Im new here, so pardon my nub ness.

I was able to use the JAS 10.4.8 iso to install on my Dell Inspiron notebook (insert dell comments here) with alot of help reading this forum. I have managed a QuadBoot with XP, Vista, OSX, and Kubuntu, with Grub as the sole boot loader.

I am trying to get the same setu on my desktop but I am running into trouble with the SATA driver. LIke a few above me here, I am running on the ASUS M2N32 SLI Deluxe.

I am very new to the osx / unix system, so I haven't the slightest idea how to add a kext to my iso or how to patch it with whatever patches you guys have posted up there. But from reading these last few posts, there doesnt seem to be much luck installing on the ASUS board.

If you guys manage to get it working, pelase let me know how to do it. LIke I said, I am very nub at this stuff, but I am hoping to learn form you guys here.

another question...

how do you edit the ISO image to add the kext, or any other file in it?

I tried with many programs....MagicISO, UtraISO, ISOBuster with no success. All damaged my iso.

With Transmac or directly into Mac OS X with writing permission on the mounted iso.

I'm gonna do, a ppf for you, maybe it will resolve your problem. When it's done i send you a pm

one more question...

does this patch contain the drivers that are needed after the installation, to boot?

edit:

okay, I made progress.

I put the SiliconImage SATA 3132 Controller and NForce SATA drivers in the iso.

The setp detects the drives on both controllers :afro:

The SiliconImage drivers come in a pkg format, so it wasn't a problem to add them so that they install with the system.

I hope it boots in the system then...

I'm going to try now.

Anyone has an idea how to make a pkg package out of the kext driver?

edit:

Yeah! My OSX installation is working perfectly if I exclude my network adapters...

SATA on the Silicon Controller is working excellent!

If anyone want's to try I'll make a patch.

The only thing you have to do is to unplug from the nVidia SATA controller the sata drive that you wan't to use and plug it in the internal SilconImage sata controller port.

The things left are to figure out the right driver for the nVidia onboard LAN adapters or for the integrated Realtek wireless card and how to properly integrate the nForce SATA driver.

Here's the patch: http://rapidshare.com/files/20232758/maste...geSATA.ppf.html

It's for the JaS 10.4.8 + ppf1 + Devian.diskutil iso.

I bought a SMC networks card that uses the Realtek 8139 chip and it should work with the old kext. I'm going to try now...

I hope the patch works....It is my first patch :thumbsup_anim:

And yes, you should install it on a SATA srive without a problem, but the drive must be connected to the SiliconImage sata controller (the one that has also one external port)

hi ive the same mobo asus m2n-sli de luxe

i created a dvd installer with

jas osx 10.48

defiant patch

bikdude patch

black soul patch and

masterboi patch

and when i can install from boot dvd

i ve kernel panic

maybe the problem is bikdude patch........

any sugestion????

masterboi

I downloaded your patch and applies it to my JAS 10.4.8.iso file

still cannot see my HDD on install.

2 questions ->

You mention the jas ppf1 and defiant patches, do I also need to apply them in addition to your patch, or are they included.

Which SATA conenction are you using? I am plugged into the block of 6 internal SATA connections. Is this the right one, or am I to use the 1 external conenction??

If you have the iso without the ppf1 and devian's disk util patch you should apply them first.

But if you downloaded the iso with the patches included just apply my patch.

Okay, on that motherboard there are 6 SATA connectors on the nForce SATA controller, but there is a special SiliconImage SATA controller included with 2 ports. One is external and one internal. It's black in color. Here's an included picture:

If I understand you right, you want to check if the SATA sriver is in your iso?

In that case you should use TransMac. With it you can open the ISO and in the folder System/Installation/Packages there should be a pkg with the SATA word in it or If you mean in my specific case, it should be named SiI3132_1.1.9u_Sil_Pkg.pkg

Can I use TransMac to add the package? I don't see it listed in my ISO.

ok, simple question. is this finally working with mcp41/nforce4? ie: hp dv2225nr, turion tl-50 nvidia 6150

00:0e.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP51 Serial ATA Controller (rev f1)

00:14.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP51 Ethernet Controller (rev a3)

00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 PCI Express Bridge (rev a2)

i got fairly close before with a patch many weeks ago, but i can't risk having downtime on that machine. if it works, good, if not, i'll wait another month.

thanks in advance for comments/suggestions.

Hello,

I've made some adjustment to the first ppf.

here is the patch for the "JaS original + v1p + Defiant Diskutil + bikedude880.ichXr" (in this order of applying ppf) :

here is the patch for the "JaS original + v1p + Defiant DiskUtil" (no bikedude880.ichXr) :

If you want here is the content of the ppf patch (for the first ppf):

You guys are really lucky.

My mobo is gone and i have to change it. So i'm gonna buy a new 939-socket mobo, and do fuhrter development on it.

If someone has the mobo "AS-ROCK 939NF6G-VSTA NF6100", please can confirm that is an nforce 410/430? (And optionally posts the chip/dev id of the sata controller?

Ah... almost forgotten it... i have some free space on my web site and if someone need to post a file (a ppf, package or something smaller, 20meg or down) can pm me.

Thanks,

Domenico.

heh, just noticed my typo. mcp51. can anyone confirm that its working without corruption?

*edit*

also, i would we be willing to help with the development of this driver after looking at the source, i've not developed for osx/darwin before, but i do regularly for freebsd and sinergy(bsd that the company i work for uses).
