bluesonic
experventol, did you shut down the PC and start it after it being powered off. It only works me that way, the laptop must be shut down (not rebooted), and then the laptop has the backlight, but no image... that's how my laptop works. Sheriff, after trying to boot with the modified kext files you post (ATINDRV.kext, IONDRVSupport.kext) and the ATIinject.kext you prepared for me, my screen goes grey with vertical color lines (see the picture under). What did i not do right? Thanks a lot for your patience. cheers

bluesonic
Nope, I've been trying pretty much everything with my A6ja... without success. I also tried OSX 10.4.5 in my laptop, with all the same methods as in 10.4.8, and got black screen too... I'm about to give up soon
Lord Uffa
Hi, I was able to get something like 1400x1050 res changing the default value in com.apple.boot etc. (I put 1680X1050, but it seems the display osx uses - the one in System/Library/DIsplay/Overrides/ - has only 1400x1050 for max value... it would be nice to try with appropriate display, or to know how to change this setting) with qe enabled, and it's not bad. Thus giving me better visibility; however nochance to change resolution in prefs. In getting EDID, phoenix complains about the fact the edid structure is not v1 rev 3and that some values can be reporter uncorrectly. could it be this the cause of the failure of atiinject.kext? Beselch
Hi, First of all, sorry for my english because I don´t write it so much (I´m spanish). I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with JaS 10.4.8 iso, semthex kernel and a X1300 graphic card, so I have installed the "Natit Auto" driver. My problem is that it doesn´t recognize my laptop screen. I see a black screen after the gray apple. When I connect my CRT monitor to the VGA output, all is ok (I see my desktop on the CRT monitor and I can change resolution). Any idea? Thanks! Lord Uffa
Hi Koala75, I tried even with softmccs, and I get a different edid; but raw data edid seems the same as the edid I get with phoenix. The strange thing, I think, is to have the same laptop as sheriffbounce and don't get expected results. I.E. the edid of sheriffbounce seems to be exactly like mine, not a surprise given the fact his laptop is the same as mine, except for the cpu clock. So I must suppose - if this is true - the solution lies in another place, not in edid or even in ATIinject.kext, but in some setting/kext/Display or other damn stuff the sheriff has and I haven't. Wouldn't it be nice to get an image of sheriffbounce system and compare with mine...? cheers, Nick Nick : I ve tried the same method as you, (...I was able to get something like 1400x1050 res changing the default value in com.apple.boot etc.) And it works at this res, so it's better than with 1024x768...but mouse tearing seems to be the same problem... Keep in touch... cheers... sorry guys for not replying earlier, had much stress last week... @Nick&Koala: no other tool than Phoenix EDID Tool gave me the right one, believe me! don't care about the error message Phoenix tool gives you about EDID 1.3 version blabla... the EDID is correct! Nick did you already gave me your EDID? lost the overview a lil... if not just it and i'll prepare a complete package with all files you need for the nx9420... if need anything else whats not working on your NB but working on mine just tell me (u r the first nx9420 owner i know having OS X installed beside me...) Koala: i'm really unsure about what could be the issue for you but since i have your EDID - i'll prepare a complete ATI package for u too (after sleeping a lil bit - just came back from the dj-ing @ a club...) QUESTION FOR ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT GOT MOBILITY X1600 WORKING WITH THIS SOLUTION: anybody got a VGA-port instead of DVI for external display? i know the ASUS series have DVI-D (which should be working in OSX) i just realized what MAX could have mentioned saying he needs some testing on the external display... VGA is not working - display stays black while beeing shown as active in OSX using the dual monitor info.plist in ATIinject.kext (thats the standard info.plist inside) looked around a little and already tried CRT1 instead of DFP1 but did not work... anyone got it working or got an idea how to fix this? cheers Sheriff
