MESSAGE TO ANYBODY FEELING HELPFUL,

Could somebody that’s using a Z390 Pro WiFi using bios F12c with the MSR Unlocked kindly save a MSR Profile with my Bios settings listed on page one to a USB key and zip it up post it on here for the people that need it????

Thanks Guys and stay safe :)

Dear AudioGod,

I just finished unblocking the MSR, I performed the method in the OpenCore Vanilla Guide, as kindly mentioned by others here on the topic. After unlocking, I ran geekbench4 again and noticed the following gains:

Single Core
6202 -> 6284

Multi-Core

35408 -> 36092

OpenCL

151813 -> 157833

iMacPro1,1
i9-9900KF
Aorus RX 5700 XT

Attached is the profile that I saved from my firmware after unlocking it for use by other users of the Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi if they wish.

As my processor does not have integrated video, if the user wants to use an iMac profile, he must enable igpu in the BIOS to avoid any error.

Thank you, again, AudioGod for allowing the hackintosh dream to materialize for novice users like me.

Sorry for my English, I'm using a translation tool.

Run Geekbench 10x and post the results here. MSR has nothing to do with performance. Zero.

I second that buddy. Geekbench is all over the place when it comes to using as a bench guide.

Luxmark for your gpu and cinibench for your cpu is good.

Hey Buddy,

i did a google search on your WiFi card and it’s coming back as being incompatible with macOS as of 10.14.6 so I’m not sure what to suggest. Is it possible that it hasn’t been working for you since you went to 14.6 and you have only just noticed now?

@AudioGod hey mate! Yes, it is absolutely possible as I'm rarely using it and I haven't used it for several months... I mostly keep it on just for the location services to work properly but I needed it yesterday; thus I realised that it is not working :P

Well I have a spare PCI-E ABWB BCM943602CS laying around, I might plug it in and just not connect the Bluetooth that it has on it since I do not need it :D

Or I might just leave it as it is until it will be supported again :D

Thanks for the info mate!

Thank you for the awesome guide AudioGod, Glasgood and all the other people who contributed!

It helped me a lot!

Unfortunately I cannot get CFG unlocked.. :( (Aorus Pro WiFi)

Although this is something easy to do, I still cannot get it to work after hours of trying.

I get this GUID error (image below) when I do the setup_var_3 with the modified grub shell.

First I was thinking this was normal, but when I check the file it still says:

CFG Lock, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0x5C1, VarStore: 0x1

I dit this checkup this way:

-Save BIOS

-UEFITool --> IFR Extractor

-Look for CFG lock in text file: VarStore still says 0x1

--> I don't know if this is the correct method?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

*Another question:

When I try the N-D-K OpenCore EFI it won't boot. (circle with slash)

Has this something to do with no CFG unlock?

I can boot the Clover EFI perfectly fine.

The error is common. Just ignore it.

You can easily check to see if it is unlocked by opening Hackintool, choose Utilities tab, click and run AppleIntelInfo and you will see:

MSR_PMG_CST_CONFIG_CONTROL........(0xE2) : 0x7E000008
------------------------------------------
 - I/O MWAIT Redirection Enable......... : 0 (not enabled)
 - CFG Lock............................. : 0 (MSR not locked)

Thank you for the clear explanation!

I did the check with Hackintool and it is unlocked. :yes:

Hackintosh is running great now.

Was running High Sierra the last years because of my Nvidia 1080 Ti.

Finally made the switch to the AMD RX 5700 XT and everything is running a lot smoother now. :lol:

Hi Preatorianus,

sorry I wasn't sure if I had unlocked CFG, so I was making sure. Then i was thinking to replace my motherboard because maybe Gigabyte is is not perfectly compatible with hackintosh, but i don't know.
So for CFG i think that is unlocked, but in grub shell i get this (attach file). There is an error (offset is out of range). Do you had the same error?

That’s correct, your unlocked pal :thumbsup_anim:

All Good

By the way, Gigabyte are the most hackintosh friendly of all the boards not the other way around ;)

So "error: offset is out of range" is not important?
Yes after some research i understand that on each motherboard we need to patch something, understand which kext to use, ecc.. So i keep my GB mobo ;)
Pity that the WiFi/BT does not work due Intel CNVi connector. I hope Broadcom does a WIFI/BT module CNVi compatible, or that this limitation can be unlocked from the bios.

F12c Report for Pro-WiFi.

1.Flashed 12c Bios ->Rebooted

2.Loaded MSR Unlocked bios (thanks Praetorianus)

3.Rebooted->Adjusted my Overclock settings and stuff ->Rebooted

4.Boot to windows once to enable thunderbolt drivers -> Reboot to bios

5.Adjusted Thunderbolt Options->Shutdown

6.Loaded Osx Everything is ok

Here is Clover log Not Showing now the MSR is locked entry i had before so i assume everything is ok.

A question if anyone knows: i have the CPU locked on 4.7Ghz with all power savings-Speedstep etc off on bios.

On windows the frequency stays locked at 4.7 as it should. On osx it fluctuates though it reaches 4.7 when needed. Any way to lock it on 4.7? Is it a Clover thing?

Thanks Again guys!!!

Test again but use geekbench 4 and your find the scores more in line with everything else, geekbench 5 has a different scoring system that’s much lower.

What thunderbolt card are you using?

looking at your spec I don’t see one listed so it would probably help if you had a thunderbolt 3 pcie card to start with.

the ports on the Z390 Pro are NOT TB3, They are USB Type C :hysterical:

yes they use the same port but its not thunderbolt its usb type c and they are not the same thing sorry. this is why it says there are no thunderbolt devices. its because you don't have one. cmon mate its not rocket science :hysterical:

omg how many times do I have to tell you?

usb type c is not thunderbolt 3, they use the same port but they are not the same thing and usb type c in not compatible to use as a thunderbolt port.

why do you think it says usb type c on the port on the motherboard and doesn't say it on the Apollo and only has a thunderbolt sign?????

dude!!!! lol
