

the system tool SIW from gtopala.com gave me this info!

hopefully it is useful to all iwi3945 programmers!!

if those few german words inside the description are disturbing for you,

you can pm me to edit this post into english by changing the language inside the program!

good luck and progress - kick apples ass like others do with m$

;-)

Thanks dancemc87 for the tip and realy mwould be helpfull for developing the working drivers for osx.

I have extracted the data from SIW and I have seen differences on the notebook model I own. (Dell Inspiron 6400, CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 1GB RAM, HDD 160 GB Toshiba, DVD-RW Philips SDVD 8820, Intel 945GM graphics card, Broadcom 440x network controler, Intel WireLess 3945 a/b/g, Sigmatel 9220 HDA Sound).

Here is the TXT file with the records of the details reported by SIW 1.69 under Vista, in English. Hope realy helps this.

I have the same error, don't know what to do either, I saw in dmesg something about "turning wifi on" turning wifi off" or something like that...

don't know what to do.

I would like to help out as well. .

any news if someone's working on it? good luck, hope a realease can be done very soon

[Just a reminder to all the new people]

Releases are made frequently. Check this out. Read the FAQ. Blahbiddyblah.

Also, please read at least the last couple of pages in this thread if you haven't been here for a while.

If you are looking for something specific, search for it. I recommend using Google (type your search and add on site:insanelymac.com); InsanelyMac's search engine is almost useless.

Keep in mind these are BETA, if not ALPHA, releases. The 2200/2915 driver is the only one that really works right now.

Please post logs using getlogs3.command on the iwidarwin code site.

Ok. Have fun testing. :P

Hi,

I have read the last 50 pages of this thread, and I have also read the faq and downloaded the command3 , however, MacOs seems to think that the module is loaded (kextload iwi3945 gives me "module already loaded" but the networkselect program gives me the error stated two messages above.

Also the loggcomand3 doesn't seem to work, (probably due to the error with the module not being loaded) since it is trying to grep iwi3945 and doesn't find any. It doesn't write anything inside the logs.

any suggestion what I should do?

I use 10.4.9 (Uphuck), kernel is from may 6 with speedstep/powersaving patches).

hey guys, its been a while since i tried this but im back.

the problem is that i keep getting this same error.

i keep getting the fffff.... mac address and there doesnt

seem to be any scanning going on. well im just not sure

if this is worth continuing on for me. anyone else have

any ideas? anyways here are the logs and my networkselector

output.

Hi to you all,

Also i have a Intel Pro wireless 3945 card.

I also have an E-tech usb wireless adapter so i can internet from my HackBook, but still i would like to see my internal card working.

I Know many of you are trying to do your best and thats superb.

I've installed the latest release of the driver, and all that goed well.

I can even lunch the network selector utility in the terminal.

I also can turn on and off my card and i have a mac adress displayd.

So why don't i get a list of all networks around me?

Again i have a USB netwrok adapter connected so i have ethernet / internet and therefore this is not a priority for me, but still i would like to know

Many thanks in advance, just for building these drivers even if the don't quite work yet.

I'm having a bit of a problem getting the file. Well.. I shouldn't say I'm having a problem getting the file, I was able to download it just fine (for the 2200), but I can only download it on my Window's PC. How would I go about getting it to the Mac? A DMG file is a mountable image and should be able to be burned to a CD (Magic ISO has DMG support), but when I try to open the file with Magic ISO it give me an error that says "Can't find the file or file isn't CD image file!". I've tried burning the "image" as data on a CD and put that over to the Mac and it sees it but when I try to mount it using OS X I get an error that says "The Following disk images failed to mount" Then the reason is "Device not configured".

Edit: Turns out Mac's not wanting to play nicely. I found a quick fix so I could mount the image if anybody else is having this problem:

Go to the Terminal and type:

sudo kextunload -c com.apple.AppleDiskImageController
sudo kextload -b com.apple.AppleDiskImageController

Then exit the Console and you're able to mount the images untill you reboot.. I wish I could find a permanent fix for this.

Hello, I downloaded the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 DMG file from your Google Code website and ran the installer. I rebooted and then 40 seconds later I was back at the desktop. I looked in the applications folder and found two new things:

networkSelector

nsGUI

Looks like everything installed fine... I obviously decided to open the nsGUI first and after a while nothing happened... I ran the networkSelector and it gave me a

Error: Could not get ID for kernel control. 2

Hmm, so I opened up the Activity Monitor and noticed nsGUI was running in the background. I quited the program and tried to fire it up again... still I have the same results. So I went back to your Google Code website and noticed your Trouble Shooting section. I opened up the terminal to verify the Kext was even running:

kexstat | grep iwi

Thats what was on your website and the terminal told me, kextext wasnt a command. Then I started to think maybe you typed the command wrong in the Wiki, so I typed:

KextStat | Grep IWI

I hit enter and nothing happans. Just a new line appears for me to input another code... I found the uninstaller method on your website as well and inputed those commands into the Console. No luck. So I manually deleted the installed .kext, nsGUI and then networkSelector. All traces of the installer and anything related with it are gone. I downloaded a new installer and mounted it. Now everytime I try to install it, it gives me the upgrade option. WHY!? I cant get the program to load and or apparently get rid of it.

Could somebody help me with it?

I have a Dell Inspirion 6000, with the 2200 version.

I was having the exact same problem as you Gangsta, and I couldn't get either my wireless card (which is supposed to be supported through this), or my USB device (which is also supported, but won't work) so I'm giving up on the whole project. So back to XP the laptop goes and I'll just build a computer in a couple months utilizing Mac parts along with others.

Thanks for all the help that everyone has been giving out though, I'll be back!

Sorry, I know there is an answer for this, but I don't remember. I think it has something to with not recognizing your wifi card. Are you sure it is a 2200?

Can someone else help?

Hmm, so I opened up the Activity Monitor and noticed nsGUI was running in the background. I quited the program and tried to fire it up again... still I have the same results. Very close. Unlike Windows though, filenames in *nix are case-sensitive.

Try this:

kextstat | grep iwi

I hit enter and nothing happans. Just a new line appears for me to input another code... I found the uninstaller method on your website as well and inputed those commands into the Console. No luck.
Oh, I see you got it right in the terminal. If it says nothing, then the kext is not loaded. You can try this:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

kextload -t iwi2200.kext

This is verbose mode for kext loading. It may help you out.

It says Upgrade because the receipt is still there from the last(first) install. Do this after you delete the kext:

sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/iwi2200.pkg

Thanks for catching the error in the Wiki. (and thanks for actually reading it - everyone should!)

I will update it and also create an uninstall script. Hopefully I can do that tonight.
