Auggie
Accord -- you have to do that every time on reboot though, correct? My fix is permanent Ok, I really need to stop checking this, I'm running 8.4.1 and waiting for the release of the JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 Intel + Kernel DVD (today sometime, right?) just to get up to new kernel... so I can't contribute here really while being on topic. Sorry again. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36606-1049-hackintish-update-report/page/2/#findComment-260855 Share on other sites

TorqueX86
1) backup kernel and kexts2) install 10.4.9 combo update 3) do not RESTART, replace kernel and kext back. 4) update permissions and prebindings 5) restart and enjoy Pardon my ignorance, but what is the point in updating if we have to revert kernel and drivers to the old ones? Well, about kernel, I know that semthex' is better than apple's But shouldnt we have a look at the drivers and kexts? Maybe they are better in 4.9... Guest m41k
Ok, haven't noticed any issues yet except mounting samba shares. It won't let me mount it with finder, mounting it manualy doesn't work eather. I get this error: mount_smbfs: session setup phase failed: syserr = Broken Pipe Well, atleast my own "pipe" isn't broken. Update: Fixed it! I was able to mount the smb shares from my linuxbox, but not with my hackintosh from a hackintosh (both 10.4.9). Replaced the smbd binary with the one from 10.4.7/8 to /usr/sbin/ That's it. Guest goodtime
just install 10.4.9 combo update (8P2111).I install update, replace kernel back to 8.8.1, replace some kexts ( IOIATAFamily, AppleSMBIOS). System booted, but have problems, undefined symbols in BSDKernel.kext and ATIRadeon9700.kext. I replace them with same from 10.4.8. System works, qe/ci/qe2d works. BUT, i can't mount dmg image, i don't know what's kext is bad ( problem exactly in some kext, because i try 10.4.8 with kexts from 10.4.9, and wasn't able to mount dmg) So i back 10.4.8 kexts, update ATIRadeon9700 bundles and pluging to 10.4.9 version. System work now fine, qe/ci/qe2d supported. So instruction is 1) backup kernel and kexts 2) install 10.4.9 combo update 3) do not RESTART, replace kernel and kext back. 4) update permissions and prebindings 5) restart and enjoy If you cannot mount a disk image. There are some private frameworks that control this. The three private frameworks that are involved are: DiskImages.framework DiskManagement.framework MediaKit.framework From what I have found, these three private frameworks work together as a team. gt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36606-1049-hackintish-update-report/page/2/#findComment-263532 Share on other sites
pcampisi14
It's great that 10.4.9 is out, cracked and working but for me 10.4.8 is very stable and I see no reason to update. jaminmc
Well, Since it is only seeded to developers for testing... Doesn't mean that it is going to be the same with the final update. BarryBar
I've just updated to 10.4.9, but I'm having the DMG error. Is there a known way to fix it? You can by putting the System.kext from 10.4.8 back. .NetRolller 3D
Nvm, fixed. I had to edit /etc/rc, and it works like a charm. (I've replaced System.kext right after the update, so that wasn't the culprit.) However, I'm also having a non-critical DiskArb error, but it still boots, regardless of the error. Also, I have a 775Dual-VSTA. I used AppleVIAATA.kext and AppleHDA.kext from 10.4.8 (patched to work with this mobo, although AppleHDA.kext still doesn't work). Could sb make a 10.4.9 version of these kexts? Thanks! asapreta
But using all 10.4.8 KEXTs on 10.4.9 won´t make any difference for a 10.4.8 user, will it?
