iDerf2006
Looks like some poor apple employee's going to hit the sack after this. Quote from the article, Apple Gazette has received a tip from an apple insider that the Mac OS Aqua User Interface will be replaced with a new UI named Illuminous. The source goes on to say that we will see a demonstration of Illuminous at Macworld 2007. The gensis for this rumor started earlier this year when Apple posted a position on Monster.com seeking a senior visual interface designer “to conceive, design and develop future enhancements to Aqua, the dynamic user interface for Mac OS X”..... Prawker
Well i hope they still have aqua as a choice to be used as a UI, i really like aqua and if that Illuminous is to dark or turns out to be anything remotely near that ugly UI iTunes 7 came with, i just wont use OS X anymore Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-253114 Share on other sites

Lostgame
Seriously. Aqua is fine, as long as the old option remains then I will convert, otherwise... Lermex
Yea, they need to upgrade the interface to stay ahead of vista. Vista UI isn't so good IMO, but many people think otherwise. head
it´s an important fact to update the gui for apple: most of the average users start interesting when they see a shiny new interface - the pro´s will just have to argue about the new-style... i´m looking forward to leopard, and my windows friends are still stuck with xp (or vista, which should be names xp sp4 ;-) )....hahaha, the more apple is in front of microsoft, the more i laugh on them ;-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-253364 Share on other sites
Takuro
I love it when sites make these sort of claims with nothing to back it up whatsoever. I'll take this with a grain of salt before I get too worked up about it. Would Apple really result to using Monster.com to find somebody to design a GUI....? GBK.Xscape
man people need to get over stealing ideas, each company does it and its for the better of the consumers, do you think microsoft really cares if apple did it first, if it helps them sell their OS then why do they care if it is a bite off of apple. the windows users have no idea becuase they have never touched a mac before. Its like pepsi vs coke, they both copy each other, changing the products ever so slightly to make it legal, but all the same... and in the joe75 vs aberracus, you guys probably mean two different things, i think joe75 was talking about sales wise, and aberracus... hes just saying that m$ steals all its {censored} from apple, witch is false... and some of it maybe, but there is no evidence stating that this is true or otherwise. lets keep it peaceful Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-253917 Share on other sites

joe75
Maybe so, but everything in that video is true. The only thing true is that they are "similar", how many different ways can you do a calendar or a search and the RSS stuff is {censored}, tons of sites has a rss feed so all browsers need it Vista works otb on all my hardware and it looks and feels as good as osx86 I don't have any complaints. Auggie
Everyone hates on M$ because they're number one. Everyone always hates #1. If Apple took over, they'd have a few years where everyone loved them, then they'd get a ton of hard-core haters who make claims like people are making about M$ right now. I have to be fair though and say I hate M$ too... And I hate how they "copy" Apple's ideas. The difference is, I understand it's the way ALL markets work... new ideas are introduced by one company, so the other company(ies) have to do something to keep up -- they either model the new innovation, or try to come up with something drastically different. I wish M$ would quit modeling after Apple, though, and try to come up with something drastically different. Or maybe they have, and I just don't know about it -- there's so much I don't know Bottom line -- most industries work just like this, but I do hate M$ for doing it... probably just because they are so dominant, and it's always to hate those with "too much" power... Just my 2 cents! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-254028 Share on other sites
runwitmeeh
everyone steals from everyone, including Apple. The whole spaces thing is a complete bite off of linux. Linux has been able to have multiple desktops for a long time and in my opinion, the new XGI effects look much better than the macs. Time machine? Its just a cooler looking version of windows restore point. I love macs, i love windows and i'm so so about linux...if linux had more software, easier support, and was a tad bit more user friendly i'd use it all the time...bottom line is everything has their place...and for those of you who say the Vista is just another useless upgrade from XP haven't been reading and just been basing your assumptioins on the way it looks...security wise it theoretically uses the same method as OS X...So everyone please stop your biased opinions...my biggest gripe with microsoft is that their new OS is gonna be expensive as hell...so their basically using the same tactics as the ps3...and i know a lot of you will probably buy the ps3 even though that {censored} is much much more expensive than the competition and actually hasn't really shown better graphics than the XBOX 360...personally though, i love the Wii Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-254127 Share on other sites
Takuro
Wow, this got very off-topic. How does Microsoft even remotely become involved in a discussion over the supposed new Leopard GUI? All it takes is for some idiot to have the random urge to say "this makes Apple better than Microsoft," and then all hell breaks loose. Anyway, if this new GUI looks anything like the iTunes 7 app, I'll probably be using Shapeshifter in the future to restore the aqua look. Part of me is hoping Apple paid attention to the massive negative feedback with iTunes 7, and that they wouldn't be stupid enough to use this style for the whole operating system. Zealot
seems like every topic ends with...."I Hate microsoft "or Apple its great".Very off-topic. About the new ui i think they should add more themes for their interface i think its got to be more like costume desktop and a black or shadow theme will be great too. I heard something about linux interface, its good and its been upgraded like a next-gen Os but it still so far away of becoming good(because its not all about the graphics) . greetings Edited December 13, 2006 by Zealot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35587-new-leopard-ui-rumored-illuminous/#findComment-254166 Share on other sites
GBK.Xscape
yea i like aqua but it got kinda old and i got shapeshifter but there is always some type i cant read becuase it is too light. much more options are what consumers want and is what apple should give.
