As for Lion?.. I can't get on with that damn reverse scroll!!

I thought it was not working, but it's inverted, even on trackpad.

 

DSDT patching in [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] is not working for me (it doesn't load patched DSDT.aml).

 

SL kexts work fine (FakeSMC, VoodooPS2).

 

X3100 ones, as in Snow, 32 bit only.

Just an fyi on the new reverse scrolling: I heard this can be disabled in the Mouse System Preference. Try looking there to return the scrolling direction to normal.

Have you tried running the install from *within Snow Leopard* as opposed to a standard bootable install?

 

All that is needed is apparently a suitable partition large enough, and the install would work.

 

The problem is more in terms of starting the finished install.

 

Right now, the only installers that work require a thumbdrive to launch (as opposed to the current EFI emulators, that can be launched from a CD or ISO image). If a CD-based version of either of the two current launchers can be created, that could actually help.

It's in red text and it's the only thing that happens when trying to boot from the USB stick. Any ideas?

Booting from stick is working now, but only HPET-Error and KP, but its funny, changing the CPU-Cores, one tryout is CPU-Core 2, then 6 or 7, with HPET-Errors..

 

Changing Apple-HPET.kext or deletimg Powermanagement.kexts did not work for me...

Installing NullPowermanagement.kext stopped the booting, before the HPET-Error appears.

 

But no Luck...

Using the image that Blade upload here i got no hpet errors, if i put the FakeSmc inside the kext folder on usb stick i can reach the install screen, but the spinning beach ball is the only thing running, my hdd stay inactive, and it takes a long time without a led blink... i cant understand the tmp thing on single user mode, i've a SL install and 3 free partitions, he say to use the partition that have the FakeSMC.kext, but when i run the command using my SL install, i got a no file found, if i put the kext inside the tmp folder, i got a error too.

Funnily enough I made mine work by using parts of both bootloaders. I used the XPC makeusb to format my flash drive, then copied the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] version of Efildr20 with the efi folder to the stick. That allowed [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] to work

 

I really like how Lion detects my Sapphire 5870 graphics card out of the box without any extra kexts. And for once I can actually run with both my 5870 cards in Crossfire without the display screwing up!

I just copy the 3 archives inside blade dmg and replace to my [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] usb stick, put FakeSMC in the Extension Folder (installer partition), chown, remake mkext (using my SL install) reboot, [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and bingo, installer works. After installed, do the same thing on Lion, but use the Extension.mkext of the installer to rebuild the mkext.

The /tmp is required for a mount point.

mount_hfs /dev/diskXsY by itself is no good, so adding /tmp instructs the system to mount the desired partition to a temporary location. The partition which you are mounting here is one which you know has FakeSMC.kext on it.

When you've mounted /dev/diskXsY you will have to know where on that partition FakeSMC.kext is.

A good idea might be to place FakeSMC.kext at the root of your partition which your are going to mount first in SL. Then you know that the instructions:

 

chown -R root:wheel /tmp/FakeSMC.kext

kextload /tmp/FakeSMC.kext

 

will be looking for FakeSMC.kext at the root of the partition you mounted in /tmp

 

In my case I used mount_hfs /dev/diskXsY /tmp to mount my current Chameleon boot partition in to /tmp. Then as I know the layout of that partition I change the above commands to fit my situation:

 

chown -R root:wheel /tmp/Extra/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext

kextload /tmp/Extra/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext

 

 

Just an fyi on the new reverse scrolling: I heard this can be disabled in the Mouse System Preference. Try looking there to return the scrolling direction to normal.

That was the first place I looked and I didn't see anything, but I looked again and it's the checkbox at the top to move content in the direction of your finger, which makes sense. I unticked it and it's now normal. Thanks for making me look again.

Lion succesfuly installed @ my Gigabyte XA58 UD7 @ i7 920 CPU.

GFX works with DSDT.

 

Nvidia GTS 250 1GB

 

But men don't show all. just 3 of 6GB, same in 32bit / 64bit.

 

Anyone know how to fix a smbios with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]??

 

Because my CPU shows at 4GHZ unknown hehe

Why bother with mount/chown/kextload? It's even impossible for me because I'm using PS2 keyboard. Just put all extensions you need in /S/L/E, remove kernelcache and Extensions.mkext from /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup to make sure it loads all extensions. I used only kexts for PS2 and fakesmc to install. I also edited Info.plist in ATI4800Controller with my HD4850 devid, otherwise I can't get GUI working. After install boot again from your install media, open terminal and copy extensions you need to your Lion partition. Now you can boot up your fresh Lion and enjoy.

i did the same as you, installed all my kexts into S/E. Works great. but i can't use iStat menus, maybe thats because i use 64bit kernel? and, i have problems with memory! Only shows 3.36 or something.. i have 6GB total.

iStat widget works for me. I think there's problem with menuextra because I tryed MenuMeters and also failed. Don't know about memory, shows all my 4GB in 64bit.

Sorry, overlooked. Activity Monitor reports 3.25GB of installed 4GB

What i understand: The is an preinstall (basesystem.dmg) cloned to an HD partition.

Then copy all the packadges to the install place of that partition.

Clear for me.

But thats not the real install, or ?

what happens , for you guys worked if you boot that perinstall ?

And whats about that new second partition used/created by 10.7? Is it needed to put that on an clean HD whit palce for more partitions ?

I ask because [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] (can boot my SL Partition) does nothing when i set the LION partition for booting.

If i use chameleon (from SL partition) i can see that there is some bootable stuff, because i can see Darwin 10.7 kernel message, but then reboots.

Can it be that [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] has problems with that 10.7 partition (XPC has even more probs depending which SATA slot is used , which partition is used , perhaps must be 1. or 2. partition on that HD?)

My lion is 4. partition, chameleon can handle that i see in the reboot.
