Missing AppleHDA patches in my config.plist... WHOOPPPSS!  I forgot I swapped over an old config.plist to test XCPM patches. I'll retest again   :hysterical:

Oops. Yes. There are 2 patches for fixing popping sound and losing sound after waking, which is from AppleALC as well. (Sorry. I didn't where them are from exactly...)

In my sample config. There are 7 patches for HDA related.

 

2x - Codec ID related

2x - Removing redundant logs

2x - Getting rid of popping sound and Fixing no sound after waking

1x - HDMI Audio Controller related

Set according to YOUR CPU specs:

((The following assumes you're not overclocking, otherwise, you'll have to adjust these figures to factor in the higher vCore usage))
L.D.P.P.L. = Max TDP according to Intel CPU specs
P.P.T.W. = Time (in seconds) before clocks are reduced when hitting L.D.P.P.L
S.D.P.P.L. = Max TDP + 20% (if hitting this TDP, it'll reduce clocks immediately)

That's weird. AFAIK a wrong CPU Bus Speed may cause a popping sound...

I reset my S/L/E back to where I had it and included ONE of the AHCI port injector's. Continuing to run without the XCPM patch. I'll update if it still pops/freezes.

 

Update: Pop/Freeze without XCPM patch. Re-adding the patch and continuing testing. If this fails, it may the BIOS TDP settings, which I'll reset. If I get another freeze, then I'll swap over to my primary drive and check and see if this a possible hardware failure.

 

Despite loosing residency (missing C1-C3 states auto demotion as well)

So what you mean? I assume that you have to re-add your previously removed patch related to XCPM back right?

And if not, you will only get 2 P-States like this?

Re-added the XCPM patch (the one I mentioned above). Been running about 3-4 hours and no freezing (so far). However, as you can see, I lost CPU states (see added notes in code box below):

No congratulations. I'm still having CPU PM problems (missing power stepping)!!!

 

AppleALC. I'll switch over to your dummy kext tomorrow. Just want to be 100% sure it's the XCPM patch causing the freezes.

 

As far as performance, with the patch, it's relatively the same (as shown above). However, I noticed that it doesn't really idle (frequency spiking between 1.70ghz-2.95ghz || power hovers around 15W-17W //// without the patch, frequency stays between 1.45ghz-1.90ghz and power hovers around 12w-13w -- in other words, missing a base stepping frequency of 3.5hz):

Without the patch. You can. But. You will got popping sound etc and you cannot get a high performance.

The problem isn't so much the popping sound, but the fact that it locks up the entire computer and I have to hard reset it.

Got a loud popping sound, then my computer froze (no KP). No crash reports in console.  :(

Yes. However, I recommend not to use EIST in BIOS. I tested with it and found that it only achieved slightly above low scores (~15k for my CPU).

I have EIST enabled in bios with that patch in config and i've high scores too, but maybe it's because i've a different CPU i don't need to overclock.

Update to Sierra 12.4 Beta 3 (16E163f) and Clover r4012.

Again everything went well, without any intervention from me after the update. Just missing the new NV Web Drive to have full acceleration...clear.png:(

Can you do me a favor and run a Geekbench 4.04 test. I'm curious if you're getting full CPU PM.

And btw. Try to get rid of CodecCommander and just use my AppleHDA related patches from my config.plist sample above then test whether you can get sound after waking please?  :)

CodecCommander was removed alongside AppleALC. 

 

Last time I checked, sleep was partially broken. So I don't use it. (short sleep is ok (1-2min), but long sleep (15 min+) results in a black screen on wake)

Yup. I see.

But could you get sound properly without CodecCommander?

 

BTW. Same here. Previously CodecCommander caused a KP on my hack after waking. But actually. I found that I had no need for it later on  :D

But could you get sound properly without CodecCommander?

 

BTW. Same here. Previously CodecCommander caused a KP on my hack after waking. But actually. I found that I had no need for it later on  :D

In my limited testing (4-5 hours), I haven't needed the CodecCommander.kext to run normally (again, I don't use sleep).
