How can i see Airport??? Can you post a "how to"??? Please help me... Reading the FAQ would awnser your question. iwi doesn't show up as an airport, and it never will. It did in the past, but the networkselector looked like a better solution, i guess Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/63/#findComment-338969 Share on other sites

Macario
Firstly hello all, I´ve been reading the list for a long time and finally I decided to join Today I installed the new release but I´m getting the kernel panic screen. By the way the numbering of the versions could be improved, I´m trying to find wich version is, but no luck My network interface seems to be recognice but when I press number 1 in the Network Selector, the kernel panic pops up. Just if it helps I can say you that I deleted the IO80211.kext from my machine. But before this I was still having the kernel panic panic. My computer is a Compaq Presario V4000. Intel Wireless 2200 Pro. Mac Os 10.4.7 (Build 8J2135) I post you some files just in case someone can help. Any help would be very apreciated Thanks a lot Uppss I forget the system.log Just in case dmesg.txt ioreg.txt system.log.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/63/#findComment-339133 Share on other sites
ay00
Hey all, good on you with all this work, This is really starting to go eh. I'm a HUGE newb have a problem with the iwi3945 driver, i'm running os x86 10.4.7 kernel version 8.4.1 on a dell inspiron 6400. i've been trying to get this running for quite a while. everytime i install the driver from the .dmg file on the site my whole computer starts running really slowly, and it doesn't even work so i uninstalled it...finally i found the Archive.zip file and did "sudo chown -R root:wheel iwi3945.kext" then "sudo kextload iwi3945.kext". The port recognizes as built-in ethernet 1, but when i run networkselector and it doesn't do anything, when i press options 1, 3, and 4 it just brings me back to the main menu, and 2 doesn't list any networks. Can someone tell me what I should be doing or in the direction I should be headed to get this running.. Thanks in advance AY Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/63/#findComment-339213 Share on other sites

cyclonefr
hope huge efforts are going to be done by 3945 owners that know a little bit in code. That's not my case , shame on me 'cause we are drifting. CPngN
All - I haven't touched the 2200 driver since it's first availability as a wireless driver. I'll probably still go pick up a usb adapter so I can connect securely, but I suppose turning off security and locking via MAC is better than nothing. But only if it's stable..... so... Is the current build stable enough or does it still lock up after enough data has gone through? (Was seeing things about large xfers but I got the feeling it was just after x amount of data - be it 1 xfer or over a few days). of course, I have to reboot every day now anyway, it seems, as my regular ethernet connection dies the same way. I'm wondering what a good 802.11g adapter would be to get for my Dell 9300 hackintosh so I could just avoid all this - anyone gone this route? Thanks! asap18
@javaloui just throwing suggestions, but since Apple's wireless mechanism is closed source you may need to look at porting wpa_supplicant to osx or xsupplicant for secure network support. ciper
Please read the FAQ I spent a lot of time writing. Specifically encrypted networks arent supported and the 3945 driver is for development only (IT DOESNT WORK). harvinder: You can help me. I tried to create a "troubleshooting" page for new installs like yours. If you could run through it and tell me if it needs any changes I would appreciate it. I just wrote the page so I don't know how good it is. http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/wiki/Troubleshooting jalavoui: Whats the easiest way to tell which version of the driver you are using? I'd like to include that in the FAQ. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/63/#findComment-339951 Share on other sites
