any advice??

during installation, i selected X11 to install and the NvidiaNV40...may i know wat is X11 and the NvidiaNV40??could tis be the cause of the restart message?

Hellp,

Is there any way to use the Pata section and remove the SATA portion of it. The reason I ask is I am unable to figure out any way to disable my Sata drive that is used for other operating systems. Even if I disable in my bios this .kext still loads drivers for controller.I asked this previously , I was hoping someone might catch this post and helpme out. The only workaround so far is to physically disconnect the Sata drive :(

Thanks, Mike

There is an older version of the kext which doesn't support SATA, which was included on both of the early 10.4.8 install DVDs. If I had one to hand, I'd extract it from the install package for you, but sadly, I don't. Maybe somebody else can help.

Alternatively, can you remove device IDs from the plist? Or even just ignore it. It's read only, so it can't harm your disks! Just hide them in the finder...

hi there. i already have access to my SATA drive, thanks to all of you guys who patiently answered questions and posted instructions drivers/kext.

i have another question, just to update myself, can osx be installed natively to a SATA drive? im using nforce4 chipset

thanks!

Azureal,

Thanks for suggestions.

I have tried to edit out device ids from Sata portion, that caused inability to fully boot.

Hopefully someone can upload the original Pata version. :P

Thanks all, Mike

where is medevil, bikedude and all super guys who are the SATA saviors!?? It seems that MCP51 will never see macos . . . =[[

It seems bikdude is not going to be turning up here any time soon, if at all. Link.

He continues to post here, though nothing pertaining to our ongoing struggles with the MCP51 chip.

Fook and bugger.

With all do respect, f%#k that emo comrade. He did some great work, true. But, this work is still unfinished. So, alright I will finally introduce myself. I am Comrade Joshua Pineda of the Communist League, origins date back to Marx so don't give me any of that Soviet bs. Why is that relevant? You don't have to worry about me backing out due to exploitative external forces. I'm quite use to that. It's called life. So, we need to assemble a new team ASAP and finish this MCP51 driver. I posted earlier about Darwine but I am still an amateur and didnt quite have enough knowledge about it in my previous post. I have a suspicion that there could be a solution in there but im probably wrong. I have some ideas on the drawing board and some actual developers around me to assist me. I say we need about a full 5 member team here and if we go at it hard enough we might be able to bag this in two weeks. Who's up for it? If you are just post a reply with whatever knowledge and ideas you have and we can se if any of us can reach common grounds for a solution.

Are you on here ranting and raving about how you're gonna fix it again? Well do it, and stop shouting then. It may or may not have occurred to you that encapsulating a Windows NDIS driver is practical, however, network drivers are a whole different kettle of fish to ATA drivers! I'll believe it can be done when I see it.

I agree that jumping up and down, hurling abuse, is certainly not going to help. Unfortunately I myself have no knowledge or skills to contribute to our shared quest. I would, of course, be willing to help debug/test (once my mobo is back from RMA)...

All I can really do, for now, is hope that some fine soul sorts this out. Niall, where are you? :)

Did you bother to read all of my post? I'm trying to gather together the scraps of this forum and see who all is on board with me to start developing the MCP51 driver. The darwine loop theory is somthing thats going to take me a while. It should offer, if im Jesus Christ himself that is, a permenant fix to driver issues. Like, whenever OS X updates or new hardware comes out we should just be able to dump in the Win32 driver and let it rip. But, im to ill-skilled for that at the moment. I'll be working on it though, like I said. However and more importantly, i researched the 410/430 MCP51 chipset earlier and it turns out it's actually suppose to be the upgraded nForce2 chipset. That should offer a bit of hope. But, we need to pull together a team and share our resources. In fact, if anyone knows of a goud source for Darwin code please point me to it and I will go ahead and get started on my own. The Apple developers section of the apple site looked promising a few years ago. Im guessing I need to go start there right?

MCP51 is the southbridge. nForce 410 and 430 are northbridges. It just happens that at the current time, about the only southbridge compatible with the 410 and the 430 is the MCP51.

edit: Azureal beat me to it. Sorry for the post from the department of redundancy department post. :hysterical:
