Hi,

I have a problem with Conroe945G: I tried to install many times OSX, but with Jas 10.4.8 I'm not able to boot because I get a flashing cursor and it hangs, with Goatsec's 10.4.6 I get a message about the impossibility to find Boot.plist.

What should I do?

Maybe a bios update will work?

Checked whether the values in AppleAzaliaAudio.kext were correct

and they were, so I need help.

I re-tried the repairpermissions stuff from the alc howto but it was a no-go.

Solved! Thanks anyway.

 

For King A: I did in another way on my Acer Aspire 5562 and on my new mobo and it worked:

 

1) Run 10.4.4 (or higher) install DVD

2) Erase the partition you want to use for OSX with Disk Utility

3) Reboot

4) Run Jas 10.4.8 install DVD

5) Install OSX on the previously erased partition

6) Reboot and remove DVD before it loads or you will not be able to boot OSX

didn't you just tell me to reinstall the whole osx?

For an update to 10.4.8 I suggest you to reinstall the whole system, because I never had success with a simple update.

 

Edit: I report my success too with Jas 10.4.8 DVD. OSX is working like a charm, as you can read in my signature

OSX recognises my X1650 as an X1600 series, but everithing is working, even rotation and sleep. Didn't try mirror because I haven't two displays. NIC works and audio output works (nothing to do for input, but I don't care).

I upgrade my hackintosh from a P4 630 and a 915 board to a core2duo 6400 with this asrock board.

I install the new jas 10.4.8 and erything works very well, thanks a lot for all your post.

 

just a question :

"about this mac" recognise a '2.13 intel core , is it normal ? (no information about the two cores )

How can i be sure that the two cores are used ?

I think that's the case, because i run a xbench test and i had a result around 133.

Open Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) and click CPU, if you see two graphs with different colored squares when under load, then you have 2 cores working.

I have now Mac OS X running since a couple of days and trying to get the kinks out... Here is what keeps me busy...

 

Found out that keyboard power on (KBPO) only works when plugged into PS/2 port, doesn't work with keyboard on USB while waking up the system from sleep works also with USB keyboard. Still having the problems with the keys as described before. I'm using a PS/2 to USB adapter which might cause all the troubles, will probably just get an PS/2 extension cord. Attached is my XBench with 8x300. Results compare to these of protools earlier here with exception of the HDD. Any ideas why my Samsung SATA2 HDD is half as fast as the WD in protools system? Protools, did you install the SATA driver that came with the JAS install? I didn't. Or is the Samsung just such a bad harddrive ?

I remember that the Darwin loader from the JAS install disc didn't want to boot (was stuck with Loading Darwin...) when using USB keyboard so I used PS/2 port during the first couple of minutes of the install.

You have to enable Legacy in the USB section of the BIOS

 

Unfortunately after a long internet session (about 3 hrs) I also got the panic today and had to restart (using onboard LAN).

Strange: my NIC is working perfeclty. Did you use the installer for RTL8111?

 

I can't play any DivX videos. Tried to install DivX and MPlayer but they all crash when opening a .divx. Anyone got divx working around here? QuickTime works with mpegs without problem.

I can play DivX and DVDs perfectly, but I have an ATI X1650. Are you using the integrated VGA? Remember that for DivX you have to install the codec. However try VLC.

You don't have to replace AppleSMBIOS.kext, but loginwindow.app in /System/Library/CoreServices/

Yep, used the Neopheus Installer V1.02. Well for 5 days I haven't had a single problem. And since I restarted today system runs stable so maybe a one time thing... Will wait and see.

I installed Divx, MPlayer and now as well VLC. They all crash with a "kern_protection_failure".

What exactly did you do? Did you use JAS 10.4.8 and then installed a newer Kernel than the one one the JAS 10.4.8 install DVD? Or did you use the Semthex or Mifki from the JAS 10.4.8?

Mmmmhhh... your problem with DivX is with the old kernel or the 8.8.1? If it's 8.8.1 try to update it with the last version.

You can take loginwindow.app from a 10.4.4 DVD (or a higher one with old kernel).

1) Open with Pacifist Essentials.pkg in the /System/Installation/Packages (or something like this) directory of the DVD

2) Open in Pacifist System/Library/CoreServices

3) Select with the mouse loginwindow.app and drag it to the desktop

4) Open Terminal

5) Type:

 

cd System/Library/CoreServices/

sudo mv loginwindow.app loginwindow.app.backup

sudo cp -R /Users/[yourUserName]/Desktop/loginwindow.app System/Library/CoreServices/

reboot

 

For the installation I did this:

 

1) Run 10.4.4 (or higher) install DVD

We have very good chance to see Leopard running on our mobo 'cause mifki has 945G mobo similar to ours (intel version).

On a 945G-DVI / Core 2 Duo system:

 

- For a clean install obviously the best choice is JaS's 10.4.8 intel DVD. After install, what's the best 10.4.8 kernel around for Core 2 Duo procs, and the most painless way to install it?

 

- What's the best way to update a 10.4.7 install, including the new kernels?

help... i am new to osx86 and i just setup my new pc with conroe945G-DVI.

 

I got error while i am trying to get the audio work.

 

The system extension "/system/library/extensions/appleazaliaaudio.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.

 

I have followed this guide exactly (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/ConRoe945G-DVi), any idea why?

Hi guys,

 

I've just got hold of one of these Asrock boards after following this thread. Problem is that on power up I just get a short, single beep (memory error?) and no VGA output to my monitor. I'm thinking this is a RAM compatibility issue and was wondering if others had similar issues. I'm using 2 x 1Gb Corsair XMS2 5400 (667) C4 sticks. I've also tried with just one of the sticks in all the 4 slots. Should I go for a different brand?
