Why are Mac users Stuck up!

The other day I was in an IRC full of Mac Users when I asked if there was a way to get OSX86 without BT and then I was totally abused (I Got em back though) and I have noticed in real life as well that Mac users can also be stuck up because they think Macs are better and anyone using a PC (Personally I Prefer PCs but let's not turn this into a mac vs pc debate) is inferior for example the other day at the airport there were a few people just doing some work on a laptop and one guy got a bit frustrated and then some random teen just runs in and goes by a mac you dumb ass windows users and then showed off a mac leaflet to one of them. I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true, so I just wanted to know why Mac users have to be ass holes just because they have a Mac. I'm thinking of getting a mac but I won't be getting one if I am going to turn out a stuck up ass hole. It's funny though how some people think less of people just because they use a PC.

Ok,

I understand your POV. But what you haven't used you can't really flaunt around with. Windows is very buggy, faulty, and overly hyped. If the world was reversed. Lets say that Mac was preinstalled on every PC and Windows was "Flawless" . People would be more toward the Windows because it was better than Mac. WE are not {censored}s. Sure i tell ppl "Get a Mac" you'll be glad you did. Macs are I ADMIT IT overly priced, but you pay the extra $ for security, stability, and eye candy. I will be getting my Macbook 2wks from now. I won't turn into a stuck up little prick. I will be happy not to have to put up with reinstalling XP 3x a year, crashing when you open My Computer, and poking my eyes out with the horrible GUI. That is all. But please don't come on an OS X site and push us down in the dirt because you have a different opinion.

 

Oh and btw this belongs in the Thunderdome (Random Stuff)

I have used a mac otherwise I wouldn't be thinking of buying one but what I'm saying is why do mac users have to try and intemidate people by flaming them on forums and in public telling them that they are stupid for using Windows. I mean I don't mind people saying "you should get a mac because I think it's better" but what annoys me is when people be abusive and start calling them dumb asses for using a PC. Also i'm not trying to push you down in the dirt, i'm just wondering why some of you think Macs are so good that you have to be abusive (not that you were) and I'm not turning this in to another PC vs Mac argument.

Macs are undoubtedly years ahead of Windows in a # of areas. The biggest one being Stability. Windows just doesn't have it. Macs will be good for what they do best : Audio/Photo/Video editing... Windows is good for Gaming and internet. i guess. but what WIndows pwns Mac with is Compatibility. That's all i can say for now... We/I can't control what other ppl say. People who are too stubborn to give up windows yet keep it are dumb. Apple just needs to fund a free Mac Mini for ppl so they can try it. Its just a matter of time.

I own a macbook pro, imac 20" hp laptop and i also own a custom built pc i crafted together and i must say i love them all the same-but i must admit and this is me @ 100% honesty. When i am on a public area and i have my hp laptop i feel like im just like everybody else a sheep if you ask me-when i have my macbook pro i see people looking and the feeling i have is more of a high class feeling. I dont know why maybe is their marketing getting to me but i have noticed the diffrent emotions i have when i am on a windows laptop or on a mac. I by no means feel like i am a stuck up person but i can see why some people would feel like that. Some people can control them selfs soem dont.

Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with having a Mac, just that some stuck up idiots don't tolerate piracy. I've found you can't argue with people like this, go figure.

Well you asked to PIRATE OS X in a Mac chatroom. Stupid. You got what you deserved.

 

In the real world, those think their high priced macs are so much better but really deep down, alot of the Mac users are to stupid to realize they are being over charged. Now when it comes to OS X, yes I do feel better than Windows users, and slighter higher then Linux users, but I don't truely think I am better. I just know I am running the best OS on the planet, and I wish others were to. I don't put others down, but those Mac users that do: they need to get a life and quick sukcing Steve Jobs {censored}. Yes, I said that.

The only "bragging" I've ever done about my Mac was when dual boot for my MBP was released... otherwise it was simply boasting it to those who asked about it.

 

I went around to all my co-workers/friends, sat down booted XP, and loaded a 25k part assembly in NX4. But that's a little different though... I/ like my partners were dropped dead excited because we assumed the new Apple workstations (Mac Pro) would have the same capacity.

 

In our offices, we only use PC's for product development, Mac's for networking/ presentations and everything else.. Over the years, we've been trying to eliminate our HP workstations through X11, VPC and every other "emulator" without success.

My oh My, I 've really been waiting for this discussion. I am a diehard Windows user, BUT....I also own 10 machines (4 laptops, 1 of which is a MacbookPro, and 6 other machines, all PC's which dual/triple or quad boot multiple OS's). I like all OS's to some degree, and yes....most Mac users are EXTREMELY ARROGANT!!! I have several very close friends that are DIEHARD Mac only users, and even they are ARROGANT, but I just laugh at them. I challenge their every debate on Mac vs. PC, because they are merely ignorant, and afraid to "THINK DIFFERENT". That is the problem. They have merely been FOOLED by the LEGACY MARKETING MACHINE WHICH IS APPLE COMPUTER. I for instance, bought this MacbookPRO, just to give it a shot (I already own a HP ZD8000 that runs 10.4.6 natively FASTER than my MacbookPRO.....LOL). Anyway, I had the money, so I bought one. That being said, use and or buy what you like. I bought my MBP as a toy basically, as I put parallels on it as soon as possible and loaded XP first, and then Suse 10.0, because to be honest....OSX is nice, but there are certain things (believe it or not) that it absolutely DOES NOT DO AS WELL AS WINDOWS....for me at least. Well, I have to admit I am a MCSE, and so naturally Windows is more intuitive, but I can do my job pretty much in ANY OS regardless, because I'm a GEEK!!! ITS WHAT I DO, therefore I don't allow ANY manufacturer of ANY OS or HARDWARE tell me what is BEST FOR ME, and I suggest you do the same. Good luck to all, and I hope you find true happiness with your choices.......as for me, I will contunue to be......................................................... "JACK OF ALL TRADES, MASTER OF NONE!!", and honest about it. :):):sorcerer:

The thing why Apple is so fingerlicking smart can't be described with just marketing.

 

The first time I had this feeling about a computer was when I first met a Sinclair, and later a C116. They were

smooth and colorful. Later, the IBM compatible computers aka. PCs felt like sitting in front of a sharped edged

black hole with ugly sounds and keyboards that were not made for hands.

 

Nothing changed.

Again, you got what you asked for. You asked how to STEAL something and people told you STEALING IS WRONG. Now let's not get into the argument of "stealing could be right, blah blah bla" because the only thing that does is lead us all into calling each other poopy heads.

 

So on to the question. Why are Mac users so smug? Well, there are reasons. Some are good and some are bad and all are up to the tastes of the individual user:

 

1. Windows has virus scares. Meanwhile, Mac users shake their collective heads and go on playing on the internet. Same thing with spyware and adware that creeps into Windows.

 

2. Windows (to me) is so in-your-face that it becomes a turn off. YOU PLUGGED SOMETHING IN! THERE ARE ICONS YOU HAVEN'T USED!!! Now this is something OS X has actually gotten worse in (because it's been a lot more in-your face lately), but there is this consistent chronic peskiness that pervades Windows.

 

3. Mac OS X comes with cool effects, like the genie. Windows comes with puppydogs.

 

4. Windows gets hacked every day with no fanfare and no fixes (save for patches). OS X gets hacked and it becomes a major event, complete with analysis and what to do.

 

All in all, a box is a box regardless of OS. It's just there is so much damning evidence against Windows that it is almost inherent to say that alternative OS-es are a 500% improvement over Windows.

It's a big deal when OS X gets hacked, cause OS X is supposed to be "Hack-proof" and "Virus Free".

 

Some Mac Users Who shall not be named ( :thumbsdown_anim: ) look for every possible way to "prove" that their platform of choice is better, thus "proving" that they themselves, are better. A recent example might hypothetically be a freakout post about how a rival computer manufacturer is playing big brother. Hypothetically.

 

Get over it. Macs are cool. But they arent miraculous or anything.

I really thought about getting a Mac Mini or MB. Not now. I will get a Mac Pro, due to the power and just plain geekiness and with Boot Camp can have a killer gaming rig and then OSX for the rest.

 

Mac is just an idea. I agree with gwprod12, most Mac users don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and think Steve Jobs is a god. The reason Apple is doing well is OSX and iPods. Not their Macs. Macs now are pretty PCs. Period. Why does some many use OSX86? Why spend money on an iMac with no upgradability and spend a third for a PC that will last a long time. Mac users need to realize, without OSX Apple would just sell iPods.

Mac users are not stuck-up !. I am a "Jack of all trades", I have been for 15 years. I am now going back to University to do a CSOM diploma, than a further 2 years at BTACS which will give me my degree. You have to be part of Windows, OSX, Linux, BSD, Solaris, VAX...

 

To be part of the IT world you have to experiment with everything (or atleast most things).....

It's true that people have to have a rounded computer experience in order to be a true guru. That's not really what's being referred to as "mac users". It's more people who buy Macs for the same reason someone buys a BMW; to show off.
