We've spent a lot of time thinking of ways to improve the OSx86 Project, in order to help make info about OSx86 even easier. That's one of the reason we moved the forum here, to InsanelyMac.

But we want to hear from you - in your opinion, what can we do to improve the OSx86 project? What have you liked about the wiki in the past? What needs to change?

We'll be revamping it during the month of August, so think about it and let us know!

A unified design is always cool. Because it's a wiki, the whole site should resemble the apearance of the wiki. I do like the original design of the OSx86 project, and obviously wiki pages are designed for functionality, not adavanced visual aperance, so perhaps it all should be kind of basic and wiki like.

I'm not entirely sure of your intentions here, but unified design kicks arse. It ties everything in and makes it simple to see your way around.

With the wiki, it's cool - split down the middle OSx86 and Apple x86, problem is there is so much information and it's a bit chaotic. Big links "Compatible Hardware" "How to Install OS X on your Vanilla PC", obviously a bit more refined, but simple and obvious. I do assume that the OSx86 community may be a little more web savy than a lot of communities, but still the information is sometimes a little too hard to track down. For instance - basic stuff - how to kextcache, how to edit kext files, how to repair permissions, how to partition drives, etc, etc should all be easy to find, precise, clear. Perhaps a limit to the information too. Stick to ten guides instead of the massive loads that are there - you know the most popular, the easist, etc. It's good to have so much information, but loads of it is just a re-hash, and for the confused souls, so much information ends up to be counter productive (I remember trying to follow the guides, then just caning them and trying my own way when I first built my x86 mac...).

Also, I'm digging the new Insanely Mac look, it's nice. A good blend of aqua and "blog-o-sphere" elements. Nice work, I bet it took heaps of time eh?

The first thing you can do is fix the logo at the top of every page. The reflection effect is cool and all, but the "y" is off.

It would be great to have the info on the HCL ported into a spreadsheet so as to be able to rate compatibility etc. I'm pretty useless on the mechanics of this so I dont know how hard it is.

But for noobos like myself it might make the purchase/install process easier thus reducing the amount of forum questions.

also I swear I hit reply button on the above thread but got quotes instead......

Or, create a web-based interface where one can browse hardware, providing information for each piece of hardware such as:

- Name

- Compatibility (full, partial, in the works(i.e. a driver is being written), none)

- User rating

- User comments

That is a sweet logo job Hanschien. I agree with him as well!

Oops another edit :)

Could you make a Guide Section? I know you have the tut section but could you get the add on for IPB that will make it more clean and easier to view, I don't remember what it was called but I think it lets you rate them as well.
